First Day
" Foster!" Sophie heard the familiar call of one of her best friends, Keefe Sencen, calling her name. She turned to see him running towards her down the hall.
" Mr. Sencen!" A hall monitor stopped him. " It's only the first day of school and you're already running?"
Keefe pointed towards Sophie. " She needs help."
Sophie rolled her eyes. The hall monitor let go of Keefe and he somewhat calmly fast walked towards her.
" First day of senior year going well?" He asked with a wink.
" Keefe, I got here like five seconds ago." Sophie told him.
" Right," He nodded thoughtfully.
" Yippee! Senior year!" Another one of Sophie's best friends, Biana Vacker, squealed and opened her locker right next to Sophie. Her brother, another of Sophie's friends, Fitz Vacker, followed her footsteps.
" I thought you hated school," Sophie said to Biana. The petite girl wrinkled her nose. " I do. But it's our last year of school!"
" Yo, cuz," Dex Dizznee tapped Sophie on the shoulder.
" Hey cuz!" She greeted him with a smile. " Where's the twins?" She looked over shoulder into the sea of the crowded hallway. Just then, the five minute bell rang.
" You know they'll be late," Fitz rolled his eyes.
" Ha, Fitz, not this time!" Linh Song exclaimed breathlessly, running up to the group. Tam Song, her twin, trailed more slowly.
" Oh. Well. Good job." Fitz said slowly.
" C'mon Foster, you'll be late to first hour, which you have with....." Keefe glanced at his schedule, " Me!"
" Grand," Sophie muttered. She gathered her supplies and reluctantly said goodbye to the rest of her friends. She slid into her assigned seat just as her english teacher walked in.
" Happy senior year, students," Ms. Anderson said with no smile whatsoever.
" Well isn't she bouncing off the walls today," Keefe whispered to Sophie. Sophie put a hand over her mouth to smother a giggle just as Ms. Anderson looked at them.
" Mr. Sencen, I've heard quite a few tales about you, and I'm not going to let you bypass me with your little ' pranks.' Just warning you."
Keefe crossed his arms and pretended to pout.
Soon it was time for lunch. Sophie found out that she had lunch with the twins and Dex.
Sophie told them what had happened in english class and asked how their days were going.
" Fine," Dex said with a frown.
" He's unhappy because he fell on his face in PE," Linh informed her and Tam.
Sophie giggled and Dex glared at her. " Oops."
" That's what he said!" Linh exclaimed. " Everyone laughed at him. " Except for me. I'm nice."
Sophie found that the rest of the day went quickly and she hurried home to change and get ready for soccer practice. She and Biana were auditioning for the team this year.
" I hope we get in," She fought the urge to pull out an eyelash as the two friends stood in line.
" You'll be fine. Just try not be a clutz."
" Easy for you to say. You're way more graceful then me."
When Sophie went up to kick, she heard a crowd of people calling her, cheering for her.
" Go Sophie! Yeah Foster! S-o-p-h-i-e ! Go get 'em, tiger!"
The chanting helped her calm down, and in the end, both girls made it on the team.
" Thanks guys," She told her friends as they all walked home.
" No problem." Dex smiled so big it showed his dimples.
Sophie smiled. This was turning out to be a good day.
