"I'll help you," Taehyung smiled.

The sky rumbled loudly, snapping the boy back to reality as he took a step back, "I'm sorry but why would you do that for me?" Jungkook raised a question as he trembled slightly, eyeing the man; the flickering light of the lantern glistening on his beguile face.

Taehyung clicked his tongue, sighing as he moved forth a step, now looming over the boy, "Listen, I don't retain any terrible intentions. To be frank, I just happen to have some free time on my hands and thought you could do great with the understanding about your powers that I hold," he reasoned sincerely with a kind smile.

Jungkook's doe eyes looked at him with sudden fondness as the corner of his lips curled upwards, "I-I—what? Are you sure, sir? You would do that for me?" he questioned, not believing the man in front of him. Taehyung only smirked and went back to grab a Bellamy shirt with a pair of black pants out of his wardrobe and spun around.

"It's Taehyung, not 'sir'. You keep calling me that but it only makes me feel aged, which I'm not, yet," he conceded while smiling to himself and then walked past Jungkook who in turn, was still somewhat dazzled by the man's benevolence.

Jungkook bowed suddenly, snagging the man's attention, "I can't thank you enough, s—Taehyung!" he exclaimed, making the man chuckle.

"Don't be so formal with me now," Taehyung remarked and left the room for the boy to get changed. The door closed behind him and Jungkook couldn't help but giggle, eager to acquire more information about the powers that he had no idea how to wield.

The boy wore a big smile on his face as he got changed. He then walked out of the room and down the stairs but to his surprise, the man who saved him was nowhere to be seen; the fire crackling in the hearth. Where is he? Jungkook thought as he slowly walked forward while glancing around cautiously.

"Mister!" Heeyoung chirped suddenly which made the boy flinch in surprise, "are you looking for my brother?" she asked, poking her head out from behind the armchair just ahead. Jungkook flashed an uncertain smile as he scratched the back of his neck.

"I—um, yes? I just had a few... doubts about some things that we talked about before," Jungkook told the girl, who was surrounded by dozens of novels on the carpeted floor.

The girl gently puts aside the book which she had been reading —Alice's Adventures in Wonderland— and stood up, her pink sublime dress with white patches of flowers moving elegantly as she did.

"He told me he'll be back in an hour, mostly two. Or three," she shrugged.

Jungkook raised his eyebrows in shock, "H-He's not here?" he questioned and the girl replied with a nod. She then ran past him and inside a doorway that he hasn't had any time to heed before. Not knowing what to do, Jungkook hesitantly followed her.

It was a room with bookshelves so enormous that they touched the ceiling up above. The girl stood near one of the many shelves subsisting here while her eyes perusal the spine of the books. Jungkook, finding the situation quite awkward cleared his throat, "I'm Jungkook," he acquainted.

"Yes, I know. My brother had told me," she instantly replied and grabbed the heaviest book off the shelf. The boy crossed the room in a hurry to help her put it down on the desk that was positioned in the centre of the room with a loud thud.

He eyed the elegant foreign words engraved on the leather on the front of the book with curiosity. It must weigh more than eight pounds, Jungkook thought. "You're going to attempt to read all of this?" he asked the girl in awe.

"No, mister. You are," Heeyoung asserted and the boy whisked his head to stare at her with a nervous gaze, "my brother wished for you to read this book while he's gone," she notified with an innocent look.

Jungkook's gaze flickered between the book resting on the desk and the girl before finally settling on her, "Did he, now? Well... has he told you the r-reason why I should?" he inquired as he tried to hold up the ancient volume with both of his hands, which he gave up on quickly as he puts it down with a grunt.

"No, he did not. But you may proceed to read it though, my brother is a bit stringent," she mumbled, trying to dread the boy and succeeding when Jungkook took a seat without any more inquisitiveness and opened the heavy book to skim through its pages.

