THE PRESCOTT-ROSSI RESIDENCE
manhattan, new york
7:15am
after spending the entire weekend in her bedroom in hopes of not running into her mother, only leaving late at night to get food, addison finally left her bedroom.
stepping out of her bedroom, she looked around before walking down the stairs hoping to just slip out of the door and head to school, but as soon as she got at the bottom of the steps her mother called out to her.
"addie? honey, i know that's you. come join us for breakfast!" evelyn yelled from the kitchen in a weirdly inviting tone.
hesitantly, addison walked into the kitchen. elizabeth, evelyn, and daniel were already seated at the table though there were five plates on the table.
"what's with the extra plate?" addison asked as she sat at the table, a plate full of food in front of her.
"um..." evelyn hummed before there was a knock on the door. "that'll be him." she said as she quickly walked to the front door.
"who's here?" addison asked danny who only shrugged. she turned to her younger sister who rolled her eyes at her mother's antics.
"thank you for coming on such short notice." evelyn said which caused addison to raise her eyebrows. "the kitchen's just in here...so are the girls." with that, evelyn walked in with andrew following close behind. a crooked smile on his face.
"you're here!" addison grinned as she practically tackled her father. elizabeth and danny looked at each other in confusion, wondering why andy was there so early in the morning or at all. evelyn smiled, just glad to see her youngest daughter happy. addison always had a special connection with her father that no one else in her life had. "how long are you going to be here for?"
"however long it takes for you to stop acting out." he replied as he kissed the blonde girl's forehead.
addison pulled away with that, "you're only here because i'm in trouble."
"well yeah, your mom called me down here to straighten you out. i heard that you went out on the town drinking." he explained.
addison scoffed, "good to know that you came here to just check up on your family," the girl said sarcastically.
evelyn sighed, sitting down at the table. "we're fine, addison. the only one who isn't is you. you're only sixteen, you have to stop this." she said in her authoritative tone.
"stop what?" the girl asked as she sat back down at the table. "being young?"
"no, being a drunk." her mother snapped.
elizabeth who had been dreading that her father was even back got up. "i'm going to walk to school early." she said as she slipped her backpack on. "bye guys."
"wait, i'll walk with you!" addison pleaded.
"no, you'll eat while you listen to us talk." evelyn ordered.
addison rolled her eyes, "you two just love telling me what to do, don't you?"
evelyn sighed as she took her fork and started to eat the bacon on her plate. "don't start, addison. you know exactly why you're trouble. you have to stop before you ruin your life."
"i won't ruin my life! i'm just trying to have a little fun!" addison shouted as she slammed her hands into the table, causing the plates to rattle. "you're so strict all the time! i'm not allowed to do anything i wanna do except eat, sleep, go to school and be your perfect daughter. i'm not a little kid, i don't need you guys breathing down my neck."
"you're not drinking to have fun, we all know it, addison! you're doing it as an escape!" evelyn shot back.
"an escape? is that what you think i'm doing? escaping from what?" addison rolled her eyes. "please enlighten me on how me trying to enjoy my last year in my teen years is me escaping? i just wanted to have a drink and that's what i did! it's not hurting anyone!"
andrew slammed his hands on the table, which shut everyone up. "that's enough! no more yelling."
"you're mad that your father moved to london, he was your best friend. i understand your anger, honey. but drinking isn't the answer." evelyn replied in a calmer voice.
a look of hurt crossed addison's face as she looked away from her parents. "fine, you want the truth? i do miss dad. a lot. he was the only one who actually understood me." the girl finally confessed, pushing her plate away angrily.
"you have us here." evelyn replied, "and your father is here right now!"
"that's right. i'm here, ad." andrew said.
addison scoffed, "for how long?"
"until you get yourself together." the man replied. "you need to stop acting out like this, you're ruining your life. i'm not going to let you do that."
"i should go. i don't want to be late for school." addison retorted, ignoring her father's words.
"i'll walk you." andrew said.
"what are you, scared that i'll pick up a drink on my way to school?" addison replied sarcastically.
"with the way you're going, it wouldn't be that surprising." evelyn muttered.
addison slammed her hands against the table again and stood up angrily, "just keep judging me, like always! that's all i am to you guys, right? a drunk who needs to be locked away."
"that's not what we think of you, addison." andrew tried to reason.
