A/n: happy new year bitchez (☞^o^) ☞
"Huh."
Jungkook grabbed to his chin. "I never knew there were members of the royal family that had divine powers."
"There aren't," Jimin spat, his thoughts all over the place now that it was finally made clear to him that his dreams were most definitely not ordinary.
"You said you saw me in your vision," the prince said, hungry for more information. "What exactly did you see?"
Jimin noticed how the demigod's cheeks suddenly flushed into an intense shade of rose. "Oh, just - well - just your - uhm... your... face?"
Jimin blinked. "My face."
"Y-yeah..."
The half-god seemed to have lost himself inside the darkness of Jimin's eyes once again, and something told the young prince that the boy wasn't telling him the complete truth.
"Then what did I say?" The prince asked on. "Did I do anything? Did I tell you anything? If you have visions does that mean you knew this moment would happen? When it would happen?'"
The demigod parted his lips to speak, but remained silent as he couldn't find the right words just yet.
"Well..." He began. "Maybe not this exact moment... but - "
"Then tell me what you did see!" Jimin urged impatiently, cornering the half-god against the wall in the warm light of a single torch.
The prince left little space between him and the demigod, and watched the boy gulp like a frightened child.
"I - I see flashes of events... or events relating to events... or even things that make no sense at all," Jungkook explained hurriedly. "It's like a puzzle. If I solve it, I am one step closer to the future than anybody else."
Jungkook gave the prince a half-smile as he continued. "However, most of the time I seem to be too lazy to figure it out. I feel it would kind of suck the fun out of life, don't you think? Knowing exactly when bad things or good things will happen... It would mean, every war, every romance, every tragedy... is already set in stone and irreversible..."
The demigod's expression softened, and his eyes crinkled with the smile he gave Jimin. "I don't want to believe that to be true. I think the future can always change, even if something is destined to happen."
The prince stared in astonishment at the half-god, completely and utterly baffled by the boy's immense stupidity.
He was gifted with sight over the future, one of the most powerful abilities in the world, and he chose to give it up for... for fun? For the thrill of not knowing when he'd die?
Jimin could only imagine what he would do if he'd known of this ability sooner. So many problems avoided, so many issues solved.
"You foolish child," Jimin whispered, shaking his head as he couldn't begin to fathom how someone with this amount of power could act so recklessly and immature.
"Foolish child?" Jungkook asked, cocking his head sideways like a pup.
Jimin crossed his arms over each other and squinted at the demigod. "Who even raised you to think in such a passive way?"
Jumgkook pouted his lips. "M-my brother! He taught me everything I know! Like... not hurting people just because I can... not taking advantage of my abilities, not letting greed turn my heart into stone."
Jimin rolled his eyes at the naive lessons the half-god was reciting. "You can't be serious," he said, deadpan. "Does your brother truly believe we live in some sort of fairytale? Some Utopia where people will simply love you because you are kind? That they will kiss your feet because you spare them? Kindness is not a virtue, demigod. In this world only the strong survive. They take, they choose, they rule. But the weak... they are replaceable and insignificant. It has always been this way..."
The prince looked up to see clear disagreement show itself on the demigod's face.
"Well, my brother taught me how to be a good person," he said, confidently raising his chin as Jimin found the boy often did. "I'd rather be a good person than rich or powerful."
Jimin scoffed and shook his head, stepping away from the demigod to create some distance between them. It was clear to him now that his father had been right all along. The boy was immature and naive. There wasn't a single shred of rationality within him and there was no way he could ever harm even a fly.
"Take it from me, half-god," Jimin sighed, his tone melancholy with years of experience. "There is nothing more draining... nothing more soul-crushing than being a good person."
The shoulders of the demigod drooped as though all his vigor had been extracted from his body.
"You are really not... how I imagined you to be," he whispered, frowning as though he truly were perplexed by the revelation.
Jimin released an indignant breath, feeling inexplicable anger at the boy's disappointment. "Your expectations of me based upon some vague vision are frankly the least of my concerns. And might I add that I never claimed to be The Kind Prince. I never said that I was compassionate or selfless or anything of the sort. The people simply never bothered to look beyond my smile."
Jimin wrapped his arms around his waist and avoided the demigod's stare as the dejection in the boy's round doe eyes was equal to the one a child would wear if their favorite hero had turned into a foe.
"I need to get home to my brother," Jungkook said after a moment of silence, the pitter patter of dripping pipes that were the sewage system of the palace, forming a calming ambience in a tense situation.
"You know I am innocent, don't you?"
Jungkook bravely stepped towards the prince and took some of the boy's nightgown between his fingers.
"Help me escape," he whispered, drawing the prince closer by the delicate lace fabric. "I did not commit the crime your brother has accused me of. I did not cause the king's disappearance."
Jimin's breath was taken from his lungs and floated into the air like midnight smoke, his chest softly brushing the demigod's muscled upper body.
