Convos Not Condos

A/N: I am sorry I haven't updated, and I wouldn't expect frequent updates from now on. I truly am sorry, I just have a lot going on right now. Hopefully, I'll be able to squeeze more in, but I'm working on something else right now which I hope will make me famous and awesome. ;)

The warm fluffy blankets settled over her head, Ella buried in her arms, and she was left in total darkness, no light in sight. Her head rested on the squishy pillow as her hair tickled the back of her neck. Heat radiated from her heavy, slow breaths, trapping the hot air inside the blanket with her. She shut her eyes, letting her fingers grip the stuffed elephant tightly until she released the pressure from her fingers and let her fists relax. Her muscles were sore and a light headache had been nagging her, seemingly wanting to prevent her from sleep. She felt another pain as it shot through her temple and made her think back to her conversation with Keefe.

"I've been having these headaches... they don't feel very good, although you know that first hand." She mumbled quietly, twiddling her thumbs. He grasped her hands, making her fidgeting come to an end and asked, "Why didn't you tell anyone? Elwin? Me?" The last word was the sounded so small, that if the word was an animal, it would look like an ant standing next to a blue whale.

"I dunno. I guess I just... didn't want to." She glanced back into his eyes again.

"Well, The Mysterious Miss F can conquer anything, can't she?" He flashed his most devious smirk.

She forced a smile back. "I suppose she can."

"When did they start?" He grilled her even further as her shoulders tensed up so tight that her fingers began to shake softly.

"2 months before the coma." He let out a melodramatic sigh, the air whooshing into her face.

"That's great to know." He replied, sarcasm dripping out of his voice as he leaned against the rock wall. "It's not like we should've known months ago." He scoffed, rolling his eyes.

"Yeah." Her bitter response was.

"I didn't know Foster was that adventurous." Shaking his hand, he looked pointedly at her. "Which reminds me, you still haven't told me the rest," He teased her.

She copied his earlier sigh.

"I know..."

And with that, he sauntered away, a slight swagger in his step.

"Wait!" She exclaimed, twisting his shoulder around for him to face her.

"Ouch, no need to be so rough." He winced slightly, a small grimace on his face.

"Sorry," She apologized. "I just... " She contemplated what she should say, shutting her mouth for a moment, her lips forming a different word. "Do I have to?" She whined instead.

"Uhh... Yeah. Duh." He flicked his head to the left, attempting a dramatic hair flip. The length of his hair nor the amount of gel in it did not help. "You promised the Keefester."

She scowled at him, wrinkling her nose. "That nickname is so stupid."

He clutched his heart, stumbling back a few feet, flaunting a very fake pained expression. "How dare you insult the Keefester? Besides, I know you like it." He playfully smacked her shoulder.

She rolled her eyes. "Whatever."

"That was a nice convo." He remarked.

"Condo?" She asked impatiently, the word he had said not registering in her brain. He scoffed and flicked his hands.

"No. I said convo not condo," He enunciated "convo" slowly as if he was speaking to a toddler. "What's a condo? Well, anyway, someone needs a hearing aid." He sang, giving her a small whistle.

"I don- wait, how do you even know- hearing aid?- nevermind." She mumbled. "The rest of the story isn't even that interesting. I just met up with Fintan once. I didn't even get any information out of it." She shrugged, feigning nonchalance.

"See you tomorrow Foster," With a wave of his hand and some sparkles, he stepped into a light from a clear crystal, and she watched as he glittered away. "WAIT WHAT?!"

She knew that was Keefe. And she'd probably have to explain later. But for now, she'd do her best to fall back asleep, and hope he forgot everything she had said.
