•Karaoke Night part 2•
~~~~~~~~~
Roman was next to do the karaoke. He forced a small smile as he put his song on and grabbed the microphone. It seemed like they were on the angst train with these song, but he didn't care. The prince just wanted them to enjoy the night.
"I wake up to another mess in the living room, broken bottles around my feet. They came again in the night under the crescent moon, didn't wake me from my sleep. Cause they talk and drink and laugh 'bout thing, and fall in love in my backyard." Roman sang gently, unlike his usual optimistic and dramatic self. "I hide and coward in the corner, conversation's getting hard. Cause no body seems to ask about me anymore and nobody seems to care 'bout anything I think. And no body seems to recognize me in the crowd, in the background screaming, "everybody, look at me". "
Virgil knew what he meant. Although the prince claimed to be the best, he still had self doubt. Patton was questioning why his 'sons' were thinking that no one loved them, after all, he told them he loved them all everyday.
"And I'm fading away, you know, I used to be on fire. And I'm fading away, you know, I used to be on fire. I'm standing in the ashes of who I used to be and I'm fading away, you know, I used to be on fire." Roman continued, already regretting his song choice. Maybe he should've done a Disney song like they expected. "You know, I used to be on fire. You know, I used to be on fire, fire. I used to be a darling starlet like a centerpiece, had the whole world wrapped around my ring. I flew too closely to the sun that's setting in the east and now I'm melting from my wings. 'Cause I'd laugh and drink and talk about things, and fall in love in my backyard."
Logan sighed, knowing what's going on. Roman had been dumped by one of the other sides, Loyalty, due to the loyal trait seeing their relationship wasn't working out. Logan and Virgil, being left brains, quickly understood why but didn't want to hurt Roman more.
"Now it's my own anxiety that makes the conversation hard. 'Cause nobody seems to ask me about me anymore and no body ever cares 'bout anything I think. And nobody seems to recognize me in the crowd, in the background screaming, "everybody, look at me"." Roman awkwardly shifted as the memories of the past appeared in his mind. He could feel the tears burning his eyes but he refused to cry. Not right not at least. "And I'm fading away, you know, I used to be on fire. And I'm fading away, you know, I used to be on fire. I'm standing in the ashes of who I used to be, but I'm fading away, you know, I used to be on fire."
Patton finally understood why his "son" was upset and wanted to comfort the man. It took Deceit a bit longer (despite being Patton's opposite and the father figure to the dark sides) but when he did understand, he felt ashamed.
"You know, I used to be on fire. You know, I used to be on fire. Well, I used to be on fire. You know, I used to be on fire. You know, I used to be on fire. You know, I used to be on fire, fire..." Roman finished and shakily put the microphone back. He quickly wiped his teary eyes and sat back in his seat.
Patton immediately hugged him. So did Virgil and Logan, even if they didn't necessarily like hugs or emotions. Deceit watched the others smile have a strong friendship while he sat there with s fake smile plastered on his face. It was good enough for him that they even invited to karaoke night.
"Who's next?"
