Karn POV
Ma and Mata along with some other ladies drag Ananya away, while I am left there with six monsters, sorry brothers. Ok, not six, five will do.
Whatever the number is, Good Lord save me!
"Shaadi ki badhainyan, Jyeshta Bhrata" (Congratulations for you wedding, elder brother) Duryodhana says and the rest also sing after him.
"Kya Mitra, shaadi Karli aur Mujhe bulaya tak nahi?" (What friend, you got married and didn't even call me?) a voice calls from the gate. Ashwatthama.
Oh no! one more monster. This is what I needed.
"Mujhe aapni shaadi ka toh pata hi nahi tha, tujhe Kya batata?" (I myself was unaware of this, what would I tell you about?) I ask him annoyed.
"Bhrata hum jante Hain ki aapki shaadi hui hai aaj, par abhi ek ghanta hai, Bhabhi shree ke saath raat bitane Mein." (Brother, we know that you have got married today, but there still is an hour before you can spend the night with sister- in- law.) Nakul teases me and I give him a deadpan look.
"Mere Mitra ko aise tang maat kar." (Don't harass my friend like that.) Ashwatthama ruffled Nakul's hair.
Ok maybe, he is not so bad.
"Are!" Nakul protest as his hair is ruffled.
"Toh Mitra, yeh sab itne jaldi? Hume bataya tak nahi?" (So, friend all this was so fast? You didn't even tell us?) He smirks as he sits beside me.
I said it a little early.
"Kyun pade Ho meri jaan ke piche?" (Why are you guys after my life?) I grumble. They giggle, like literally, giggle.
"Par fir bhi yeh galat baat hai na, ki tumne hame nahi bulaya." (But then also, isn't it wrong that you didn't call me.)
"Aur tum aaye toh wahan chalegaye." (And when you came, you went there.)
"Ab usne bola usse ek bhai ki zarrorat hai toh mai mana thodi karta." (Now, she said she wanted a brother, who am I to say no to her?) He shrugs.
"Jo bhi" (Whatever?) I wave him off.
"kapde sahi haina." (The clothes are sweet, right?) Sehdev comments, after few minutes. He is trying to change the topic.
"Thoda aisa lagta hai jaise kisine bandh kar rakha hai, par sahi hai." (It feels like somebody has enclosed us, but it's nice.) Arjun agrees.
"Kahan bandh sa lagta hai, itna toh khula hai, is se zyada hota toh achcha nahi hota." (When does it looked closed, it's so open, if it had been freer then it won't look good) Nakul shakes his head.
"Tujhe itna kaise pata iske bare Mein?" (How do you know so much about them?)
"Woh Chodo hume bhi pata hai, aapko yeh achcha Kyun lag Rahe hai aapko, akhir Raj Kumari Subhadra se rang jo mil raha tha inke kapde ka." (Leave that we also know why you like this so much. After all your cloth colour matches with Princess Subhadra.) He shrugs.
"Subhadra?" I raise an eyebrow.
"Aap toh bolo hi mat, puri der Bhabhi shree ko hi dekh Rahe the." (You can't say anything, all the time you were staring at Bhabhi shree.)
"Shaadi unse Ho rahi hai, toh aur kise dekhenge?" (I am getting married to her, who will I look at?) I ask
"Matlab aapko unse shaadi karni thi." (Meaning, you really wanted to marry her?) Duryodhana looks smug.
"Nahi karni hoti, toh yahan hota?" (If I didn't want to, would I have been here?) I question.
"Baat toh sahi hai." (You are right.) Nakul agrees.
"Are, yeh Bheema Kahan Gaya?" (Are, where is this Bheema?) I ask, looking around.
We share a look and all of us utter same word. "Khanna" (Food)
"Mujhe bhi bhokh lagi hai." (I am also hungry.) I tell to nobody in particular.
"Kya khaoge, Putra?" (What will you have son?) Pitamah asks.
"Pranipatra Pitamah." (Greetings Pitamah) We greet.
Ananya POV
I was dragged away by mother- in- laws and some other ladies. Oh no!
"Shaadi ki badhaiyan." (Congratulations on the wedding.) One of the lady says, I simply smile at her.
"Jyada bolti nahi hai aapki bahu, Rani Kunti." (Your daughter- in- law doesn't speak much, Queen Kunti.) The same lady says.
If I will say something, you will stop talking for your life. I think.
Ma smiles, "Meri Putri sahi Samey pe bolti hai, Rani Ratana." (My daughter talks at the right time, Queen Ratana.)
Show it to her, Ma. I smirk, nobody messes with Rani Kunti and her daughter.
Who is this Rani Ratana anyways?
"Awashya" (Sure.) she smiles. I want to puke.
"Didi" (Elder sister.) my two chipmunks screech and drag me in a room. It's decorated.
Oh! My room for night. It's beautiful.
"Achcha hai na, Di?" (It's nice, right di?) Subhadra asks with a coy smile. I narrow my eyes at her.
"Kya chal raha hai?" (What is happening?) It's my other mother- in- law, Mata.
"Pranam Mata." (Bless me, mother) I bend down touching her feet.
"Akhand Saubhagyavati Bhava, Putri" (May you always have a happy married life.) she blesses me.
"Main toh tums ek hi bar mili thi par, Mujhe pata hai ki mujhe tumse achchi ladki nahi milti Mujhe kahin." (I have met you once before and I know I couldn't have found a better girl than you.) She cups my face in her hands. I blush and look down.
"Kaha hi tha Maine, Radha Behena." (I had already told you, sister Radha.) Ma says, in her hands is a plate, covered with a cloth.
"Yeh Kya hai, ma?" (What is this, ma?) I ask.
"Tumhara Khanna." (Your food.)
"Sahi Mein?" (Really?) I ask, running to her. She places it on the table and I try to eat it but the lengha, and everything was making it bloody impossible.
"Aao main khilaon." (Come, here I will feed you.) Ma walks up to me and feeds me, laughing at my eagerness.
"Dhanyavad ma." (Thank you, ma.) I smile at her.
She carcasses my head. "Ma ko koi Dhanyavad bolta hai?" (Does somebody thank their mom?)
"Nahi bolungi." (I won't say) I promise, kissing her hand. She smiles at me.
"Chalo ab taiyar Ho jao." (Come now get ready.) Mata says.
"Taiyar?" (Ready?) I ask.
"Shaadi ke phele raat ke liye." (For the first night after wedding.) Ma says in a teasing smile and I blush a little.
"Taiyar toh Di, kafi der se hai." (She has been ready since a long time.) Subhadra teases me. "Aaj pure der Jija ji se Nasar nahi hat rahi hai." (Today, all the day she couldn't look at anybody else other than brother- in- law.)
"Jaise teri Arjun se nahi hat rahi thi?" (Just like you could not look away from Arjun.) I ask
"Arjun?" Ma asks
"Nahi Bua, di kuch bhi bol rahin hai." (No aunt, elder sister, is just talking nonsense.) Subhadra tries to save herself. All of us laugh.
"Aao, idhar baitho." (Come, sit here.) Ma takes me towards the bed that has been specially arranged for the night.