"If you need anything, I'll be in the foyer," she bowed with a mischievous smile and trod out of the study. The clouds outside would occasionally rumble noisily, ever so making Jungkook flinch but he would perpetually calm himself down and would resume reading the book.

The pages of it were fusty with the corners of them slightly torn, just as if they were tracing a silhouette of a chain of mountains. This book held the rarest and most interesting proficiency that one could master. The pictures that were drawn were older than the 17th century, as per the statements narrated under each illustration.

Jungkook was determined to read it all.

The rainstorm was still pouring down heavily outdoors and inside the luxuriant cottage, Jungkook was flipping through the antiquarian book, so focused that he didn't notice another presence besides his own.

"You've almost finished reading the entire book, colour me impressed."

Surprised, Jungkook spun his head to his right to come face to face with Taehyung, who was reading from over the boy's shoulder. Jungkook could feel the man's soft breath on his cheek, further making him flush deeply but instead of pulling away, he stayed put; enjoying the warmth that felt foreign to him but at the same time, quite riveting.

"Now it'll be simpler for me to prepare you," Taehyung complimented and tilted his head to one side, locking his intense gaze with Jungkook's sparkling ones.

"Pretty," Taehyung mumbled under his breath, "you're eyes are pretty, has anyone told you that before?" he conceded with a sweet smile, causing Jungkook's pupils to dilate. The boy's heart skipped a beat just as his breathing altered. He blinks once, not tearing his gaze away from the enchanting face.

"Well..." the boy uttered, flabbergasted.

Taehyung chuckles as he straightens his back after he pulls himself away, "I bet my horse they didn't. Well, terrible for them that they neglected such a loveliness," he said as he, with one hand smoothly closed the book shut.

"You've earned yourself a rest," he then announced as he picked up the heavy leathered volume with ease and placed it back on the shelf and gave Jungkook a side glance, "I'll be cooking the dinner soon so if you wish, you can take a doze in my room upstairs. I'll wake you up when the dinner's ready," Taehyung endorsed with a smile as he perceived the boy's eyelids drooping.

Too tired to resist an offer like that, Jungkook meekly thanked the man who in return told him to hurry, for Taehyung wished for the boy to regain his strength back before they would eat and later on, dabble with Jungkook's enchanted powers.

After familiarizing Jungkook with mindfulness the night before, it was now time for some real action. The cloudburst outdoors from the day before had relatively altered to a shower now as the morning sky was clearing up a bit, although it was quite misty.

Jungkook was now anxiously biting down on his lower lip while sitting at the edge of the armchair in the foyer, waiting for the man to arrive as his leg bounced uncontrollably. He was nervous yet delighted to learn. But there was something else that made the boy all giddy: it was Taehyung.

The blarney praises that were directed to him yesterday made his ears go pink from embarrassment. Jungkook was never praised for his eyes, let alone acknowledged aside from being called a vile fiend.

The thumping noise on the carpet snatched Jungkook's attention as he looked up to see the man descending the stairs with a valise in one hand; he wore the same clothing as yesterday.

"This will be a fun experience for you. And for me as well," Taehyung chuckled delightedly as he sauntered over to the front gate and pulled it open, beckoning for the boy to follow him.

The trees appeared greener than they did before the downpour, the air scented fresh with a hint of soil in it. But in contrast to all these lovely details, the ground was displaced with large waterholes everywhere.

As far as the eyes could see, there was only one cottage existing and that was Taehyung's, no other cottages near sight.

"It was vicious indeed, the storm," Taehyung commented as he trekked ahead in the direction of the woods and Jungkook followed him close behind, scantily dodging the massive puddles on his way.

"Hyung?" the boy meekly called out.

"Yes, Jungkook?" the man answered seductively, catching the boy off guard.

"Uhmm, where are we going?" Jungkook tried to sound more casual as he glanced around, his face flushed with elation. Taehyung informed that he needed a quiet place with more nature surrounding them so that the boy could practise his powers adequately.

