Part 39

ACE (Jeff X Reader)~ The Death Card

                                                            (☼Д☼)

The first thing the girl had felt was that the ground rumbled. She had never experienced an earthquake first hand, but this seemed to be her first. What surprised her most was that Jeff, EJ, and even Smile was there with her.

She wondered what it could've meant.

She stared straight ahead, the ground below them shaking and rumbling, yet all of them managed to cling onto the piece of ground that was on their feet. They held their ground.

Finally what seemed like ages, the shaking finally stopped, and EJ, despite his mask, looked a little green.

LJ turned to face the girl, who seemed to shrink behind Jeff. He cocked his head. "Do you like to play cards, m'lady?"

"Um." The girl gulped. She glanced around. "Y-Yeah."

She corrected herself by giving her a boost of confidence. "Yeah." She repeated. "I could do a game of cards."

The clown chuckled and nodded in response. With a wave of his hands, he clapped once.

Suddenly a table poofed out in to the middle of the open, a lightbulb dangling above it.

Clapping twice, a neatly stacked deck of cards were piled up in the middle of the table.

The girl confused, stepped out behind Jeff. "Why are we here exactly?" She asked, hearing her question bouncing up and down, echoing throughout the empty room.

If there even was a room.

LJ shrugged. "It's all part of the game."
"Just go with it," LJ added, in a low whisper.

The girl puffed out her cheeks and walked towards the table, pulling out one of the chairs. "Well, this seems easy enough, compared to the last games." The girl muttered under her breath.

LJ heard her.
And chuckled.
"Let's see what easy really means."

The girl narrowed her eyes. Something was definitely up. But she wasn't going to let her guard down. She sat down and crossed her arms and leaned them far enough out on the table. However, LJ didn't follow her.

"Aren't you going to sit down?" She asked the clown.

The clown shook his head. "I'm good for now. Frankly, you'll be playing with someone else, which is a shame."

This stunned the girl. "What? Who am I playing with then?" The girl demanded.

The girl, frozen, stood still in her place, but she heard emerging footsteps making their way towards her. They stopped in their tracks, and she heard a familiar voice.

"Me."

STATIC. was the only sound that could be heard. A figure, dressed in a tan colored coat, that had now faded due to it's long use, was covering the figure. From seen afar, it looked like as if the figure was possibly male. His body seemed to distinguish a normal human male's body. The big black hat that was covering up his face, that made him seem so mysterious.

Glancing at one of the many camera screens in front of him, showing a live footage of the girl sitting down, with a confused expression.
This made the Man grin a devious smile, that didn't seem human anymore. Teeth that were sharp white, almost like a shark.

His gaze darted to one of the screens that were at the top left, and saw a different footage at a different angle. A male with a white hoodie walked towards the girl.
The Man's smile turned into a frown, that could only be seen for a split second, before he smiled a smile, wider than he could have possibly imagined.

A smile that was completely different.
From Human.

"Jeff?"

A silent nod and he was sitting directly across from the girl at the table, his face shadowed by his hair and hoodie, he almost seemed unrecognizable like the Jeff the girl had once known.

The girl stared wildly at LJ whose eyes were sparkling in amusement. "You're kidding me."

"No, I am not kidding you. Want me to pinch you?" The clown asked.

The girl kept quiet, now staring at the deck of cards.

Without anymore hesitation, the clown snapped one of his fingers again, and one by one, the deck of cards separated into two equal halves, on the right and on the left of the table. The clown whistled, and now the deck of cards were now slowly floating, dancing along the air, before spiraling with the other half of cards that were on the opposite sides, shuffling them randomly.

Finally what seemed like the clown thought was a good shuffle, he snapped his hands again and the cards stopped spiraling. And one by one, the cards were given to both Jeff and the girl, neatly across both sides of the table.

Jack snapped his hands and a tiny hour-glass appeared, floating at the top of his extended palm. The silver sand dancing inside of the glass. "60 minutes." He said.

"Begin.
Now."

And the game begun.

The Man leaned back into his chair and smirked. He cracked his neck.
"Well this is going to be fun." A demon-voice whispered.

The Man could see that the girl was good, but he did not let his guard down. He had planned something for the girl, and maybe for the white hooded male too.

The game had been going fine, and the white hooded male on the camera screen seemed to be winning. The Man glanced at his watch and tapped it ever so slightly. "Tick-Tock."

