Chapter XIX
At the picture above I have put a size compare between a male Norwegian Forest cat (Ghost's cat form) and a human, just so you guys realize how large those cats truly are - they are among some of the largest cat breeds you find in a home. They are awesome! :D

Chapter XIX
"What happened to the spider?" Ana asked.
I pointed towards the pile of ashes at my feet and her eyes widened – Alec still seemed to be trying to comprehend everything, too stunned to talk.
"You... burned it to ashes?"
"Uhm... yes. I guess I did."
"Magic sword," Alec finally spoke, staring at Glorious. "It really was a magical sword."
"Angel sword actually," I corrected him. Alec stared at me with a blank look before staring at the blade once more.
"Perhaps we should all sit down," Ana offered, pointing her finger at me. "You have some explanation to do."
.
Sheathing Glorious and putting the blade away in the sports bag, I turned towards my friends. The three of us stared at each other for a while, unmoving and unblinking, the silence so thick and tense it could be cut with a knife. Neither of us really knew where to start.
The silence finally becoming too much for me, I cleared my throat. "Where should I start?" I asked softly.
"Where did you get the angel sword?" Alec asked after a while, his curiosity getting the best of him. Of course he would ask about the weapon first.
"My grandmother gave it to me," I replied. "First it used to belong to Gabriel. The Archangel," I clarified, I saw Ana's eyes widen and held up my hand to silence her. "Gabriel gave it to my grandmother and told her to hand it over to me once I got older. That's what she told me at least."
"Why would an Archangel give you his sword?" Alec asked again.
"I don't know yet," I said. I had some ideas of course. Maybe it had something to do with my 'destiny' to save the world together with a fallen angel who tried to kill me. But I wasn't telling them that. Not yet at least. One step at a time, I reminded myself.
They seemed to buy it.
"Are you a hunter?" Ana blurted out. I locked my gaze with hers. "As in a real-life hunter. Just as in the show," she added, referring to Supernatural. I nodded my head. "How long?" She continued wide-eyed.
"Not too long after I met Mr. Mysterious," I replied, referring to the nickname Ana gave to Lucas.
"Demon?" Alec piped in, his voice squeaky.
"No," I answered, "he's a fallen angel."
"He calls himself Lucas," I added as an afterthought.
"Lucas?" Ana questioned, arching up one of her eyebrows.
"It's not his real name. He said so himself." I did not told them about the times Lucas tried to kill me, or hurt me in any way. I did not want them to worry about me. "He's most likely the Alpha of New York."
"First of his kind?" Alec tried, digging into the knowledge he gained from binge watching Supernatural all the time.
I chuckled slightly. "That's one of the things the show was off on," I replied. "Alpha does not mean 'first of his-her kind', not necessarily at least. It's a title that goes to the most powerful being of a large city, or even entire states or continents." I explained. "My grandfather is convinced that Lucas is the Alpha of America, as in the entire continent. We don't know for sure though. We don't know all that much about him."
"Hold on," Alec stopped me, holding up his hands. "Your grandfather?" He asked in disbelief. "He's a hunter too?!"
"And my grandmother as well," I replied to that. I leaned back on the couch, making it myself a bit more comfortable. "Apparently, we come from a long line of hunters. The Pierce family that is. Starting with Christopher Pierce, who's the son of an angel."
"An angel?" Alec tried, attempting to wrap his head around it all. "So you have what, angel blood pumping through your veins?"
"Yes, even though it has drastically thinned down through the generations. The only thing I inherited really is the ability to see the world as it truly is." I thought about my own words for a while. Is that really all I gained from my angel blood? I thought about my strange headaches and how I was somehow capable to read and understand a strange language I have never seen or heard before. Maybe that has something to do with my faerie bloodline? I guessed to myself, thinking back to when my grandmother told me she was the descendant of faeries.
I started filling in my friends as much as I could, leaving out only a few things. I was not planning on telling them about the translations Metatron gave me of the letters I found hidden in the journal for instance, the way Metatron pressed them into my hand and how he carried it around told me its contents were important and that it was not just meant for everyone to know. I did not told them anything about Ghost being an angel as well, it just did not felt like it was my place to tell his identity to my human friends. And I tried to avoid telling them as much about Lucas as I could, which was much harder seeing as Ana was adamant on getting everything about him out of me – fallen angels seemed to fascinate her.
"I really don't know that much about him," I told Ana again. "Even the creatures who live in this city don't know that much about their Alpha," I added, recalling how even Jason – my werewolf co-worker – knew nothing about Lucas except for one thing. That he's very dangerous and that I seem to have piqued his interest, which is apparently a very bad thing.
Seeming to notice my discomfort about talking about Lucas, Alec changed the subject. "Next to angels and monster spiders, what kind of other beings did you encounter?"