Soon after, they both arrived at their specified location after ambling silently. And to Jungkook's delight, this place was thriving with blossoms and insects of various kinds compared to the part of the grove near his village.

The boy took in his surroundings in awe, "This place is heavenly," he breathed out excitedly as he darted over to look at a blossom from up close while Taehyung only admired him from a distance.

If this tiny interaction makes him this much ecstatic, then I wonder how he'd feel once he gets a hold of his power, Taehyung speculated. "Shall we proceed, then?" he then asked the boy who had now busied himself in rejoicing by gazing at The Purple Emperor which was settled on tree sap, devouring it.

"Oh!" Jungkook exclaimed and surged over to Taehyung with a sheepish expression, "Sorry, I got thrown off for a second. It's beautiful here," he admitted but the man only chuckled, waving his hand dismissively.

"That's alright," Taehyung consoled. "You'd be amazed once you know what extraordinary things you could do if shown you how to," the man told in wonderment.

He then placed his valise on a giant surface root of a tree nearby and unlocked it as he then pulled out a dagger.

The leaves of the trees around them rustled ever so slightly by the low breeze as the whole playfulness from the boy's eyes had left, now replaced with scepticism when his eyes landed on that polished stiletto.

Taehyung suavely held the dagger, the handle of which was carved with gorgeous patterns as he rotated his wrist.

"The basic is quite obvious, you just have to concentrate on channelling your powers but not tersely," he told while looking at Jungkook straight in his eyes, "but with your heart. You have to make it believe that you care about the element in need of help, for it to be healed," he further explained.

"But I do care!" Jungkook defended himself but Taehyung shook his head.

"I have no doubts about that, but still, it may not be enough, as you see. You may be overlooking while at the same time wishing for the dead to jerk back to life... but it requires something more. Something... Let's just say, quite a load of determination and awareness. Which, I assume you didn't compile before," Taehyung asserted casually, which lowered Jungkook's spirits visibly but the man was too focused to see it.

"So let's do it right this time," Taehyung smiled but the boy didn't, instead he simply nodded.

Taehyung beckoned him to come forward and Jungkook did just that. Next, the man told him to close his eyes as he circled around him, "You need to clear your mind of all the thoughts and emotions," he said. "Perceive it, the energy surging inside you... calling to you."

Taehyung ceased his steps as he observed the boy from upfront: the twitch of Jungkook's brows whenever a thought crossed his mind, an innocent face with such flawless skin—it all made the man enthral towards him. He wanted him to be his the first time Taehyung laid his eyes on the boy.

And what could be a better reason to earn the boy's trust if not to help him? Taehyung thought.

"I believe it's time we should skip right to the last phase," the man stated with a knowing smile. Jungkook uncertainly opened his eyes to see the man smiling at him, or rather smirking.

"Huh, last phase? But we haven't had any practice yet," the younger imposed hesitantly but Taehyung suddenly brought one of his hands into Jungkook's line of sight and before the boy could protest, the older slashed his hand open: it was horrendous to look at.

The blood immediately gushed out at an alarming rate, spewing to colour the ground crimson red.

Jungkook gasped loudly, terror in his eyes as he watched the man getting deprived of the crimson gore. "Oh, lord! Why would you do that?" he cried out, gawking at the big gash on the man's palm with amplified eyes as the air surrounding them smelled somewhat metallic.

"Fix it," Taehyung told with a straight face.

Jungkook lifted his gaze to lock his eyes with the man who seemed too calm and collected for a situation so grave, which the boy found incredibly peculiar, to say the least. "What?" he blurted, extremely agitated.

The man motioned with his head, "Fix it, you know exactly what to do," he uttered confidently. The bulb inside Jungkook's head immediately lit up as he comprehended what the man had told him to do.

"I'm sorry but that was very foolish of you! How could you trust me so blindly? What if I..." Jungkook stopped himself, a deep frown on his face, "what if I mishandle? I don't even know how to use my powers yet! You might die at this rate," he mumbled remorsefully as he gently took hold of the man's palm to inspect the damage.

