Third POV
Few weeks Later
In Panchal
Kunti was not sure what was really happening. What really was Dhrupad thinking? Since, the moment she heard about this man from Guru Drona she felt that he would be an upright stiff board. Now that she saw him face to face, she felt she was true however he is also a very big reprobate.
She knew that something was cooking in the man's head when rather than putting them in the jail or something, he sent them in rooms. One for the boys and one for Kunti, herself.
Kunti warned her kids to keep their eyes and ears open while they were here. She did not trust any of the people here. Thank God, Nakul and Sehdev were not with them, at least not at the moment.
Kunti stood up straighter when she heard the door of the room open. There were guards placed out of their room, ensuring that no one entered or walked out, then who came here and how?
Kunti felt her eyes widen in shock when she saw who it was, Maharaj Dhrupad it was. What was he doing here? What did he want?
Hey Bhagwan, please ensure that my sons are alright.
And please give me power to stand this man.
"Pranipatra." (Greetings!) King Dhrupad greets.
"Pranipatra." (Greetings!) Kunti replies back.
"Main zyaada samay vyathit nahi kar sakta. Is liye, siddha jo baat hai us paar aate hain." (I cannot waste much time. So, lets come to the main point straight away.) He continues, Kunti frowns a little at the words.
"Lagta hai Hastinapur mein logon ko srif naam ke liye achchai bani padi hai, huh Rani Kunti?" (It seems that in Hastinapur people have only formed good relationship in name, huh Queen Kunti?) King Dhrupad smirks, at the lady.
Kunti looks at the King of Panchal in shock.
How does he know this? What am I supposed to say to that now? Act fool?
"Kya keh rahein hain aap, rajan? Aapko koi galat femi ho gayi hogi." (What are you saying, King? I think you have come to some wrong conclusions.) She tries to act like she doesn't know a thing of what he is saying.
"Hume koi galat femi nahi hai, Rani Kunti." (I don't have any wrong conclusions, Queen Kunti.) Maharaj Dhrupad replies. "Aap agar anjaan ban kar baat talna chahhti hain, toh main aapko yahin rok deta hun. Hume bahuat satik khabar rehti hain chijon ki toh jo bhi khichdi aap bana rahi hai, uski daal yahan galegi nahi." (If you want to stay unknown to the point, I will need to stop you here right now. I have exact information from my sources, so whatever you are cooking will not be cooked fine here.)
Rani Kunti keeps her silence this time, she is unaware as to what all this man knows, keeping her silence was the best option.
"Lagta hai humari baat samajh gayi aap." (It seems that you understood my point.) He smirks. "Main ek kaam ke liye aaya tha." (I have come for a job.)
When he does not continue, she says, "Ji boliye." (Please say.)
"Main chhata hun ki aapke Jyestha bete Yudhishthira se meri pyaari beti Draupadi ki shadi ho." (I wish that your eldest son Yudhishthira is married to my darling daughter Draupadi.) King Dhrupad says.
"Mera Jyestha putr Karn-" (My eldest son Karn-)
"Us Suta Putra ka naam na lein toh achcha hoga. Aise bhi woh jinda nahi hai toh, hume koi matlab nahi hain, usse." (It's best that we don't take name of that Suta Putra. Anyways he isn't alive, so he doesn't concern us anymore.) Dhrupad cuts her off.
Kunti bits her tongue back, so he thinks that Karn, Ananya and Duryodhana are dead? Well, good for them, then. He needs to keep that a secret then.
"Yudhisthira hi kyun?" (Why Yudhishthira only?) Kunti questions.
"Kyunki meri putri ka Maharani ke padd par adhikar hai." (Because my daughter has right to become a queen.) King Dhrupad shrugs.
"Putri par itna ghamand? Putri ke pita ho kar itna ghamand sahi nahi hai, Raja Dhrupad." (So much Pride for your daughter? Being a daughter's father, such a pride is not good for you, King Dhrupad.) Rani Kunti warns the overconfident King in front of her.
"Meri putri jaisi agar aapke pass koi hota na toh abhi bhi ghamand karti." (If you had someone like my daughter, you would also feel the pride.) King Dhrupad replies, un- nerved of her warning.
Rani Kunti ignored the King's jab.
Oh! how desperately did she want to say that she had 8 of them. Far- Far better than King Dhrupad's daughter for sure.
But this was not the time to take such chances, she has to work smartly.
"Aur agar main is vivah se mana kardun toh?" (And what if I say No to this marriage?) Rani Kunti questions.
King Dhrupad smiles at Kunti's words, "Kuch zyaada nahi bass agar yeh baat sabke samne aa gayi ki aap aur aapke tin putra zinda hain, toh aap janti hain kya hoga, Mujhe batana toh nahi padega na?" (Nothing much just that everyone will learn the fact that only you & three of your sons are alive, so you know what will happen, right? I don't think I need to tell you that.)
