Kuchel sat on the floor, folding Yuna's new clothes for the closet, neatly stacking tiny shirts, socks, and pants. Meanwhile, the so-called "helpers," Furlan and Isabel, had completely abandoned their mission and were lounging on the couch, scrolling through OTT platforms on the TV.
"Aren't you two supposed to be helping?" Levi muttered, watching them with mild annoyance.
Furlan shrugged. "Helping her adjust."
Isabel grinned. "By playing the ultimate kid movie."
And then—they pressed play.
On the screen, the familiar opening credits of Baby's Day Out rolled in.
Yuna, seated comfortably on Levi's lap, immediately focused, her heterochromic eyes glued to the screen.
At first, it was simple. A baby getting kidnapped? Fine. Whatever.
But as the movie went on, Levi started noticing something.
Yuna was way too into it.
She didn't blink. She didn't move. She was watching this baby scheme its way through an entire city.
It got to the part where Baby Bink, clueless but lucky, escaped onto a bus while the dumbass criminals panicked.
Levi side-eyed the brat. She was taking notes.
"Oi," Levi muttered, poking her cheek lightly. "Blink."
She blinked. Once. And then immediately went back to absorbing knowledge.
Then came the scene where Baby Bink was between two parents in the park, safe and sound.
Without thinking, Levi reached out and covered Yuna's eyes.
"What?" Isabel laughed. "It's just a happy moment."
Levi frowned. "It's... too happy."
Yuna, confused by the sudden darkness, swatted at his hands. "Papa!"
Levi sighed and let go.
She blinked up at him, staring, and then settled right back into watching.
Furlan chuckled. "Damn, Levi. You going soft?"
Levi grumbled but didn't answer.
Next was the construction site chase scene.
Baby Bink crawled across beams like he was some fearless little acrobat while the kidnappers barely avoided falling to their deaths.
Yuna gasped, her tiny hands gripping Levi's shirt.
Levi deadpanned. "Don't get any ideas."
"Baby go up," Yuna pointed.
"You stay down."
Furlan snorted. "Dude, I think she wants to live like Baby Bink."
Levi scowled. "Over my dead body."
Halfway through the movie, Yuna suddenly spoke, her little voice confident.
"Tuna talk. Baby no talk."
Levi nodded. "Yeah."
"Tuna walk. Baby no walk."
Levi smirked. "That's right."
"Tuna good."
Levi chuckled. "Yeah, yeah."
And then—she squinted at the TV, her little brain processing something. Slowly, she rolled over and crawled to Kuchel, who was still folding clothes.
She scanned the clothes, her eyes narrowing before she pointed at a pair of overalls.
"Tuna baby clothes."
Levi leaned forward. "What?"
Kuchel picked up the tiny overalls, confused. "What's wrong with these?"
Yuna frowned and patted her own shirt. Then pointed at the dangaree on the screen.
Everyone stopped.
The pattern was almost identical.
Different color. Same style.
The brat recognized it.
Furlan stared. "Bro... your kid is smart."
Levi exhaled, rubbing his face. "Great. She's got a brain and a mouth."
Isabel laughed. "We're doomed."
Isabel stretched on the couch and let out a dramatic sigh. "Ugh. I'm hungry."
Then she turned and stared at Levi.
Levi narrowed his eyes. "No."
She kept staring.
"...No."
The brat, still sitting on his lap, copied him. "No."
Isabel pouted. "C'mon, Papa Levi, be a good dad and feed your guests."
Levi scowled. "I should've left you at the store."
But he still got up and went to the kitchen, grumbling under his breath.
And, of course, Yuna followed.
Levi stopped mid-step. "What are you doing?"
Yuna clung to his pant leg. "Go with Papa."
Levi sighed. "I'm just making food, brat."
She shook her head, eyes big and serious. "If no Papa, bad guys take Tuna baby."
Levi stared.
Then realization hit.
She was still thinking about Baby's Day Out.
She thought she was Baby Bink.
Levi groaned. "For fuck's sake—"
"Bad word!"
Levi sighed and lifted her up. "Tch. Fine. Come on, Baby Bink."
Yuna clapped. "Tuna Bink!"
Levi set her on the counter and pulled out a bag of popcorn, tossing it into the microwave. He hit the button and waited, arms crossed.
Yuna watched the microwave with intense focus, her little legs swinging.
Then—
POP.
She gasped.
POP POP POP.
Yuna's mouth fell open.
By the time the bag was done expanding, she was vibrating with excitement.
Levi chuckled. "It's just popcorn, brat."
Yuna didn't answer. She was still absorbing the event.
When they walked back into the living room, Yuna ran straight to Kuchel, eyes wide.
"Grandma, Grandma!" she gasped, grabbing her sleeve. "The food went—"
And then she mimicked the sound of popping popcorn.
"PAK PAK PAK PAK PAK!"
Kuchel blinked. Then burst into laughter. "Oh, my baby, that's adorable."
Levi slumped onto the couch, handing Isabel the popcorn. "Here. Eat. Choke. I don't care."
Yuna turned to him, still excited. "Papa, PAK PAK PAK!"
Levi exhaled. "Yeah, yeah. PAK PAK PAK."
Furlan grinned. "Bro, you're so gone for this kid."
Levi scowled. But he didn't deny it.
The movie had long since ended, but no one had the energy to get up. The living room was now a battlefield of sprawled-out bodies, abandoned popcorn, and a soft glow from the TV screen.
Isabel had somehow contorted herself into a yoga position on the floor, one leg tucked under her body, the other thrown over the couch. It didn't even look comfortable, yet she snored softly, completely dead to the world.
Furlan, ever the normal one, was asleep properly—back against the couch, arms crossed like he was attending his own funeral.
And then there was Yuna.
Curled up right against Levi.
The tiny thing had wedged herself into his side, her small fingers clutching onto his shirt like he'd disappear if she let go. Her black hair was a messy halo against his chest, little puffs of breath escaping her lips as she slept peacefully.
Levi, despite being completely unaware of how this happened, hadn't moved. His arm was instinctively wrapped around her, keeping her close, keeping her safe.
Kuchel walked in, pausing at the sight.
Her lips curled into a fond smile. She should've taken a picture.
Instead, she just draped a blanket over them all and whispered, "Good night,"
Yuna stirred slightly but didn't wake, pressing her face deeper into Levi's shirt.
Levi let out a slow breath, barely awake himself.
"...Yeah. Night."