"that's exactly how you think!" the girl yelled. "you never trust me to actually do something right!"
daniel, who had been quiet spoke up. "how about i walk you?" he said in a kind tone.
addison was about to agree before her father cut in, "no, i'll walk my own daughter, daniel." andrew said as he stomped off to the front door, holding it open for addison. "let's go."
addison sighed as she grabbed her coat. looking back one last time she left the house with her father. this was going to be a long day.
CONSTANCE BILLARD-ST. JUDE SCHOOL
8:25am
during the walk to school, the girl and her father walked in silence. the only thing that could be heard was the clicking of heels and the honking of taxi horns. new york was always crowded with people.
once they arrived at the school, andrew looked at the girl. "guess this is you." he said.
she nodded, "yeah, it is." she said in a deadpanned tone.
"hey, don't be like that. your mom asked me here for a good reason and i promise you that i'd come to visit you and your sisters without her push." andrew said.
addison sighed, "yeah, i know you did. sorry for my attitude, it was uncalled for." she said before giving him a hug, "i missed you, dad." she smiled.
"i missed you too, sweetheart." he kissed her forehead. "just try not to stress your mom too much." he suggested.
"only if she promises not to stress me out." she told the man. "i swear i'll get grey hairs by the time i'm eighteen."
"jim morrison started to get grey hairs at the age of twenty four." andrew informed the girl as he leaned on the brick wall. he often shared random facts.
addison rolled her eyes, always annoyed with the random facts her dad spat out. "dad, please stop. you'm not some wise old man, you're forty two."
andrew laughed, "hey, i'm more than just a good looking man, ya know?"
addison nodded, "oh yeah, you're a good looking man with a lot of old music taste." she teased.
"oh please, it's not old music, it's classic music." andrew stated.
"mr. prescott?" a voice called out. then came serena, putting a face to the voice. "i thought that was you! hi!" she exclaimed.
"hey, serena. how are you?" he asked the girl as he smiled warmly.
"i'm good!" serena grinned, "it's been forever. where have you been?" she asked. barely anyone had known where addison's father went off to after embezzling money, serena included.
"oh, all around." andrew told the girl vaguely.
serena only nodded, she wasn't one to pry. brooke walked over with a smile. "brooke waldorf." the brunette said as she extended her hand to andrew.
"andrew prescott." andrew shook her hand in return. "nice to meet you."
"you're addison's dad?!" brooke asked in disbelief. "wow, you do not look old enough to be a dad."
addison snickered, "he was always told he looked young. he could literally pass as our brother."
andrew gave his daughter a playful glare, "thanks for the ego boost."
"hey, you do it to yourself." addison shrugged before yawning. "anyway, we better head to class." she said to andrew. "bye, dad."
"bye, sweetheart. be good." he replied, kissing her forehead once more. he turned and started to walk away.
addison waved to him and walked with serena to class, leaving a confused brooke standing there by herself. the brunette quickly caught up to them.
"can i date your dad?" brooke asked, the question was hysterical but she sounded serious.
addison nearly choked on her own saliva at the blunt question. "you are joking, right?" the blonde asked her.
"why would i joke about that?" brooke asked with a pout. "he's gorgeous! not to mention if he's related to addison he's really rich. what does he do again?"
"first of all, he's her dad. second, he's her dad. third, why would he date a sixteen year old, brooke?" serena pointed out.
"i'm only asking, sheesh! besides sixteen isn't bad, i could totally pass for older.." brooke shrugged.
"you're my friend, he knows you're under eighteen." addison told the brunette who waved her off. "he literally just saw you walk into our highschool building!"
"it's just harmless flirting for now." brooke informed the girl. "what's the age of consent in new york, anyways?" she wondered.
"seventeen, but trust me, my dad would definitely not go with you." addison replied with a sigh.
"fine. i'll just put him on my door." brooke told the two. it wasn't news to anyone about the lore of brooke's door, she had a habit of writing whatever she wanted on her bedroom door. either poetry, names, or random doodles.
"you're insane, brooke." addison remarked with a roll of her eyes.
STARBUCKS COFFEE
new york, new york
3:45pm
after a stressful day at school which was filled with intense schoolwork and the avoidance of nate archibald, addison got a hold of her coffee from the barista that was just made for her. "thanks." she said to the barista as she turned to face the door.
through the glass door she noticed nate archibald beginning to walk in. she couldn't bring herself to talk to him, especially after hearing that she made out with him while drunk.
to avoid him once more, she sat down at an empty seat where a group of guys were. they seemed to be college guys. the four boys looked at her with raised eyebrows. "what were we talking about?" she asked them with an awkward chuckle.
the guys exchanged confused looks before looking back to addison. "not much. who are you?" a brunette man with light brown eyes asked, taking a sip of his coffee.
