KACEY'S NEW HOME
los angeles, california

6pm
i stood at my front door as i ushered people in for my housewarming party. the sound of laughter and chatter filled the air as guests filtered into my new home. the place had been transformed into a party venue, with colorful decorations, music playing softly in the background, and a bar set up in the living room.
i smiled as i greeted everyone, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. this was my first time hosting a party here, and i wanted everything to be perfect.
i spotted ivy, penny and carmen entering the house together, their arms laden with gift bags. i greeted them with a warm smile. "hey you guys," i said, giving them each a hug. "so glad you could make it."
"of course, we wouldn't have missed it for the world!" penny grinned, handing me one of the gift bags. "here, this is for you. congrats on the new house, kace."
i took the bag from her, feeling a mix of gratitude and nervousness. i was never good at accepting gifts, it always made me feel like i owed something in return. "oh, you all really didn't have to get me anything," i protested.
ivy rolled her eyes playfully, swatting my arm. "oh, shut up. you know we love shopping for you, so just accept the gifts gracefully, alright?"
"alright." i said with a nod before watching as they walked with other guests. more and more people came in. like, the hadid sisters, lily-rose depp, lila moss, barry keoghan, daisy newton, austin butler, kaia gerber, lana and so many more.
the house was bustling with activity, people mingling and chatting, music playing in the background, and the smell of food and drinks filling the air. it felt great to be surrounded by friends and loved ones in my new home.
i made my way through the crowd, greeting people and making small talk. some were chatting about the new song, saying how much they loved it and how i looked happier than ever.
i cleared my throat at the front of the living room and turned down the music to grab everyone's attention. "hey everyone, can i get your attention for a minute?" i called out, addressing the crowd. the chatter and music died down as people turned to look at me, curious to see what i had to say. "thank you," i said with a smile. "first off, i just want to say thank you all so much for coming tonight. it means a lot to me that you all could be here to help me celebrate my new home." i glanced around the room, making eye contact with a few familiar faces.
as i was speaking the front door opened as callum walked through. i paused for a moment, noticing that callum had just walked in. my heart skipped a beat as our eyes met. i could feel a small smile tugging at the corner of my lips, but i quickly composed myself and continued my speech.
"anyway, i just want to say that i am so grateful to have each and every one of you in my life." i said, looking around at the sea of faces. "you all have been there for me through thick and thin, and i couldn't have asked for better friends and loved ones. thank you all for being here with me tonight to celebrate this new chapter in my life."
i started to walk over to callum but austin and barry quickly pulled callum into a hug. "long time no see, man!" austin yelled at callum.
i chuckled to myself as i watched austin and barry pounce on callum, pulling him into a bear hug. callum laughed and returned the embrace, clearly happy to see them. "yeah, it's been awhile," he said, ruffling barry's hair affectionately. "how have you two been?"
to not be seen as ear hustling i made my way over to daisy who was standing with carmen, ivy and penny. "hi ladies," i said to them.
they all turned to me and smiled. ivy was the first to speak up. "hey, kacey! congrats again on the new place, it's gorgeous."
penny nodded in agreement. "seriously, it's like straight out of a magazine. i'm so jealous."
carmen clapped her hands together. "and this party is everything, you really outdid yourself, kacey."
i smiled at their praise. "thanks, guys. i'm so glad you all could come." my eyes flicked over to callum, who was still being bombarded by austin and barry.
ivy noticed me looking and raised an eyebrow. "you wanna go save him, don't you?" she asked, a smirk on her face.
i shook my head. "they're all good friends, i don't think he needs saving."
carmen chuckled softly. "yeah, but you clearly want to at least say hi to him." she teased.
i rolled my eyes playfully. "oh shut up, no i don't." i was trying to act nonchalant, but the truth was that i was practically itching to go talk to callum.
penny laughed. "it's your party, remember. do something to get his attention."
"like what?" i asked, raising an eyebrow. i wasn't really sure what penny was suggesting.
"clink your glass," ivy chimed in.
carmen looked around before her eyes landed on my karaoke machine. "there." she pointed.
i followed her gaze and saw the karaoke machine in the corner of the room, a smirk playing on my lips. it was a ridiculous but also kind of perfect idea.