"It started with two dragons..." I started to say, but was interrupted by Ana.
"DRAGONS!!" She shrieked loudly, a wide grin on her face, the fallen angel long forgotten. I lightly grinned to myself. Ana has always loved dragons, ever since she was younger she was fascinated by those giant flying reptiles.
Kind of like I was always fascinated by fallen angels when I was younger, I realized.
"What kind of dragons?" Ana fired at me.
"One was a fire dragon and the other one freely controlled lightning and the weather. They were fighting above the skyline of New York." I had already explained to them why only certain people – like myself – can see the mythical creatures, so I did not need to explain to them why nobody else noticed the dragons above a busy place as Manhattan.
"The lightning one probably won, did it not?" Alec asked.
I nodded my head. "According to many lores and journals of hunters who encountered it, the lightning dragon is the most powerful dragon kind. They are very territorial and they don't tolerate other dragons in their territories. The fire dragon was doomed the moment it came to New York."
I did not told them that the fire dragon had almost managed to kill me in its rampaging flames before it got killed itself and turned to ashes by the lightning dragon, who later got called back by the Alpha.
"I really want to see a dragon," Ana grumbled.
"I don't want to see one," Alec added to that. "They seem rather dangerous if you ask me."
"Let's hope you guys don't walk into one," I muttered under my breath, too low for them to hear.
They seem to take it well, I thought to myself. They weren't freaking out – not really – and they weren't running away either. Ana always had an open mind and I recall Alec once telling us that he used to live in a haunted house when he was younger.
It felt like a weight was lifted off my chest, it never sat well with me to hide secrets and lie to my friends. Now that I did not had to anymore – not really at least – I felt much lighter and more at ease around them. I still had to be careful not to drag them in too much, but just talking with them about it seems doable.
I thought about the monster spider I encountered in Alec's apartment. What was it even doing there? Looking at how large the spider was, I cannot imagine it was adjusted to city life. I would imagine that a creature like that lived in the mountains or a thick forest.
Once more, dark blue eyes filled my mind. Is Lucas related to it in any way? I couldn't help but think, a bad feeling growing deep within my gut. First he had tried to simply tell me to stay away from him, which obliviously did not work. Then he dumped my soul in the Silent Ocean, using my fear for open waters against me. And now he quite possibly released a monster spider on my friends. Just how far is he willing to go?
He's using my fears against me, I realized in horror. It wouldn't really surprise me if he was the one to put the monstrous spider in my friend's bathroom. Or am I simply exaggerating and seeing things when there's nothing to see? You never know for sure with angels - especially fallen angels, my subconsciousness noted.
"You will most likely get burned to dead by one of those dragons," I heard Alec say to Ana, dragging me back into the conversation. Looking up, I blinked my eyes and saw Alec turn towards me. "You're going to hunt more monsters tonight?" He asked me with a grin, seeming truly fascinated by it all.
"Generally," I said slowly, thinking about my choice of words, "I don't search them up. I don't go looking for it – not if I have a choice in the matter. They just seem to find me." Just like how me and Lucas also always seem to be able to find each other.
"So you're saying that you're a monster magnet?" Ana asked, arching her eyebrows. "Is there such a thing as a monster magnet?"
"I don't know honestly," I said truthfully. I should ask Ghost about that one, I thought. If there really is such a thing as a 'monster magnet', I'm probably it.
Glancing at the clock and noticing it was getting late, I turned back towards my friends. "I should probably get going," I apologized to them. "I do have work tomorrow and I still need to dig into some lore."
"Do you have to?" Ana whined disappointed. "I want to hear more about those dragons..."
"Later, okay?" I told her. "I promise."
An exaggerated sigh left her lips as she stood up. She dramatically held out her arms and wrapped them tightly around me. "Well, take care then," she said and I hugged the red-head back. "Don't get eaten by some kind of weird ass monster."
Pulling back and grinning widely, I replied. "Don't worry. If any monster comes after me, I turn them to ashes." Ana grinned back and another pair of arms was wrapped around us. We both looked up and saw Alec with a wide grin, his black hair a mess on top of his head.
"Bye!" He yelled and both me and Ana winched from his loud volume. Ana hit him in the chest and the poor guy gasped for breath, stepping back slightly.
"Don't do that, jerk!" I complained.
Alec winked. "Shut up, bitch." He started pushing me towards the exit, Ana laughing at us as we went. I held the sports bag and my laptop bag tightly in my hold and let him push me out.
When I stood outside Alec's apartment, I ruffled his hair one last time before I ran away, laughing as he started complaining and cussing about me ruining his hair. "Bye, Alec!" I yelled, and then I stood inside the elevator, a grin on my face.
.
"Ghost!" I yelled the moment I stepped inside my home. "I'm back!"
