Chapter 20

Ayesha's POV

I almost had a minor heart attack when I  reached home back while seeing all the arrangements and decorations they did for me. Only to celebrate my win. I can't believe this.

This is fantastic.

Guess, whose brain is behind all this? Only a man who can manage an entire hotel and the works associated with it can do all these arrangements in few hours.

Shamz, you really made me feel very special today. Never in my life I feel so much wanted like this.

Being an introvert and always spending time away from crowds, I used to not celebrate any of my achievements. But today they surprised me. First Zain and now Shamz. And the entire family is now congratulating me.

This is so overwhelming.

Bapuji hugged me and kissed my forehead. He talked a lot about how much he wanted to see me as a doctor. He was very happy. My eyes got welled up while seeing the pride in his eyes.

I feel happy seeing Mama's smile. She is celebrating like she had won a treasure. And as usual she wont stop talking today. She gone around talking about me with all the people who came infront of her.

I wish my baba was also with me today to see all this. To see his daughter finally as a doctor. But I know he would be seeing all this and will also be celebrating his happiness in a better place. I can feel his blessings showering over me. He was a great father and will always remains as one. I am happy to be his daughter.

My cousins are applauding me around me. Aunties are giving me envious looks.

Everything is making me cry. The happiness. It's too much for me to handle. I wanted to run away to hide my tears. But a hand on my shoulder stopped me from doing so.

"Happy tears. Am I right?" Zain grinned at me.

I nodded.

"So what about a little celebration? Come on. Let's rock it."

"Not now please."

I moved away from him while he was chasing me.

"Please Zain. Let me rest for a while. I am tired."

Suddenly his face changed into a worried expression .

"Why? What about your leg? Is it aching?"

"Zain. I am fine. My leg will nomore trouble me. Its perfectly ok now."I assured him.

"Are you sure?"

I nodded my head and gestured him to smile. He finally smiled. The day when he came here, he was just a naughty funny guy who was only interested in wasting time. Today he is not less than a perfect concerned gentleman. At least for me. And I should also acknowledge that I too changed a lot. A lot.

"Where is that idiot Shamz who is behind all this?" I intentionally asked to change the topic.

"Goshhhh....leave him for a while Ayesha. Why always Shamz? Call Zain Zain Zain...that would be better."he frowned and that worked. I laughed out loudly.

He was looking at me in astonishment.

"Thank you Zain. You made me laugh a lot today.  You did a lot for me. Firstly you took me to the doctor. Then that surprises ...thanks a lot. See my smile. You owns it."

I was happy that I spoke from heart. He is still in wonder. When he was thinking deeply, I slowly moved away from there to take the much wanted rest.
.
.
.

"Tell me something Shamz. It's been half an hour you are looking at me as if I am an alien."

"Exactly you are."Shamz laughed as if he was waiting to tell that.

I playfully punched his arm.

"Hey doctor maam. You are not supposed to hurt anyone. You are meant to save lives. Understand?" He stopped me.

I glared at him.

"Why are you always making fun of me? Be serious man. I am here to thank you since you are the one who first knew the news about my rank. You made me surprise with all the decorations inside our house. You made this day of mine as a beautiful and memorable one. You are one of the greatest friend anyone can ask for. Thank you so much Shamz."I hugged him and he patted my back.

"Actually I dont know how to express my happiness. I am so happy for you Ayesha. I dont know whether I was happier like this even when my sister got married."he made me laugh.

"But today I am really happy. Because of you."he pulled back from the hug.

"You are so brave and hard working. Even after many struggles you achieved what you wanted to be. Your dream career. Many many Congratulations dear."he cupped my cheeks and I felt overwhelmed.

"Thank you Shamz. You helped me a lot when I was at Bangalore. Thank you for being with me always."

"Its my duty dear. Actually we were not that close during our childhood. But Bangalore helped us a lot to get along with each other. May be it's the time when you really needed my help. I am glad that I could do that."

"You are right. Bangalore had given me a lot. Among all I can never exclude my cousin whom I regained from there. That's the big one I gained from there. "I giggled.

"So what's your next plan?"he asked after a few minutes.

"What's next? Yes, ofcourse I need to practice under a good doctor in a good hospital. At least for a few years..."I stopped abruptly.

"What's after that?"he raised his eyebrows.

"Then....nothing ...."I didn't want to talk about my dream. At least now. Let him know at the right time.

"Oh I got it. After a few years you definitely have to be settled down. Like all other girls. That you meant right? Wanna get married? But who is your choice? Another doctor?"he irked me.

"Shut up. I have no plans to marry. It has to  happen at the right time. No discussions now. And no preplans too."I made it clear.

"But seeing you a few days ago I thought you were planning to get married immediately after Zahra Aapa."he laughed and I glared at him.

"Just stop this man. You ....."I smacked him with my arm.

"Hey I am serious. I can see a lot of changes in you after you left Bangalore. Here someone have welcomed me who is completely opposite to whom I know at Bangalore."he said making me alert.

"Its not like....that Shamz...Actually here its another world. So definitely there will be changes...like getting along with all my cousins after a long time...then marriage preparations and all. I had to behave differently."I stammered.

"Oh was that the reason? But I really missed that old Ayesha. Still likes this new version."he smiled.

"What would happen after everyone leaves? I heard that Asiya aunty and family is gonna book their tickets soon. They are so eager to reach back London. I wish they are here for some more days."he said and I pretended to be unaffected.

"And soon after that, everyone starts leaving one by one. Actually after coming here I thought that I got my childhood back. Was missing all those days and seeing all together I too became that old kid. Now again gonna miss all our cousins."he continued.

"You are right. I will too miss these days."I said.

"Hey dont worry. I will ask one among us to get married soon. Therefore another wedding season coming again. But who should be that?"he asked thinking.

"Why can't that be you?"I smacked his head.

"Not me....I am still a kid....hm....got it. Why cant it be you?"he rolled his eyes.

"Me...????"I glared at him.
"From where did you get such an idea? See I am not planning to settle down anytime soon."I declared.

"Why can't you?"he asked back.

"I have a beautiful career waiting for me. And it's my dream. I want to live it. There should be nothing that distracts me from living my life."

"Great..."he exclaimed.

"Wait. Why did you take this topic today?"I asked suddenly striking something in my mind.

"Because your mama told me to to talk with you. About your marriage."he stated simply making me shout at the top of my voice.

"What the hell?????????" I was shocked.
"What mama wants now?"I sighed.

"Your studies are over and Zehra Aapa's marriage is also done. May be she wants to see you as a bride soon. Just mom's things."he laughed.

"Just stop it. You idiot. Why can't you tell her that I am not yet ready for a marriage now?"

"She asked me to talk with you and let her know your mind. That too secretly. But being a good friend of you I cant hide anything from you. Now my job is over. Think well and talk with her directly. There is no need of anyone between a mother and a daughter."he said.

"But Shamz....I...."

"Shhh...listen."he held my shoulders.
"Ayesha..I can completely understand you. Your thoughts are right. It's just that you should let your mother know about your dreams. Make her understand that it's not just a profession for you, but your passion that let you lead your days."he smiled.

"What if she dont understand me?"

He laughed as a response. I glared at him.

"Listen. She is your mama. If you cant make her understand, then who else can? Take this as a chance. You always accepted challenges in your life."

"Shamz. But...."

"No buts. Go and talk with her dear. After all noone can understand you in this world more than your own mother."he encouraged me and I nodded.

With that he walked away.

I fell into a dilemma...now what's next? Why mama always comes with these kind of challenges in my life?