"he hates singing." i said softly.
penny shrugged. "and that's why it will definitely get his attention."
ivy nodded in agreement. "trust me, it'll work."
i chewed on my bottom lip, considering my options before finally nodding. "okay, fine. but if this goes wrong, it's all on you guys."
they all smirked and nodded, clearly excited to see what was about to go down.
"someone go with me." i pleaded.
ivy looped her arm through mine. "don't worry, i've got you." she reassured me as we made our way over to the karaoke machine.
once we were in front of it, i picked up the microphone, testing it to make sure it was working. "alright, here goes nothing," i muttered under my breath.
ivy and i scrolled through the songs before picking, 'just a girl' by no doubt.
i took a deep breath, feeling my heart racing in my chest. i pressed play on the karaoke machine and the music started. i closed my eyes for a moment, gathering my thoughts before opening my mouth and letting the words flow out.
"just a girl, living in captivity," ivy and i sang. our voices ringing through the microphone.
i was putting all of my heart and soul into the song, letting the lyrics convey how i really felt inside. i glanced around the room, noticing that people had started to notice. then, i spotted callum. he was looking right at me, a mixture of surprise and intrigue on his face.
as i locked eyes with callum, i felt a shiver run down my spine. i could feel his gaze on me, and it was both thrilling and intimidating at the same time. i continued singing, feeling more and more empowered with each word.
ivy and i hit every note and every word perfectly, the music and lyrics expressing everything we wanted them to. as we reached the climax of the song, i could see callum walking towards the makeshift stage.
i forced myself to keep my focus on the song, despite the fact that callum was now standing right in front of me. i could feel his breath on my skin, making it harder to concentrate. but i refused to let it affect me, i was determined to finish the performance.
the last few lines of the song came and went, and ivy and i ended it with a perfect harmony. the room erupted into applause, the sound of cheers and whistles filling the air.
"who's next?" i called out as i held up the mic.
there were a few volunteers, mostly drunk people who were clearly not going to sing well, but before anyone could take the microphone from me, a familiar voice rang out.
"i'll go." callum volunteered.
"you will?" i asked with raised eyebrows, clearly surprised.
callum nodded, a smirk playing on his lips. "yeah, why not? you put on a hell of a show, it's only fair that i try and one-up you."
"excuse me but i thought you would never go near a mic when i'm within earshot." i said as i handed him the mic.
he chuckled as he took the mic from me. "normally that would be true, but i guess i'm feeling adventurous tonight."
the crowd around us erupted into cheers and whistles, clearly eager to hear callum sing.
"now the real question is, what do i pick to blow your performance out of the water." he challenged.
i crossed my arms and raised an eyebrow, challenge in my eyes. "oh, i highly doubt you'll be able to blow me out of the water."
callum chuckled, his confidence radiating off of him. "oh yeah? we'll see about that." he scrolled through the song options on the karaoke machine, searching for the perfect song.
i stood back, watching as callum continued to scroll through the songs. i could see him grinning to himself, clearly pleased with whatever he was choosing. ivy stood beside me, also watching as callum made his decision. "what do you think he's gonna sing?" she whispered to me.
"i don't know, but i swear if he starts singing 'say my name' by destiny's child..." i trailed off with a smile on my face.
ivy let out a laugh. "oh god, that would be both hilarious and endearing."
callum finally stopped scrolling and selected his song, placing the microphone back into the stand. he looked directly at me, a playful grin on his face. "you ready for this?" he asked.
i returned his grin with a smirk of my own. "i was born ready." the opening notes of the song began playing, and i waited eagerly to see what callum had chosen.
the familiar opening chords of 'bennie and the jets' filled the room as the song began. callum closed his eyes for a moment, a cocky smile on his face, before he started to sing.
at first, i was stunned. this was a side of callum i had never seen before. he was completely in his element, singing with a confidence that was almost intoxicating. he hit every note perfectly, his voice deep and smooth.
as he continued to sing, the crowd around us started to join in. it was clear that they were loving his performance, the room filled with the sounds of cheers and applause.
i couldn't help but watch him in awe, completely mesmerized by his voice. as much as i didn't want to admit it, i was completely drawn to him, unable to tear my eyes away. as the song reached its climax, callum opened his eyes and looked directly at me. his gaze was intense and unwavering, sending shivers down my spine. it was as if he was singing the song directly to me, the lyrics taking on a whole new meaning.
finally, the song came to an end, the final notes fading away. the room erupted into applause, the crowd clearly blown away by callum's performance. callum stepped down from the stage, a satisfied smirk on his face.
as callum made his way through the crowd, people were slapping him on the back and congratulating him. he made his way over to ivy and i, his eyes never leaving mine.