Soon I heard the clicking of sharp claws on my wooden floor and the large white cat poked his furry head out of the hallway and looked my way. Hello, he replied in his musical voice.
Holding the sport bag with Glorious in it close to my body, I walked closer and kneeled down in front of my Guardian Angel, stroking his soft ears. "Alec and Ana know," I said softly, absently stroking the white fur.
Mismatched green eyes looked up. "There was this monstrous spider in Alec's bathroom the size of a car. Ana saw it first."
Are they alright? Ghost asked, genuinely concerned about my friends – even Ana who had the bad habit of stepping on his tail.
"They are not hurt," I answered, "and they took it all rather well."
Ghost rubbed his head against the hand that was petting him. Give them a few days to let it sink it. It will be alright, he assured me.
"Did I make the right choice?" I asked, speaking my fears aloud. "Telling them, I mean."
You are the only one who can truly decide that, the angel spoke softly. What do you think?
"I don't really know what to think," I replied with a sigh. "I haven't told them about you, though. Or about the notes Metatron gave me." I added, Ghost made a deep humming noise in reply.
Have you already read them? He asked, referring to the notes.
"Not yet," I replied, "I plan to do it now." I stood up once more and went towards the stairs leading upstairs, I glanced back towards the angel who still stood in the hallway, staring at the bag holding Glorious with an unreadable expression.
That bag... I heard him say as he followed me silently. There's an angel blade in there, isn't it?
"My grandmother gave it to me," I replied, "she said it used to belong to the Archangel Gabriel."
"Did you know Gabriel?" I asked out of curiosity.
You could say so, was the reply I got. Ghost walked past me, his tail swaying the air while an invincible force pushed open my door as he walked inside.
"Did you... just opened my door with your powers?" I asked in bewilderment, climbing the last few steps as I entered my room myself.
Ghost was seated on my bed, his tail curled around him. Yes, he simply said. Shaking my head, I put the sports bag down on my bed and took my laptop bag instead, taking out the - now slightly wrinkled - notes Metatron handed to me.
I shared a look with Ghost before I looked down at the notes once more.
Metatron appears to have translated them to the same strange language Christopher had written the hidden parts of his journal in. While looking at the runes, they seemed to shudder and I could read them - the headache that came with it barely noticeable.
I glanced up at Ghost. "Why did Metatron translate it to this language?"
He told me that its contents are not meant for everyone to know, Ghost replied, he wrote it down in this language so that only you would be able to understand. Only you and angels.
"Angels..." I repeated, staring down at the glowing runes, "is this one of the languages of Heaven? Can I what, read it because I have an angel ancestor?
Yes, Ghost replied vaguely. It's Enochian, the language of Heaven.
Nodding my head, I turned back towards the runes. Enochian, I mentally repeated to myself. "What was the original language?" I asked again, my curiosity getting the best of me.
The first language, Ghost replied, it was the original language of men. The Semitic languages such as Canaanite and Hebrew evolved from the first language. At the beginning, all humans spoke the same language, but God refused the language of men and send the Archangel Michael to scatter the nations and to destroy the Tower of Babel. Michael removed the original language from men's memories. Lucas wrote his letters in this very language because he knew that Cassiel taught it to Christopher.
"That's quite the history lesson," I muttered under my breath, recognizing the Tower of Babel from some lore. I did not know that it was Michael who destroyed it though...
"Time to read those notes," I muttered under my breath. I shifted around a bit on my bed to make myself more comfortable and I started reading them, Ghost watching me closely.

Lucifer: Hello, you imbeciles. It appears that the author is... somewhere else, so I'm the one who will wrap this chapter up nicely this time.
Harlynn: If by 'somewhere else' you mean that you locked the author away in a cage... who even put you in charge?
Lucifer: Shut up! I put myself in charge!
Lucifer: Truth to be told... I don't really care what just happened during the chapter, because I'm not even in it. So I make up for that by taking charge of the author's note.
Harlynn: *mutters* More like throwing a temper tantrum here...
Lucifer: I heard that!
Harlynn: Alright, readers, just ignore this winged fool. Don't forget to vote, comment and share if you liked the chapter!
Lucifer: *mutters grumpily* They did not like it because I was not even in it...
Harlynn: Alright, alright, we get it. Don't worry, I'm sure you will appear soon enough! Wings and all.
Lucifer: *disappears in a burst of blue fire*
Harlynn: He really sucks at saying goodbye, doesn't he?
Harlynn: Anyway, if you have any questions/ dares for me, our dramatic friend or any other character, make sure that you comment them below. Bye!
Hugs and knives,

Ps. I didn't really knew what to put here, so I simply decided to let my characters take charge...
Pps. Lucifer did not really locked me away in a cage... he just thought he did ;)