The Man sighed boredly, and kicked his feet up upon the table. He snapped his fingers and dust sprinkled out of his fingertips. Magically, a container of popcorn popped out of nowhere, some pieces falling to the ground. The Man chuckled quietly to himself and threw the popcorn into the air and catched it with his mouth, chewing it, hearing the crunches of the popcorn as he slowly ate it.

Time had passed quickly, the Man saw, the tiny hour-glass ticking it's sand down. It's either one or the other, the Man thought to himself, setting the container of popcorn down. One piece was left.

A few minutes had passed, and he could see there was still a glimmer of silver sand still trickling it's way slowly down to the bottom of the hour-glass. Suddenly at the corner of his eye, he spotted the girl, forehead filled with sweat. The Man shifted in his seat, and scooted more closely to the screen.

Suddenly, surprised, the Man was taken back. As the last trickle of silver sand had made it's way down towards the hour-glass, the girl pulled out something sparkly, tiny, and golden out of her pocket.

The Man's eyes widened with rage, as he slammed his fist down the table, knocking the container of popcorn over, spilling the last piece of popcorn onto the floor. Fuming, the Man straightened his hat above his head and walked away from the computer screen, as he did, he stepped harshly on the popcorn, squashing it flat as a pancake.

Time for Plan B, the Man thought.

The girl was behind by just 3 or so points. Her cards she had left weren't the best ones, she felt getting more desperate as time passed by.

"2 minutes." LJ said softly in the background.

'I just can't play my spades, I'll run out of them soon..' The girl thought, staring at the played card Jeff had played earlier.

"A minute and a half."

'Shitttt..'

The girl glanced over at EJ who was slouching against Smile, who was sleeping on top of the floor. Then she glanced back over at Jeff, who still kept his face hidden.

She wondered why.

But, this is the last game, she thought. What will happen next?

She glanced back over at the tiny floating hour-glass, which seemed to just have a tiny bit of silver sand left. She glanced back at LJ.

"30 seconds."

He then sighed. "You need to make a move soon, or it's Jeff's turn."

The girl nodded in response, but she didn't know what to do. If she had played all of her cards, she knew she would lose. She glared at the cards.

'Well, damn you for being so weak.' She cursed inside her mind.

"15 seconds."

The girl started to tap her foot impatiently, her eyes darting around wildly back and forth. But then.

She had realized something.

Something had clicked in her mind, as she could hear LJ's voice echo in the background.

"10, 9, 8.."

The Ace Card.

The Ace Card that Jeff had given her earlier. Surely it was a card that could be played.

"7, 6, 5.."

The girl fidgeted and dug quickly in her back pocket. She felt LJ and Jeff's eyes staring at her. And she heard EJ and Smile stir awake from their sleep.

Finally, she felt the soft smooth surface of the card.

"4, 3, 2.."

She quickly pulled the card out and slammed it hard on the table, and standing up, waiting for something magical to happen.

She glanced at the hour-glass.
It had stopped.

But nothing else had happened like she had expected. She glanced at LJ, who seemed to shout at something, but she didn't hear him.

It was all just silence, followed by a ringing static that filled her head, a pain fingering it's way through her brain. She cried out in pain and fell to her knees, clawing at her head, desperately trying to get the noise out of her head.

She saw a door slam open in the corner of her eye, and the bright light that seemed to burn her eyes at the sight. A dark figure was emerging out of the light, but she could not make out the figure.

The static hit her again and she crumpled to the ground.
But she managed to catch another glance at the figure, who appeared to be male, walking towards Jeff, who stood up.

Everything seemed to spin around now, as she glanced over to the right, and saw LJ's eyes becoming a pierce black, claws sharp, like an animal ready to attack.

While EJ and Smile, they somehow were tied up, squirming their way through. She glanced back at the man again, who was now walking towards her. She shook her head weakly and glanced at Jeff who seemed like he was banging on some invisible forcefield, and LJ in chains on the some invisible wall, snarling.

The man leaned down and grabbed her chin roughly.
Although, all the noise the girl could hear was an eerie sound of silence and static, something, like a demonic voice whispered through her ear clearly.

"Think you can win?" The Man breathed.
He then chuckled. "Well too bad.."

He yanked the girl's chin away, making the girl wince in pain. The girl's vision began clouding up, and at the final glance, she could see something.

A tiny red gleam of amusement in the Man's eye. A demonic smile that didn't seem human anymore.

"You're in my game now." The Man whispered.

And all was black.