"so," he said, a smug smile on his face. "what did you think?"
i tried to play it cool, pretending like his performance hadn't affected me, but the truth was that i was practically swooning. i mean, the man had just sung an elton john song absolutely perfectly. "it was alright." i responded casually, trying to keep my voice steady.
callum chuckled, seeing right through my attempt at nonchalance. "just alright, huh?" he leaned in closer, his breath warm against my skin. "i think you liked it more than you're letting on."
i felt my cheeks flush as he got closer, but i tried to keep my cool. "maybe a little," i admitted, unable to hold back a small smile.
callum chuckled again, clearly enjoying making me flustered. "see, was that so hard?" he asked, his eyes tracing over my face.
i rolled my eyes playfully, trying to regain some of my composure. "you're insufferable, you know that?"
i turned to see my mom and kim gathered around the karaoke machine, singing along to maroon 5's 'sunday morning.'
i couldn't help but smile, my family was definitely wilding. the two of them sang together, their voices blending perfectly. they were clearly having a blast, and the crowd was loving it. people were cheering and singing along with them, the energy in the room was infectious.
even callum couldn't help but smile as he watched my family sing. "your family is something else," he said, amusement evident in his voice.
i laughed softly, nodding in agreement. "just wait until you meet them."
we watched for a few more moments as my mom, kris and kim finished up the song, the crowd erupting into applause. they stepped down from the stage, high-fiving people as they made their way over to us.
"wow, that was quite the performance," callum said to them, clearly impressed.
my mom laughed, a coy smile on her face. "oh, we've done much worse trust me." kim nodded in agreement, matching smirks on their faces.
kylie and kendall joined us, both of them beaming with pride. "you guys were amazing," kylie exclaimed.
kim laughed and ruffled kylie's hair. "yeah, we killed it."
kendall nodded in agreement before turning to me. "and we saw your little performance too," she said with a smirk.
i felt my cheeks flush as she mentioned my performance. "yeah, it was a spur of the moment thing," i said casually, trying to play it off.
kim saw right through my lie and laughed. "oh please, you know you killed it."
kylie nodded eagerly. "yeah, you sounded amazing. we were so proud."
"where's khloé?" i asked.
kylie looked around before pointing across the room. "she just stepped out for a bit. something about a work-related call."
kendall nodded. "yeah, she'll be back soon." she turned to callum, a sly smile on her face. "so, callum, enjoying the party so far?"
callum smiled at her, clearly unphased by her smirk. "yeah, it's been great. kacey throws a pretty sick party."
kylie raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her lips. "oh does she now?"
i could feel my cheeks heating up once again. "callum, meet my family. kris, kim, kendall, kylie and khloé is outside."
callum chuckled at my introduction before turning to my family and extending a hand. "it's nice to meet you all."
my family exchanged polite greetings, clearly sizing him up as they shook his hand.
"isn't there another kardashian?" callum asked me.
"two others. rob and kourtney, rob is off the grid most of the time and kourtney and i don't get along." i explained.
kim nodded grimly. "yeah, kourtney is on her own journey or whatever."
callum chuckled, clearly intrigued by the dynamic within my family. "sounds like quite the group."
"you have no idea." i muttered.
just then, we were interrupted by the sound of the front door opening, followed by the familiar sound of khloé's voice. "i'm back!"
the party continued on, with people drinking, dancing and laughing. callum and i had spent most of the night talking and catching up. he was charming and witty, keeping me entertained with his stories and jokes. we were interrupted occasionally by my family, who kept trying to catch us alone together.
as the night went on, the crowd began to thin out and the music died down. people started to say their goodbyes and head home.
i said my goodbyes to the last few guests, thanking them for coming and wishing them a safe drive home. i was suddenly exhausted from the night's events, as well as tipsy from the alcohol.
