ACE (Jeff X Reader) ~The Death Card

The night had passed peacefully.

Thankfully.

Though Smile did sometimes interrupt the girl's resting, soon after being yelled by Jeff. The girl found it quite adorable that Jeff cared about her, even after all these years, as she drifted off to sleep. 

She dreamt of something weird that night.

And it seemed so real.

As soon as the moment the girl had plunged into darkness, it was as if she wasn't even asleep. She was stuck in that same black void where she had made the wish while playing the game of chess with the monochrome clown.

And then, there was the voice.

The same voice that echoed throughout the black void she was floating it. It was back. "Hello," it greeted, it's voice sending chills up her spine. "We meet again." 

"W-What do you want?" The girl spoke out to nothing.

The voice went silent again, and the girl thought it was because of her rudeness or something she didn't notice. 

"S-Sorry," she muttered an apology. 

"I couldn't let you go that easily, could I?" The voice continued. "I didn't come for trouble, I came to grant you one wish." 

The girl narrowed her eyes, managing to stable herself in the middle of the black void, her arms flailing in different directions. "A wish?" She asked. "Why?" 

"Don't you want a free wish, child?" The voice trailed off. "I'll give you another chance. Yes or no?" 

The girl hesitated. It could come in handy someday. She looked back up, gaining a bit of confidence in herself. "Okay, I accept the offer." 

"Wise decision, child. Call for me, and I shall offer you your wish." The voice seemed to fade away now. "But, be careful." It warned. "Only one wish, you can't undo it." 

The girl gupled, unaware of the weight of responsibility dragging her down, but managed to nod weakly. "Thank you." 

There was that hissing sound again. The same sound she had heard when she had spoken with the voice earlier when their conversation had come to an end. 

The girl's eyes widened. 

All of it was about to blow out.

Flailing her arms around crazily like a fish flopping out onto the dry land without it's water, it was too late. As soon as the heating sensation touched her skin, burning her a little, resulting to a little yelp before a loud sound errupted from her, and suddenly, she felt cold, and wind was rushing through her, ruffling her hair.

She was falling.

It was all just darkness, the black void entering her mind, and a split second, she was awoken by the upcoming shines of the suns, shining rays of disappointment onto her face. She blinked tiredly before propping herself up upon the couch pillow, looking around.

She felt a movement stir beside her and she turned around to see Smile, in his dog form, wagging his tail happily, his tongue sticking out as he bent over the couch and licked her cheek. Strength regained in her body as she managed to let out a little giggle and ruffle Smile's fur, smoothing the tangles out.

She paused, looking up from Smile and stared at the open dim hallway. She narrowed her eyes. 

"What happened last night?"

Smile didn't sleep last night.

He couldn't.

He was too busy watching suspiciously underneath the kitchen table at the sleeping girl, the dim lights of the hallway slowly flickering on and off, as the faintest sounds of footsteps could be heard through Smile's hearing as he twitched his left ear. 

He pretended to be asleep, closing his eyes. The footsteps could be heard, getting louder towards Smile as it stopped. Smile dared to slit one eye open, and saw a blurry image of his master in his white T-Shirt, looking down on the sleeping girl.

Smile let out a low growl in his throat, un-heard by his master, as he continued staring at what he would do next. Surprisingly, he thought Jeff would've just checked up on the girl, then leave. Jeff suddenly leaned down towards the girl, face to face. Smile couldn't see anything else except for the sofa, blocking his spying.

He cursed in his mind and decided to move a few inches to peer around the edge. He scooted over a couple of inches, but still couldn't see anything. He couldn't move any further either. His fur was already touching the end of the kitchen table. Grumbling, he sat back down and rested his head above his paws, closing his eyes again as he heard Jeff's footsteps walking back towards his room.

At around Midnight, Jeff had woken up. He couldn't sleep, his mind was still on the girl and the question. Hopefully, he hoped that the girl would find the answer and tell him, so he could discuss it with the clown and see what was really going on behind the scenes. 

He rose himself up from the bed and opened the door, walking across the hallway. The lights were dim, some were flickering on and off as he did his best to tip-toe silently across the wood-floor. He could see the small figure of the sleeping girl, and to his left, he could see Smile, also asleep underneath the kitchen table.

He walked over towards the girl, and for the few minutes, he watched as her chest rose up and down as she breathed. The cuts were still there, so were the bruises. But there weren't any that were fatal or that much on her skin. His eyes then slowly traced up towards her face. A few bloody cuts on her cheek. 

His eyes then lowered down towards her nose, then towards her lips. He didn't know what took over him, but he suddenly felt himself lower down towards the girl and gently cupped the girl's small delicate face in his hands. The girl stirred a bit, making Jeff break a sweat, but didn't wake up.

Thankfully, Jeff let out a quiet sigh. He turned back to look at the sleepig girl, before slowly leaning down, and planting a little kiss above the girl's forehead. Her skin was soft and delicate as his lips touched it. 

Immediately, he felt warm. Very warm, as he quickly understood what he had just done, he backed off quietly, his face red. He glanced around and saw Smile shifted towards the left. His heartbeat rate slowed down as he tried to regain his breath, narrowing his eyes at Smile who was snoring. 

Jeff stared at Smile for just a few moments before retreating back and walking towards his room, leaving the door open as he flopped across his bed, massaging his head with his index finger and his thumb, covering any light from his un-blinking eyes. 

Yes, it hurt like hell.

But Jeff managed to smile, bigger than the one he had on his carved face. He replayed the situation in his head and kept telling himself to stop smiling, but he couldn't. It just had a mind of it's own, smiling, and he couldn't stop. 

It felt really good, he thought, smiling even more. 

Rubbing his hir in frustration, he sat up on his bed, looking down on his lap. His feelings for the girl were so mixed up, like a kid was scrambling different colored crayons on one single white paper. 

But it did felt good.

It felt like the crayons were somehow mixing up the colors and creating it into one big picture. He slumped back down on the bed, still smiling, he threw a pillow at his face, tired out from exhaustion, he made one kick on the messed up bed sheet, before looking out at the tiny window above his head. 

There weren't any stars out there tonight, lighting up the black sky. He sighed underneath his pillow. He'd wish Liu had been there to congratulate him. Instead, he sent up a small prayer, a little message, hoping Liu had heard what he had said.

"Liu.." He murmured, his voice muffled by the pillow. He lifted his head and rested his messy hair on the pillow.

"I.." he swallowed and continued. "Kissed a girl.." 

As soon as he spoke that, he immediately paused, and held his breath for a moment, eyes widen, as he repeated it slowly.

"I.. kissed a girl.." 

Joy spread up to his heart, exploding, as he jumped up from his bed and pumped his fist into the air. "Heck yeah!"

I know I haven't been updating for a while, but I tried to make this chapter a little interesting~