The audacity, the prince thought to himself, feeling the young man's strong heart beat simultaneously with his own in a simple duet.
"You're a prisoner..." Jimin stated.
"I am innocent."
"You're a monster."
"Do I look like a monster to you?"
Jimin glared up at the escaped convict. "Even monsters can be beautiful. You are nothing but a fanthom of evil that drank from the roots of good."
Jungkook sighed, but it was a sigh that took more out of him than just air. "Then I will escape on my own," he stated, glancing at the black hole that lay at the end of the narrow corridor. "I don't need your help anyway... mean prince."
Jimin felt as though he'd been abandoned in an icy storm when the demigod walked away from him, an unpleasant shiver ambushing his body.
"Wait," he said, trailing after. "I never said I wouldn't help you."
Jungkook looked back at Jimin with a smile so wide it looked like it hurt.
The prince strutted forward without sparing the boy a glance and assuredly took the lead. "There's a hidden passageway that leads to the stables. You can borrow a horse from there and ride home, but you and your brother should leave the capital if you want to keep your head."
Jungkook nodded and followed the prince like an obedient pet. "Thank you," he said as though some of the lost faith in the prince had now been restored.
"But I have a question," the demigod went on, leisurely following the prince with his hands locked behind his back.
"You said earlier you receive visions like me, but you never explained what happens in your dreams."
Jimin pulled the demigod with him by his arm when he almost took a wrong turn.
"They are as you said," he whispered, though his voice still echoed through the labyrinth. "They allow me to see the future. Whatever I dream happens."
Jungkook's brows knitted together as he was dragged along. The boy grew more disoriented by the second and knew he would never be able to escape the elaborate maze on his own.
"Whatever you dream happens?" He questioned. "Well, that isn't quite how visions wor-"
Jimin pressed his pointer finger against the demigod's lips to silence the talkative teenager.
"Stay. Quiet," he whispered sternly.
Jungkook gulped, his eyes crossing to look at the small finger shushing him.
"Sorry," he murmured, before the two boys continued to tip toe down the hallways, skilfully avoiding every guard roaming through the palace corridors.
It was at a certain point however, when the demigod began to grow restless, and reached out to tug at the prince's nightgown.
"Miste- I mean, Your Royal Highness, I don't wish to sound impatient or anything, but we've been walking for quite some time now..."
Jungkook nervously looked around himself. "Don't you think we might get caught if we stay here for too long?"
Jimin lead the way into a corridor that Jungkook vaguely recognised. It was one of the first he'd passed after fighting his way out of the dungeons.
"Y-your Highness I think we might've taken a wrong-"
Jimin clenched his hand into a strong fist and threw a violent punch against the demigod's temple.
The boy was instantly knocked out, collapsing on his knees in front of the prince like a house of cards.
"GUARDS!" Jimin yelled at the top of his lungs.
Uniformed men gathered from the dungeons and pointed their pointed spears at the unconscious half-god.
"Seize him," Jimin ordered plainly, in dire need of a hot bath and a bottle of wine after this whole ordeal had been dealt with.
The guards captured the senseless demigod while the boy pried his eyes open to figure out what had happened.
He looked up, frowning and squinting at the prince as though he were seeing double. "You... You lied," he groaned.
"See to it that he has no access to light, you fools," Jimin said, watching his knuckles gradually turn into a greyish blue colour. "He is Apollo's son. As long as there is light he will continue to draw energy from it."
"Yes, Your Highness," the guards replied in unison while they chained the demigod's hands and feet.
"Please, please find my brother..." Jungkok begged. "If I'm going to die please find out if he is okay, I beg you."
Jungkook barely resisted as he was being dragged away, though tears welled in his doe eyes. "His name is Kim Seokjin... please, I need to know that he is okay."
Jimin ignored the pleeding boy and sighed deeply, turning around to walk away with an unbothered expression.
You did not show him mercy...
The prince's composure faltered for a split second, his eyes fluttering at the sound of his father's voice.
"It is not within my power. Namjoon decided his fate and I will not go against him."
You want to...
Jimin rolled his eyes and groaned.
"What I want doesn't matter," he said sternly, slowly finding his way back to the inhabited parts of the palace.
It could matter if you were not such a weakling. Has swallowing your words for so long not made you terribly sick?
Jimin huffed, not even realising he was passing a kitchenmaid when he answered. "Well it might've if I am hearing voices."
When will you finally start acting like a man? When will you grow up and use your mouth for something other than sucking cock?
"Shut up!" Jimin hissed between his teeth. "All my life you've insulted me, mocked me, shamed me for being alive! But you are dead now no matter how much Namjoon tries to deny it! Your reign is over, and you shall be remembered as nothing but a drunk old fool."
"Jimin?"
Jimin snapped his head towards the voice of his dear brother, who stood at the end of the hallway, staring at him with an unreadable expression.
"Who are you speaking with?"
