Karn POV

That time I made my decision, I will talk to my mother Radha and accept Kunti ma. I will accept whatever destiny has in store for me. I rush back home, racing past everything and everyone. Leaving my birth mother with Ananya, knowing she will look after her.

"Mata" (Mother) I call when I reached there

"Karn?" She calls confirming.

"Haan Mata." (Yes Mother) I smile at the lady in front of me, my adopted mother.

"Hay mera bachcha." (Oh! My Child) She says as she pulls me in a hug.
She sits down and I do to, beside her.

"Mata, aap se kuch puchna tha." (Mother, I had to ask you something.) I say hesitantly.

"Haan, putra, Pucho." (Yes, son. Ask.) She encourages me.

"Main aapka putra hun?" (I am your son, right?) I ask.

She tears up a little, but then smiles. "Haan tum mere putra ho, par Maine tumhe Janam nahi Diya." (Yes, you are my son, but I didn't give birth to you.)
She takes a breath and continues, "Tum aapne pita ko Ganga ke paniyon Mein behte ek tokri Mein mile the." (You were found by your father in the water of Ganga, you were in a basket.)

Just like Rani Kunti said. I mean, I didn't doubt her but then also. I would also like thank Ganga Devi, for taking me to so lovable parents. Its her grace too.

"Mujhe... Rani Kunti ne bataya ki Mein unka Putra Hun." (I was told by Rani Kunti that I am her son.) I say slowly.
So, that she can take it in. Not every day, do you tell your adopted mother about your birth mother do you?

She gasps in surprise and looks at me wide eyed. "Tum... tum.... Kaunteya ho?" (You are a Kaunteya?)
(A/N Kaunteya= son of Kunti)

I nod in answer. She smiles and nods in understanding. Her eyes shinning.

"Mata main Kya karun? Main aap dono ko bhi nahi chodna chata." (Mother, what should I do? I don't want to leave you both.) I spill my beans to her.

"Aye! Is mein Kya sochna hai? Tere pas do mata hogi. Jaise Vasudev Krishna ki Hain." (Aye! What is there to thing? You will have two mothers. Just like Vasudev Krishna.) She tells me, more like scolds me to accept it.

"Aap ko koi aapati nahi?" (You don't mind?) I question, dubious.

"Nahi, tujhe mere pyaar mile. Mujhe tere. Bas aur Kya." (I just need your love and you will need. What else?) she asks.
I hug her, close. My heart already vowing somethings.

"Mujhe log Radheya ke naam se bhi janenge mata, yaad rakhiye ga." (You remember this mother; people will know me as Radheya too.) I promise her.
"Mujhe pe aapka haak utna hi hai, jitna ma Kunti ka." (You have as much as right on me, as mom Kunti does.) I declare, as if telling the whole world.

"Tere jaise bache sab ko mile." (May everyone get a son like you) She blesses me.
"Aur ab ja, so ja. Kal jaldi Rani Kunti se mil liyo ja ke. Woh taras rahi hogi aapne sabse bade putra ke liye." (Now go, sleep. Tomorrow, go as early as possible to meet Queen Kunti. She must be yearning for her eldest son.)

The Next Morning.

The next day excited, I rushed to the Palace, I had a smile on my face I could not put away.
I found Ananya in her room. There are high chances that, mom will be here.
She was getting ready to pray. I saw her Diya was about to be blown off. So, I rushed in and placed my hand on its side, preventing it from dying off.

Seeing me, Ananya's face broke in a grin, a wide one. She was looking heavenly in her gold threaded Patiala on her black cloth. See, again black.  (A/N Pic below ↡)

"Yeh Dek-" (Look at th-) Ma cuts herself off seeing me here, most probably.

"Kya Hua Bua?" (What happened, Aunt?) she asks, her voice shows a certain excitement.

"Tum Kya kar Rahe ho?" (What are you doing?) Ma asks her eyes narrowing.

What? Did we do something wrong? Something we weren't suppose to?

"Yeh Diya jala rahi thi." (Lighting this Diya) Ananya answers.

Ma smiles, a little sadly, I think.

Suddenly, she elbows me and motions towards ma, who is sitting there sewing. I gave her a nervous look and get a deadpanned one in return, sighing I get up.
Slowly I walk up to ma and sit cross leg near her feet, observing her tie the flower together. Ma looks at me surprised.

"Ma?" (Mom?) I ask.

Silent tears fall from her eyes, as she smiles widely at me. I wipe away her tears and run the wet hand on my forehead and over my hair. Taking it as a blessing.

She bends forward and kisses my head. I take her blessing, this time by touching her feet and a wide smile blooms on her face.

"Ayushman bhava." (Live long.) She blesses me, saying softly.

She hands me the beautiful garland she tied together. I look at her questioningly.
She motions towards the idol.

"Unke gale Mein dal do. Nayi shurvat hai na." (Put it around his neck, it's a new begging, right?)

I do as per the order, you don't dis- respect your mother's orders.

Ananya's eyes are closed and a small smile is playing on her lips, it's as if she is having a conversation with someone.

Once she opens her eyes, Ma perks up.
"Aaj kuch gaogi nahi?" (Won't you sing anything?) Ma asks.

Please say yes. I want to hear your pretty little voice, it's like a breath to me. Very important. A simple song in her voice makes my day.

After, sometime she starts singing. Yay!

Thumak Chalat Raamachandra (2)
Baajat Painjaniyaan

I have heard this song. But of course, not sung so nicely.

Kilaki Kilaki Uthat Dhaay Girat Bhuumi Latapataay
Dhaay Maat God Let Dasharath Kii Raniyaan
Thumak Chalat Raamachandra (2)
Baajat Painjaniyaan

This song is giving me goosebumps. Oh My God, how does she have such a nice voice?

Aanchal Raj Ang Jhaari Vividh Bhaanti So Dulaari
Tan Man Dhan Vaari Vaari Kahat Mridu Bachaniyaan
Thumak Chalat Raamachandra (2)
Baajat Painjaniyaan

This is so soothing. Her voice seeps into your soul, body and mind filling you to the brim.

Vidrum Se Arun Adhar Bolat Mukh Madhur Madhur
Subhag Naasikaa Men Chaaru Latakat Latakaniyaan
Thumak Chalat Raamachandra (2)
Baajat Painjaniyaan

Oh, how I love her voice. She is practically Lady Sarasvati for me.

Tulasiidaas Ati Anand Dekh Ke Mukhaaravind
Raghuvar Chhabi Ke Samaan Raghuvar Chhabi Baniyaan
Thumak Chalat Raamachandra (2)
Baajat Painjaniyaan

Nahi aur gao na. (No sing a little more, na.) I just want to hear her and nothing more. She sings and it feels like nothing else matters in this world.

"Tumhari avaj kitni achchi hai." (You have such a nice voice) Ma praises.
"Haina Karn?" (Am I right Karn?)

"Haan." (Yes) I agree a small smile playing on my lips, I can't keep it away.
She smiles at us too.

"Main mandir se ayai. Tum aarti lo yahan ki, Putra." (I will be back. Take the aarti, son) Ma orders me before leaving us alone.

I took the aarti when, from the corner of my eye I saw her dupatta get stuck she pulled it, due to the power she stumbled back right in to me.
I instinctively wrap my hands around her torso to prevent her from falling. She gasps and realizing our position, I reluctantly leave her.

"Kshama" (Pardon me.) she mumbles before taking a step ahead.

(A/N ignore the chooda, she isn't married................................. yet.)
