Bunny
Katsuki Bakugou
The brats were too loud at such an ungodly time. The sun had barely risen and Aizawa was banging on his hotel door. Whatever 'adventure' he was chaperoning today required him to be up at the ass crack of dawn. Katsuki wasn't in the mood to deal with children. Kirishima would have been a better option if Aizawa wanted some peppy, motivational Hero to help encourage the future generation of Heroes.
The kids were awake, fully dressed, and savaging the breakfast bar the hotel provided. Aizawa sat at a corner table, keeping a watchful eye out on his class while sipping a much-needed cup of coffee. Katsuki was never a coffee drinker, but he needed one today. The Alpha poured himself a cup, not bothering with cream or sugar. It all tasted like dirt regardless. He only indulged in the hot bean water for the caffeine.
"Finally," Aizawa gruffed, "I see you're resorting to the dreaded coffee. Kids will do that to a person," he sighed while tipping back his mug. Katsuki narrowed his eyes but didn't reply. "I swore your class would have forced me into early retirement. Turns out, coffee is cheaper than therapy."
"You sound old when you talk like that," Katsuki snuffed. Aizawa wasn't that old. He never thought of his teacher as old. Perhaps it was because the Pro Hero could easily kick his ass. Katsuki did rely too heavily on his quirk.
"I am old, kid," he replied with an amused smirk. "Old enough to not be dealing with kids anymore. That is why you're here, after all." Aizawa set his cup down and stood up, gathering the attention of the buzzing students. "Listen up. We are departing in 10 minutes. Clean up your messes so the staff doesn't have to pick up behind you," he addressed the group. The students bowed respectfully while a few chanted a firm 'yes sir' and continued shoveling food down their throats.
"So, what are we even doing today?" Katsuki questioned while lifting his steaming cup to his lips. The hot liquid burned on the way down, but successfully managed to wake him up as the caffeine slowly got to work.
"We are taking the students to a Hero museum. They are learning about Hero history and laws. Today is focusing on history; tomorrow will be for laws and politics." Katsuki grimaced at the thought of having yet another history lesson taught by Aizawa. It had been five years since he was last in school and the Alpha didn't miss it at all. Well, maybe he did. But only sometimes.
"Sounds boring," the Alpha huffed while standing up and stretching. Deciding it best to eat something now, rather than get hungry later, Katsuki stalked over to the breakfast bar to grab something he could down quickly. A muffin would work.
"Aren't you going to eat something healthy? Heroes need to take care of their bodies. Food is fuel," a young boy wearing a U.A. uniform stared up at him. Katsuki curled his lip and glared down at the runt.
"Shouldn't you focus on your own body, pipsqueak? I'm done growing and can eat whatever the hell I want," he remarked while pealing the paper packaging from around the warmed muffin.
"Maybe if you ate better foods you wouldn't be so grumpy. Heroes need to smile," the boy said before grabbing an apple off the bar and stalking back to his group of friends. Katsuki rolled his eyes and scowled.
"Your 10 minutes are up!" he barked out, watching as the students scrambled to pick up their trash. Katsuki made his way back to Aizawa's side with an annoyed expression. Children were getting too damn cocky. "How old are these brats? Nine?" the Alpha grumbled while Aizawa just rolled his eyes.
"Fourteen," the teacher replied evenly while Katsuki's eyebrows shot up.
"No fuckin' way," he muttered. "Damn, I feel old."
"Imagine how I feel when I see you and the rest of class 1-A out running your own agencies. It still blows my mind that you're 23 and not that annoying, loud-mouthed, 15 year old anymore," Aizawa said with an amused smirk. Katsuki growled under his breath but didn't bother to comment. He knew his younger years were a hot mess. He didn't like to think about those days, for many reasons.
"Let's just get this shit-storm over with. I'm ready to go home," he grumbled before stalking off as Aizawa gathered up the group and led them out to the streets.
"Stay together and don't wander off. If you have questions or need something, find myself or Katsuki. Don't touch anything once we enter the museum," Aizawa rattled off while the Alpha followed behind to keep the group together.
