Even Snakes Have Breakdowns |Roceit|
*Roceit (Roman x Deceit)*
*Fluffly angst because I feel bad for Deceit*
~~~~~~~
It was currently 11:31pm and Roman coouldn't sleep. Whenever he managed to doze off, he ended up having a nightmare. Deciding that he needed something to help him relax, he made his way to the living room to watch Christopher Robin. Sure, it made him a little sad but it was good nonetheless. On his way to the living room, he saw the kitchen light on.
Curious as to who would be awake at this time of night, he went to investigate. Upon entering the kitchen, he spotted Deceit. The lying trait was at the sink, trying to fill a cup up with water but it was clear he was upset. His hands were shaking badly and were gloveless, his hat was resting on the table, and his cape was half off him.
"Deceit, are you alright?" Roman asked. He didn't see any tears or hear him crying but he did notice how the other's body shook with each silent sob.
"No," Deceit replied, hoping Roman would be dumb enough to think he was saying yes. Roman sighed and walked over to him.
"I might not be the smartest one of the bunch, but I'm not an idiot either. What's wrong?" Roman placed a gentle hand on Deceit's shoulder. The shorter man flinched under his touch but didn't reply. Instead he fell to his knees and silently cried.
Roman then wondered how many times this has happened and no body has ever helped him because of how he never made much noise while crying. Roman gently picked him up and took him to the living room. He gently set Deceit down on the couch and put the movie on. He sat on the couch next to the upset snake and put Deceit in his lap. He stroked his hair while humming the Winnie theme song.
"Tell me what's wrong Dee," Roman murmured. Deceit leaned into his touch, calming down a tiny bit.
"I-I'm sorry I pretended to be Patton, a-and I'm sorry I exist, a-and I'm sorry I'm a dark sss-ss-side.. I-I never meant any harm, I-I just wanted to b-be noticed.." Deceit rambled, going into another crying fit. He hated being seen so vulnerable but he couldn't hold it back anymore; he had finally broke completely. Roman took a moment to realize he was telling the truth rather than lying.
"Hey, hey, it's alright. I forgive you Deceit. You shouldn't be sorry for existing or for being a dark side. You deserve a second chance and I'm willing to give it to you." Roman replied in a hushed tone. He did his best to comfort Deceit, hoping that wasn't making it worse.
"Th-thank you R-Roman..." Deceit choked out. He curled up in Roman's lap and let the other stroke his hair. He found it comforting in a way and began to feel drowsy. He ended up falling asleep on Roman's lap.
Roman didn't blame him; crying that much can wear the body out to the point of extreme exhaustion. He protectively cuddled the sleeping Deceit and watched the movie before falling asleep himself. But before he went to dreamland, he promised Deceit he would protect him from the haters.
