Duryodhana POV
"Hum kya Karein?" (What should we do?) I question. "Mereko bahut chinta ho rahi hai." (I am very worried.)
"Kuch nahi hoga Duryo. Tu bekar mein hi chinta karta hai." (Nothing will happen, Duryo. You are worrying without any point.) Ashwatthama sighs.
"Tu bhi toh mere Mama Shree ko jaanta hai. Lagta hai woh kuch nahi karenge?" (You also know my uncle; do you think he will stay silent.)
"Idhaar aa." (Come here) Ashwatthama gets up and grabs my hand. He drags me out.
"Kahan ja rahein hai hum?" (Where are we going?) I ask him. He doesn't reply. Uff!
"Mere Bacchae" (My child) Mama shree calls. Oh Hell!
"Mama, Hume abhi jaldi hai. Hum baad Mein bat kartein hai." (Uncle, we are hurry right now. We will talk later.) Ashwatthama tells him and walks past him, dragging me. I stay silent, acting like I couldn't speak before he dragged me away.
"Hum abhyas kaksh ke taraf Kyun ja rahein hai?" (Why are we going towards the practice room?) I ask again but Ashwatthama keeps his silence.
Once, we enter the room I realize the Ashwini twins are practicing there. I turn to stare at my friend, Ashwatthama. he squeezes my hand before clearing his throat.
"Ashwatthama, Bhrata Duryodhana. Pranipatra" (Ashwatthama, brother Duryodhana, Greetings.) Nakul greets.
"Pranipatra Nakul. Sehdev" (Greetings, Nakul, Sehdev.) Ashwatthama greets back.
I simply nod.
"Pranipatra Bhrata Duryodhana, Ashwatthama." (Greetings, Brother Duryodhana and Ashwatthama.) Sehdev greets.
"Koi dikat thi?" (Is there a problem?) Nakul asks.
"Haan. Par aapko Vada Karna hoga, ki aap is ke baarien Mein, aap dono kisi se nahi kahenge." (Yes. But you both need to promise that you both won't tell about this to anybody.) Ashwatthama asks for their promise.
"Aisi Kya baat hai?" (What talk is this?) Nakul asks. He looks a little uncertain.
"Bat toh Gambhir hai." (The thing is serious) Ashwatthama says.
"Hum aap par vishwas kar rahein hai, Ashwatthama, agar kuch gadbad Hua, toh hum sabse pehle ja kar Pitamah se yeh bat keh denge." (We are believing you, Ashwatthama, if something bad happens, the first thing we are going to do is tell Pitamah.) Sehdev answers.
"Dhanyavad" (Thank you.) Ashwatthama says. "Aaiye yahan baith, jayene aur fir bat karein." (Come, lets' sit here and talk.)
He directs them to the seat and we all take the seat.
"Duryodhana, aapko batayega iske bare Mein." (Duryodhana, is going to tell you about this.) Ashwatthama says. The twins turn to look at me.
"Woh aap mama shree ko jaante Hain na? Woh is bat se bahut gussa Hain ki Ananya ne unhe apmanit Kiya hai." (You know uncle, right? He is very angry of the fact that she dis- respected him.) I tell them the truth.
"Woh Ananya ko dand Dena chahtein hai." (He wants to punish Ananya.)
"Kya!" (What!) both the boy's roar.
"Shush!" Ashwatthama silences them. "Koi Hume sun lega." (Somebody will hear us.)
"Kshama" (Sorry) They both say at the same time, calming down.
"Toh Hume Kya Karna hai?" (So, what do we need to do?) Nakul asks.
"Hume Ananya par dhyana rakhna hoga." (We need to keep eyes on Ananya.) I tell them truthfully. "Woh humari behena hai. Usko koi shati paunche, yeh hum nahi dekh sakte." (She is my sister. If she gets hurt, I won't be able to accept it.)
"Hume samajh rahien hai, Bhrata." (We are understanding, brother.) Sehdev agrees.
"Par?" (But?) Ashwatthama impromptus him.
"Par, iske barien Mein, Hum Kya karein?" (But what should we do about this?)
"Hum Behena par hamesha dhyana nahi de sakte, Mama shree ko shakh Ho jayega. Woh aise hi hum se bahut khush nahi Hain." (I can't always pay attention on my sisters, well- being, uncle may get suspicious. As also he isn't very happy of me.) I explain.
"Aap us par dhyana dijiye. Hume jaise hi kuch pata chalega, hum aapko bata denge." (You guys can pay attention to her. Whenever I will find anything related, I will inform you guys.)
"Vichar toh bahut hi achcha hai." (Your idea is very nice.) Sehdev and Nakul agree, whole- heartedly.
"Toh hum aisa hi karenge." (So, we are going to do it this way.) Ashwatthama draws the conclusion.
"Par aap humare shesh Bhrata, ko Kyun nahi samalit ka Rahe?" (But why are you not including the rest of my brothers?) Nakul asks.
"Kyunki jitney jyada log honge, utna zyada bat ke samane aane ki sambhavana hai." (Because more the number of people, the more is the chances of the talk coming out in open.) I answer.
"Yeh bat bhi sahi hai." (This is also correct.) Sehdev agrees.
"Toh Hume vishwas hona chahhiye ki behena par kuch sankat nahi aayega?" (So, I should be believing you guys, that my sister will never need to go through any crisis.) I ask for confirmation.
"Awashya Bhrata." (Of course, brother.) Both of them promise me.
"Main aap dono ka abhari Hun." (I am obliged to both of you.) I smile at them.
"Yeh humara kartavya hai, Bhrata." (It is our duty, brother.) Nakul says.
"Woh humari bhi behena hi toh hai. Unki Shati Hume bhi svikarya nahi hogi Bhrata." (She is our sister too. Her hurt is not acceptable to us too, Brother.) Sehdev completes his twin brothers' lines.
"Bhadiya." (Great.) Ashwatthama claps his hand, "Hume Khanna khane jana chahhiye. Sab Hume khogenge." (We should go for dinner. Everybody must be searching for us.)
"Sahi kaha aapne, Ashwatthama. Chalein?" (You are right, Ashwatthama. Should we move?) Sehdev asks, rising from his seat.
"Haan" (Yes) Me and Nakul say at the same time.
And that is how I found myself walking to lunch with the Ashwini twins and Ashwatthama. We were ourselves, laughing at the scene people would see.
What would they see? Feel?
I wonder what the other brothers of Ashwini twins think?
Yudhishthira, may just look it away, with a smile. He has never doubted me. Never blamed me. I doubt he will do it now.
His dharma, the strongest thing I have ever know and will know. Nobody can have a control on themselves like he does. His promise of not lying, also intrigues me. Greatest thing is that he keeps it.
Bheema, that tough guy, I have always wished that I could make a bound with him. We are so similar, yet so different. We could be the best friends or the worst enemies. Truth to be told, I have seen what being an enemy does. I wonder if we can be the best of friends.
Arjun. Oh, that guy, he is an interesting person to have as brother. A very hot- headed yet he knows how to deal with situations.
Karn always says that he very competent and Guru dev's confidence in him is making him over- confident. Somebody needs to check it out for him. Help him in dealing with it.