"I have faith in you," Taehyung whispered, "you can do it, just believe in yourself and remember what I had told you."

The boy felt overwhelmed by all of this, never would he have assumed that to get a grip on his silly powers he would have to go through something so bizarre. But Taehyung had faith in him, so he should too.

Jungkook hurriedly guided the man over to a nearby boulder and made him sit on it while the boy crouched down in front of him.

Jungkook huffed loudly, "I can do this, I won't let him down. Just remember what you were taught," he endorsed himself as he mumbled anxiously under his breath while Taehyung gazed at him with admiration.

Jungkook gulped and closed his eyes. The boy held Taehyung's injured hand in his and focused as he channelled his powers and hoped for them to act this time. He wafted his free hand above the laceration while the man looked closely, observing the whole procedure.

Jungkook felt something burning inside his chest, maybe it was his powers? Or maybe it was him being upset over the latter's foolish act. Nevertheless the cause, the boy could feel the burning sensation escalating as it then coursed throughout his frame and finally reached his hands.

Taehyung heaved a soft gasp of astonishment, for he could catch sight of Jungkook's hands glowing. The glow gradually heightened and the man could swear that he —never in his entire life— had seen something so enchanting.

Jungkook's frown deepened as he concentrated. He was determined to prove himself, for he wished for the latter's endorsement because unfortunately, the boy was falling for this man. He tried telling himself that it was all an illusion of his—but it was not. Therefore, Jungkook could only wish for him to return his feelings.

So he had to outdo himself, he needed to.

Seemingly, Taehyung could feel less and less of the hurt as Jungkook kept executing his skill. "Oh my! The pain is reducing," the man uttered in solace but Jungkook silenced him.

"Would you please stop talking!" Jungkook further griped and Taehyung, with slightly widened eyes, sealed his lips shut, for he was dumbfounded by the boy's sudden boldness but found it rather intriguing.

The light shower was gradually ending, providing enough leeway for the sun to cast its warm rays.

The glow gradually faded and Jungkook gently retrieved his hand to showcase his deed. Taehyung grinned victoriously as he examined his perfectly fine palm where there once used to be a big gash; now just resided the remnant of the blood.

"Told you. A push was all you needed," the man chuckled heartily at the boy's accomplishment and Jungkook, despite being fretted broke a smile.

"You were needed," Jungkook blurted out, and the second he realized what he had just said, he stopped breathing, he froze. He believed to be berated and shouted at, for he was a reject and dreaded for the worst. But what occurred next had left him stunned.

"Guess we needed each other, I suppose," Taehyung confessed with a beautiful smile. Jungkook's doe eyes gaped at him with his mouth half hung open, too ecstatic to react.

The man laughed, "You might be the most charming human I've ever met face to face," he adored and got up, "but, you do not tell my sister I told you that. She would have me murdered for the sellout. She's quite frightening when she prefers to be," he joked and eventually, Jungkook flashed a smile.

The boy for the first time felt a disparity in his life after tramping around aimlessly to find his calling, to find the person who understands him.

Taehyung offered his hand, "Shall we?" he winked.

Jungkook was overwhelmed by bliss. The man saw him as a human, for who he was, and not some monster that people believed him to be. Not hesitating, Jungkook clasped the hand offered to him and was hauled up to his feet.

But this time, he did not need to be saved by a storm in the middle of the woods. This time, there awaited a life full of surprises and adventures that the boy was oh so eager to be a part of. He would finally discover what's more to this world than just dreaming about it.

Both the males set out to return home, smiling and laughing as the sun shone warmly above them. They found the missing piece of the puzzle that they never thought they needed so badly.

Happier than ever, Jungkook —with his newfound powers— gently stroked every other blossom on his way that he found needed a tap of life, making each of them glow vibrantly.

This time, he not only found his powers, but also a fortune so greater than that.
