Karn POV
"Aise hi aate rehna, Putri." (Come like this only, daughter) Mata requests Ananya.
"Koshish toh rahegi, Kaki." (I will try, aunt.) Ananya relents. "Par main toh bandhi hui huna, Kaki." (But I am tied, aunt.)
"Are Putra, Tum ise lekar anna." (Aye son, you must bring her) Mother orders me, in a stern voice.
Who will fight her? Indirectly dis- respect her?
I nod in agreement, "Jab mouka milega." (Whenever I will get time.)
Bidding mother good bye, we start for our return journey to the palace. This time she leans, on to me as we settle down. Her head is against my shoulder.
"Kya Hua?" (What happened?) I question.
"Main thak gayi hun." (I am tired.) She mumbles.
"Kshama karo, main tumhe yahan le aaya." (Pardon me, I bought you here.) I ask for her forgiveness.
"Aye! Aapne Kaki se milne se kaise rok saktein hai aap?" (Aye! You think you can stop me from meeting my aunt?) she scolds me, pulling away from my shoulder.
I raise my hand partially, showing my defeat. She giggles, looking back ahead.
It takes us some time to reach the Mahal, and when we do, the sun has set. We leave the horse with the care taker and walk towards Kaki Gandhari's chambers. Ma and Kaki must be there only.
"Aagaye mere bachche wapas?" (My kids have returned?) Ma asks, once we enter the room.
"Ji Bua." (Yes, aunt.) Ananya answers, as she sits on the bed leaning against the head board.
"Kya Hua, Putri?" (What happened, daughter?) Kaki Gandhari asks.
"Kya kahun Bua, Kaki Radha ne kuch zyada hi khila diya." (What should I say aunt, aunt Radha fed me too much.) Ananya moans.
"Hey Surya dev! Aur yeh ladki Hume Zyada Khanna ka bata kartin hai." (Hey Surya Dev! And this girl questions my eating habits?) I say appalled.
"Roz, nahi kahti hun na itna." (I don't have so much food, every day, right?) She fights back.
"Roz ya kabhi- kabhi, Kya farak padta hai?" (Every day or sometimes, how does it matters.) I ask.
"Mera pet, meri marzi." (My stomach, my wish.) She sasses.
"Toh Mujhe kyun bolti ho?" (Then why do you pin on me?) I question.
"Mera pet nahi hai na." (It's not my stomach, right?) she shrugs.
"Chod do mere bachche ko, kyun tang kar rahe ho aise?" (Leave my child alone, why are you disturbing him?) Kaki Gandhari saves me.
"Haw Bua! Aap inka saath dengi?" (Haw! Aunt! You are going to side with him?) Ananya says acting.
"MerI Kaki hai, Ananya, mere saath hi rahegi na?" (She is my aunt, Ananya, she will be with me, of course.) I smirk at her.
"Itna vishwas srif Kaki par?" (So much belief only on your aunt?) Ananya questions.
"Kya kehna chati ho?" (What do you want to say?) I ask.
"Yahih ki ma se zyada Vishwas kaki par?" (Just that you have more belief on your aunt rather than your mom?) She raises an eyebrow, smirking.
"Are! Aise dharma sankat Mein Kyun dal rahi hai mere Putra ko, Putri?" (Are! Why are you putting my son in such a dharma fight, Putri?) Ma asks.
"Kya yaar Bua, thodi der maze toh lene deti." (What aunt, you should have let me enjoy for some time.) Ananya pouts.
"Mera Mazak banaya ja raha hai?" (You are making fun of me?) I ask, infuriated.
"Aww, aapko pata bhi nahi chala." (Aww, you didn't even realize it.) She coos.
"Main nahi baat kar raha." (I am not talking) I snap at her, "Kal milunga Ma, Kaki." (I will meet you tomorrow Mom, aunt) I say and walk out of the room.
Why did I do that? Fairly Simple, you know, I don't know.
I head towards the garden, to that one part where the most less guards are. I want to find my peace myself. Though, I don't exactly know how or why?
I felt a presence behind me suddenly, without turning I knew it was her.

"Achchha ji main haari, chalo maan jaao na" She starts to sing.
"Dekhi sab ki yaari, mera dil jalaao na" I sing softly, I don't know where that came from, but it just did in my mind. It was as if somebody just put it in there.
"Chhote se kusur pe aise ho khafa" She sings further.
"Ruthhe to huzur the, meri kya khata" It just felt appropriate.
"Dekho dil na todo" She catches my hand.
"Chhodo, haath chhodo"
"Chhod diya to haath maloge, samajhe?" she leaves my hand.
"Aji samajhe"
"Jiwan ke ye raaste lambe hain sanam"
"Kaatenge ye zindagi, thhokar kha ke ham"
"Jaalim saath le le" She pleads.
"Achchhe ham akele" I snap.
"Chaar kadam bhi chal na sakoge, samajhe?"
"Haan samajhe" I say sarcastically.
"Achchha ji main haari, chalo maan jaao na." she sings, again.
But I don't sing this time. As I settle down on a seat nearby.
"Are yaar, aise Kya khafa hogaye?" (Hey man! Why so sad of me?) She asks as she sits beside me, wait she sits on the bars of the back of the chair.
"Meri zindagi, meri marzi" (my life, my wish) I quote her.
"Kshama yaar" (Sorry man.) she tries again but I ignore her.
"Theek hai, toh fir main Ramayana akele hi dekg letin hun." (Ok fine, I will watch Ramayana alone only.) She shrugs.
My head snaps to her, "Kya?" (What?)
"Chalein dekhne?" (Should we go?) she asks. And I realize what she did but I am enjoying Ramayana too much to miss it.
I nod, mutely.
"Aye! Yaar man jao na." (Aye Man! Please understand na.) She pouts. Making a cute expression. And I feel myself literally melt.
"Chalo maaf Kiya tumhe." (Ok, I forgive you.) I relent.
"Yay!" she celebrates, hugging me, as we enter her room. I simply laugh at her antics, but i do wrap my hands around her.
"Hum antim bar kahan the?" (Where were we the last time?) I ask.
"Maharaj Dashrath ne yeh faisala Kiya tha ki woh, Shri Ram ko Ayodhya ka Raj- singhasan denge." (King Dashrath was giving his throne of Ayodhya to Shri Ram.) She answers setting the laptop up.
"Haan. Haan" (Yes. Yes.) I remembered.
"Are yaar" (Oh Man!) she groans.
"Kya Hua?" (What happened?)
"Ab woh Mantra bitch ke tarah karegi." (Now that Mantra will bitch around.)
"Bitch?" I ask.
She freezes. "Uh..." she trails off.
"Kya matlab hota hai bitch ka?" (What does bitch mean?) I ask, intrigued.
"Mujhe woh shabd nahi prayog karna chahhiye tha." (I should not have used that word.) She pinches her lips.
"Ab toh kar diya, matlab bhi batado." (Now you did, what does it mean?) I say.
"Woh... um...." I have to say, I have never seen her like this.
"Bol do itna bura ho sakta hai Kya?" (Say it, it can't be that bad, huh?) I ask.
"Sahi bola jaye toh haan." (Truly, yes.) She nods. "Umm... uska matlab Kutiya hota hai." (Umm... it means female dog.) She bites her lips and my eyes widen.
"Mujhe pata nahi tha, tum aise bhasha ka prayog karti ho." (I didn't know you use such language.) I blink. She smiles sheepishly.
