Duryodhana POV
Jyeshta looked like shit. He was completely disheveled. And I noted it at the first look I got of him.
His eyes were unfocused. He remained too much in his brain. Laughed falsely and was smiling like nothing was good.
He was in pain. I knew it, but I couldn't do anything about it.
Why? Well two reasons, one he didn't say anything so I wasn't sure if my points were corrects or not. And second because I didn't know if I will bring him out of his misery or drown him more in it.
He is smart. Knows things, and analyses them. You rarely find anything wrong in whatever he does. So, I knew that maybe he knew what caused his such state. But it felt unbelievable so he didn't share.
Since, the day I have been friends with him, I never knew I would ever see him like this. I wonder how Ananya di is?
Mother made me do that, whenever I refer to her as something else a whack follows, on head or back or wherever the hand find's place.
"Bharata Duryodhana." (Brother Duryodhana) A voice calls.
"Haan Sehdev." (Yes Sehdev?)
"Kahan kho Gaye Ho, aaj?" (Where are you lost today?)
"Kahin nahi. Bas..." (Nowhere, just) I look over at Jyeshta sighing. He follows my eyesight and nods in understanding.
We are sitting in the throne room, today is the big day, it's been four days since Jyeshta has been here. Thy are revealing about Karn being our eldest brother and a Kaunteya.
I wonder how it fares?
"Maha Mahim, ek ghoshna karne ja rahien Hain." (Maha Mahim is going to declare something.) Maha Mantri Vidor announces.
The whispers instantly started like a fire in the throne. Geez! these people.
"Dhanyavad Maha Mantri." (Thank you Maha Mantri.) Pitamah Thanks Tata shree.
"Kuch din pehele hi, humare Parivar ke bare Mein kuch batien pata chali Hain, jo abhi tak chupi hui thi. Humare pichle Swarg wasi Maharaj Pandu ki Patni ko ek aur Putra tha." (Some days ago, I have learnt about somethings of my family, which had been hidden till now. Our previous, heaven residing King Pandu's wife had another son.)
He stops for a minute. I look around the throne room, people are looking at Maha Mahim intrigued, as to what he is talking about.
Some are whispering among themselves, while the others are looking around, trying to figure out who that guy is.
"Woh Putra, sabse bade Hain. Yani ki Kuru Parivar ke Jyeshta Putra." (He is the eldest. Which means that he is the eldest kid of Kuru family.) Maha Mahim continues. "Woh Putra Karn hai, Radheya Karn hi Humare Parivar ke Jyeshta Putra Hain." (That son is Karn, Radheya karn is the eldest son of this family.)
He sounds so dramatic!
I look around the room, people are gawking openly at Jyeshta. Who is sitting them calmly as if people aren't discussing about him or his parentage or heritage, anything. He was sitting there, to calmly.
Sehdev elbowed me.
I raised an eyebrow at him and he motioned for me to look at a direction.
I followed his line of sight and all most burst out laughing, it was too comical.
Mama shree Shakuni's mouth had fallen open. He looked completely like a fish. Huffing and puffing for water. Plus, his eyes are nearly rolling out of the sockets. Too hilarious! I swear he won't be able to say anything right now! Nothing. Hell! I am liking thus too much.
Oh My! I stifle my laughter and realize that the Pandeva's are doing them same, except Yudhishthira, of course.
"Maha Mahim, Dhanyavad." (Thank you Maha Mahim.) Maharaj/ Pita shree begins. "Hume aaj yahan baithe bahut garva Ho raha hai, yeh kehene Mein ki Karn Kuru Parivar ke sabse bade Raj- Kumar Hain. Hume unhe Raj -Bhavan Mein swagat kartien Hain, adhikarik taur par." (Today, I am feeling very proud sitting here, and saying that Karn is the eldest Prince of Kuru family. I welcome him in the royal court, officially.)
"Dhanyavad Maharaj." (Thank you, your majesty.) Jyeshta Bhrata says.
I rise from my seat and head to Jyeshta; all the eyes follow me. I look at my Mama shree, smirking, I have had enough of your shit. My smirk said and I pulled Jyeshta in a hug.