It wasn't a long walk from their hotel to the museum, and it wasn't too much to ask for when he wished for today to go by smoothly. Evidently the universe saw it as a challenge because not even five minutes into their walk, Aizawa had halted the group's movements, his arm in the air to signal the children to freeze.
Katsuki growled and whipped around to pick out the situation as the students all bristled in fear. Some took fighting stances while others bound together in groups. "Don't engage!" Katsuki ordered while spinning around to protect the students from whatever had Aizawa on guard.
There, waltzing down the street in their directions, was a familiar sight that had his blood running cold. For five years the League of Villians had been living in the shadows. No one knew where they were, how many there were, or when they would be back. Heroes tried hunting them down. Katsuki spent every waking minute on their trail and after five god damn years, Shigaraki finally came sauntering cockily back into his life.
Izuku. Where was Izuku? Katsuki faltered as he watched the male approach. Civilians scattered out of the road and sidewalks as Pro Hero Aizawa so obviously took a defensive stance over his students. They didn't need to know who Shigaraki was to be guarded as they witnessed both Aizawa and Katsuki taking up their roles as Heroes.
The only thing on the Alpha's mind was finding Izuku. At least, it had been the only thing running through Katsuki's mind until Aizawa cast him a serious expression. "Take your own advice, Katsuki. Do not engage. The students need you to focus," the Professor warned. Katsuki growled. How could he ask such a thing knowing he had spent five years of his life searching for his mate, and now, the man who could take him to Izuku was standing just meters away and Aizawa was asking him to disengage?
"Katsuki!" Aizawa's voice boomed and the Alpha blinked before settling his eyes on the group of terrified children huddled between them both.
"I hear you," he hissed through clenched teeth. The students were his first priority, but he could see in Aizawa's eyes that he knew. They weren't leaving here without getting information on where his mate was.
"Ah, well isn't this a surprise. I wasn't expecting to see you here, Katsuki Bakugou." Shigaraki halted his approach and lifted a hand to scratch at his throat. "I sure hope this doesn't complicate things for our bunny. No. Bunny knows better," he muttered to himself as a warp appeared behind him.
Katsuki growled and moved the children off to the side as Aizawa stood, ready for a fight. As always, the Hero was ready to go down for his students. "What do you want, Shigaraki?" Aizawa demanded as Katsuki moved up to stand by his side. The children would be most safe behind them both.
"What? No 'welcome back' or 'how are you'? You Heroes really do have no manners," Shigaraki spoke as more members of the LOV began stepping through the portal. Katsuki recognized them all and it sent a heated rage through his core as he watched the people he hated the most gather before his eyes. "You see, that's why we're here to exterminate you. What better way to announce our return than by taking the life of the Hero world's most beloved teacher? Shouta Aizawa, I am afraid this is your end. And right in front of the students, too! How wonderful!"
"Aizawa Sensei!"
Katsuki whirled around at the sound of a student's distressed call. He didn't know what he was expecting to find, but surely his eyes must have been fooling him. The Alpha froze when the most delectable scent surged his senses.
Standing there with dark, murky eyes, Izuku planted himself in front of the students, and Katsuki's heart gunned behind his ribs. The Omega looked different than he remembered; older, and changed by what time had done to him. Katsuki's eyes flicked towards his flat torso, curiously, as Izuku's scent continued to assault him in the best of ways.
"Izuku? My sweet Omega, is it really you?" Katsuki's breath shook as he stepped closer to the boy he had lost so long ago. Only, he wasn't a boy anymore. Izuku had grown slightly taller. His face had matured, but his pale skin remained; slightly sickly looking as if he hadn't seen the sun's rays in ages. The freckles he used to count religiously still scattered the greenette's face. His hair still a forest of curls, just shorter and chopped to a manageable length. It had been so long since he last laid eyes on his mate that he had almost forgotten the dimple that formed when Izuku scowled. But there it was, planted perfectly on his left cheek as the Omega stared heatedly in his direction.
The hatred in his past lover's eyes froze the Alpha's feet to the ground. Katsuki's breath hitched in his throat. The children screamed.
"Bunny. Let's go."