"why do you care?" addison challenged.
"wait a minute. i know you." said a guy with light brown hair, and blue eyes. he wore a harvard shirt.
"do you?" she replied.
he quickly nodded, "you were that girl who was drunk out of her mind at that halloween party."
this comment made her cringe. what she had done at the halloween party was beyond embarrassing. she was drunk and couldn't even remember a thing. "and what about it?" addison crossed her arms.
"i sat with you, making sure you were okay." the harvard man replied.
"yeah?" she asked, more intrigued.
the man nodded, "yeah. i saw that you had one too many drinks, so i sat with you and waited until the party died down."
"addison prescott." she said as she extended her hand.
"matthew harvard." he replied as he shook her hand gently.
"harvard last name, in a harvard shirt. quite the coincidence." she told the man.
"not really. i actually attend harvard." he said as the other boys chuckled.
"plus he has to represent his family." another man spoke up.
"your family are harvard founders?" addison questioned.
"yep. you could say i have a legacy to live up to." matthew replied. "so what're you in for? besides coffee?"
"just a caramel macchiato. figured i could use a pick me up after a long day. a girl's gotta get her daily caffeine, you know?" she answered with a small laugh.
"oh, i know. i can't survive without it. i always have about three coffee's in the morning before going to my classes." he told her.
she looked back subtly to see if nate was still in the cafe, only to see him on line while shooting daggers at the table she was seated at.
"well, i think that i should go." she told them. "thanks for being my savior of some sort at the party." she said as she stood up.
"wait, can i get your number?" matthew asked, his friends looking at him like he were crazy.
"sure. give me your phone, i'll put it in." addison replied. she took his phone and put her number in before handing it back. "there you go, harvard."
matthew smiled, "i'll be sure to message you sometime." he told her.
"i look forward to it." she waved goodbye to him.
"bye prescott." he told her as she left, feeling a little better than when she entered.
NEW YORK PALACE HOTEL
new york, new york
4:30pm
"you mean to tell me that you made out with nate after i left the party, met some hot college guy, saw the hot college guy at the starbucks and nate was there?" serena summarized as she was sprung across her bed.
"i told you, we're calling him 'harvard hottie' not just 'some college guy.'" she reminded the blonde.
"right, sorry sorry." serena said as she took a sip of addie's coffee.
"it's okay, just keep it straight." addison said as she paced around her best friend's room. "this whole thing is a mess."
"you know, it's actually not too bad. you had a good night with the college hottie. you got some action with nate." serena pointed out.
"harvard hottie." addison corrected.
"harvard hottie." serena repeated.
addison sighed, "i can't tell if you're being a supportive friend or just encouraging my horrible behavior." addison remarked.
"well, it's not like nate cheated on blair with you at the party. blair told me that they've been in this on and off phase. he's been more distant and yata-yata." serena said as she watched her best friend pace.
"really? he's been distant from blair? i wonder why.." addison stopped pacing and looked at serena, "i wonder if it's because of me..." she murmured.
"what's that supposed to mean?" serena asked, not quite catching what addison had said since she had mumbled.
addison shook her head, "nothing, don't worry about it. i need to be focused on my family anyway. they've been on my ass." addison said as she sat on the bed.
"what about?" serena inquired.
"my partying habits." addison replied.
"well, you are kind of reckless." serena admitted.
addison snorted, "i'm not reckless, i just know a good time when i see it." she insisted. "and you're just as reckless as me!"
"i used to be, i'm a changed woman." serena claimed.
"scarlett said people never change." addison quoted her sister.
"scarlett is dramatic." serena told her. "besides, people change and grow as they make the mistakes and learn from them."
addison sighed, "i don't get why it's such a big deal that i enjoy a few parties. i'm sixteen, i'm supposed to experience things." she tried to reason, "anyway, can i spend the night here? they're totally pissed at me."
"mi casa su casa, you know that." serena replied.
"had to make sure, since your casa has been moved to a hotel." addison said.
serena rolled her eyes, "don't remind me. my mom's remodeling our place for the fifteenth time....but uh, we should be back there in no time.
careful b, it looks like a is coming for your precious nate archibald...unless she already has.