"Humare Parivar Mein swagat hai." (Welcome to our family.) I say loudly, while I whisper in his ears, "Mama shree ko dekhna." (Look at my uncle.)
He follows my request and bites his lip to stop the laugh, that threatens to tumble out of his mouth.
Mama shree has his one eye closed and a total stunned expression on his face.
Oh! How I wish, I had the phone thing!
We had pulled away to be pulled in a hug again by Bheema as the Pandeva's hug their eldest brother too. It felt calming, but I realized there was something missing.
Ah! Yes. Ananya di.
--- Time Skip ---
It has been few days from the revelation.
I have tried to escape Mama shree at every event, even pulling Bheema in, if it meant escaping Mama shree. I won't lie when I say, we have started to build a certain amount of trust, amongst ourselves.
Jyeshta has gone worse, than before. He fake's the laugh too. Even the brothers are suspecting something is wrong.
The other day we went to Kaki Kunti but she just waved it off. Saying we were worrying without any point and her son was wonderful.
I don't get it; don't mothers have this sixth sense when it comes to their kids?
"Mere Bacchae." (My son!) A voice calls. He still calls me that?
Shit! There is nobody around.
"Haan, Mama Shree?" (Yes, uncle dear?) I ask trying to keep the spite away. Wasn't very easy, let me tell you.
"Yeh Kya Kiya tune, us din?" (What did you do, that day?) He spits.
"Yeh koi tarika tha puri sabha-" (Was that a way, in the whole court-)
I cut him off, I can't hear his garbage. "Woh mere Jyeshta Bhrata Hain, mama shree. Mujhe un par ankh mund kar vishwas hai. Jo Maine Kiya, Mujhe karna tha." (He is my elder brother, uncle dear. I believe on him with blind eyes. Whatever I did was because I wanted to.)
"Mere Bacchae, tumhe singhasan nahi chahhiye Kya?" (My son, don't you want the throne?)
"Nahi Mama shree, woh Jyeshta Bhrata ka hakh hai, Mera us par koi hak nahi hai." (No, uncle dear, it's my elder brothers right, I don't have any right on it.) I tell him truthfully. Maybe he will stop pestering me around.
"Mere Bacchae" (My son.) he says in a voice that showed disbelief and disappointment.
But before he could continue further, a solider walked by. "Raj Kumar Duryodhana, Rani Kunti ne aapko bulaya hai." (Prince Duryodhana, Queen Kunti has called for you.) He bowed and walked away.
"Mama shree, hum kabhi aur baat karenge." (Uncle, we will talk some time else.) I tell him. And sprint away, before he could say anything.
I could kiss my Kaki right now, I love her. Figuratively! Geez, you guys!
"Aap ne bulaya, Kaki?" (You called, Kaki?) I ask, once I enter her chambers. All my cousins are there except Jyeshta.
"Haan Putra. Woh Dwarka se Sandesh aaya hai." (Yes son. There is a letter from Dwarka.) All the brothers looked surprised too. Seems like they didn't knew.
"Kya likha hai?" (What does it say?) Nakul asks excited.
"Ananya Putri ki Vivaah Ho rahi hai." (Ananya daughter is getting married.) She says smiling, happily.
What? What about Jyeshta. I have devised this much that he is in love with her but didn't know how to approach him.
"Yeh toh bahut hi achchi khabar hai, Mata." (This is a nice news, mother.) Yudhishthira smiles.
Oh My!
Oh God!
Oh No!
Oh Hell!
"Kab hai shaadi, Mata?" (When is the wedding?) Sehdev asks.
"Parson." (Day after tomorrow.) Kaki answers.
"KYA?" (What?) Three voices scream. Me, Arjun and Nakul.
"Haan, fir Tarik nahi tha. Kyun?" (Yes, there was no other date. Why?)
"Nahi, Mata. Bas achchnak tha." (Nothing mother, it was all sudden.) Arjun says and we nod.
I need to do something. Let's talk to these brothers, I decide.
I turn to them, once Kaki goes to talk to Jyeshta.
*********
I realized we never did this reaction thing- y.
Duryodhana has kicked Mama Shree away. Yay!
What do you think now? What are the brothers planning?
Will they be able to get their Jyeshta married to their friend?