"Aap mujhe Dhamki dena chahhte hain?" (Are you trying to threaten me?)
"Nahi, nahi main kuch bhi chah nahi raha hun. Main dhamki de raha hun." (No No, I am not trying at all. I am threatening you.) He smirks.
Kunti frowns, how could someone be so vile?
He is threatening to get the marriage done why?
"Soch rahin hain aap ki kya hoga jab Hastinapur mein logon ko yeh pata chale ki aapne aapne Jyestha putr, bahu aur Raj Kumar Duryodhana ki jaan leli kyunki aap Yudhisthira ko Raja bana chahhti hain?" (Are you even thinking what will happen when in Hastinapur people will learn that maybe you killed your eldest son, daughter- in- law and Duryodhana to crown your son Yudhishthira as the King of Hastinapur?) Dhrupad asks, as if worried for Kunti, worried as to how people would react to it.
"Parantu yeh satya nahi hai." (But that isn't true.) Kunti frowns in distress, she couldn't believe the man.
"Par yeh toh koi nahi jaanta na?" (But no one else knows this, na?) He smiles darkly. "Log toh wahi jaanege jo hum unhe bataenge. Aur us par jab unhe woh Raj Kumar aur bahu nahi dikhengi toh kya kariye ga aap? Kya koi aur raasta hai aapke pass, huh?" (People will only know the things we tell them. And over that if they cannot find their desired Prince and wife, what will you do then? Do you even have any other way, huh?)
Kunti looks away from the man.
He is saying was partially true if King Dhritarashtra was to learn of this, he wouldn't listen to them, before taking a harsh step. They aren't in contact with the three to call them home as soon as needed. It would take them time to find them before delivering the message to the trio.
"Ek prahar ka samay hai aapke pass, Rani Kunti ya toh vivaah ko haan keh dijiye warna aapki yeh raaz sabke samne la kar rakh dunga main." (You have the time of four hours, Queen Kunti, either you agree to this marriage or this 'truth' of yours will out to everyone around.) He comments before walking out.
Kunti falls back on the bed in shock. Her strong demure shaking now that no one was there to watch her.
What was she supposed to do now?
Bhanumati POV
A few days later
In Kalinga
It had been few days since my marriage with Suyo Arya. And I have been settling in well. Bhabhi Ma is really a blessing, no need of a disguise. She is so sweet, always ready to help and understand us.
She made sure to leave me with Suyo Arya alone at times. Even though yes, that meant her spending time with Jyestha indirectly, but at least she is trying to give us some privacy?
And I think that is what really matters in such a condition.
Right now, also both of us are walking through the forest to get the rice as she asked from the market. I was not really required to go yet she pushed us out of the hut together and warned us to not come back until we have rice we brought together. She cares so much.
I was so lost in my own thoughts that I didn't even realize that Suyo Arya had stayed behind while I walked ahead. Where did he go?
I look around the forest unable to sight him between the thick branches of the forest.
Suddenly he pops out of nowhere in front of me, making me blink in surprise.
I look at him curiously not saying anything as he stands in front of me with his hands behind his back, almost like hiding something, huh?
"Apni ankhein band karo, na." (Close your eyes please.) He says.
"Kyun?" (Why?)
"Ab keh raha hun toh sunlo." (If I am saying, listen na!) He almost whines.
Bhanumati looks at him curious before shutting her eyes as instructed, "Ab?" (Now?)
"Haath aage karo." (Put your hands forward.)
Again, Bhanumati follows.
And a moment later feels something soft graze her palm. Huh, what is he doing?
"Ab ankhein khol sakti ho." (You can open your eyes.) He says.
And I do so.
Gasping in surprise as well as delight as I see what he placed in my hands. The flower of Jasmines. They are so pretty!
I look at him, with a wide smile. "Dhanyavad, mujhe bahut pasand aaye." (Thank you, I like them a lot.)
He scratches behind his neck. "Yeh mujhe tumhari yaad dilatein hain hai." (They reminded me of you, when I saw it.)
I blush at his words. I knew he was sweet but he could be so smopth too, I was unaware of this.
I smile looking away, his eyes are making it difficult for me to breath correctly.
"Chalein?" (Shall we move?) I question rather, still blushing hard.
"Awashya." (Sure.) He nods pulling my hand in his own before he starts to walk as if it was nothing different than before.
********
Umm hi! 🫣 🫣
I don't think I can apologize enough for leaving this hanging for so long.
But still sorry. 🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️
I honestly updated today after getting scolded by one of my readers who I accidently met in real life. (We are in same college).
So give your thanks to that person. (They wish to stay anonymous.)
Further updates?
I seriously have no clue, I will try my level best to be regular but college isn't easy when you are a medical student.
If I will be updating it will be most probably two or three updates a week no more for sure but still I give you no guarantee, I think I have broken the reader - writer trust enough.
Anyways, tell me your thoughts about this updates.
Was it at par?
I miss interacting with you guys 🥹🥹
