STREETS OF NEW YORK
new york, new york
6:15am
around this time, most upper east-siders are either just waking up, getting ready for school, but if you're nate archibald your run is being interrupted by an upset addison prescott.
"nate!" the blonde girl called out from behind the nate as he ran alongside an older man.
nate stopped running and turned to see addison. "addie? what are you-" he paused. he looked between his dad who also stopped and addison. "what's going on?" he said.
addison who was in no running attire stopped infront of the two, she looked at his dad and held out her hand. "addison prescott, a friend of nate's." she introduced.
he took her hand with a smile. "pleasure to meet you." once howard picked up on the need for privacy he pat his son's shoulder. "i'll meet you up there."
"yeah, yeah, okay." nate replied, his eyes not waving addison as his dad ran off.
"did you hear about what happened during the mixer?" addison asked.
he let out a sigh, "yeah, i heard. look, i'm sorry that happened."
"why would you even tell blair about what happened? you promised! we promised that we wouldn't tell her." addison pleaded.
"she knew i was acting extra jumpy when you came back to town! i had no choice." he gently argued.
a small scoff left her lips. "did you really have no choice, nate?"
nate bit his lip. he hated when addison was angry with him. "i'm sorry, okay? what do you want me to say? what can i do?"
she took a seat on a nearby bench. "i don't even know why i'm so mad. i really don't care that she ruined my chances at an ivy. i don't even want to go to brown, my mom wants me to."
"i hear you. i walked out of the mixer and gave dan humphrey my ushering spot for dartmouth." nate asked as he took a seat next to her. "my dad just wants me to go, i don't want to go."
"dan humphrey? who's that?" addison inquired.
"the guy serena's been seeing. you don't know him?" he replied.
addie shook her head, "oh, nevermind. i remember him now."
"so, why did you want to meet with me? to yell at me about blair?" nate asked after a long moment of silence between the two.
addison bit her lip as she began to blush deeply. "no, it's not about blair." she said, her voice barely louder than a whisper. "we just haven't talked since i came back."
"blair hasn't given me a chance. she's been on edge since i told her." he explained.
"i just want to know if we're okay, you know? friends or something." addison corrected.
"do you want us to be something more?" he asked quietly.
addison stood up, "you have a girlfriend."
"obviously, but the way you said it made me think that you were insinuating something more..." he said.
addison gently ran her fingers through her hair. "nate, the last thing i want is to get between you and blair."
"you're right." he agreed, running his palm across his forehead. "i'm sorry this is what it's come to. i really liked what we had."
"so did i." she replied. "anyway, have a good day, nate." addison softly said as she began to walk off. "sorry for interrupting your run!" she called out.
"no, it's okay. have a good day, addison." nate told her before picking up his run once again.
as a confused addison walked down the streets of new york, a tall blonde woman ran into her. "gosh, i'm sorry!" the woman yelled out.
addison, annoyed, looked up only to see her sister, scarlett. "scar?" addison said.
scarlett looked down, recognizing her younger sister after she heard her nickname. "addie?! i haven't seen you in ages!" she stepped in with a tight hug. the sisters held each other close. "when did you get back to the city?" scarlett asked as they pulled back.
"oh a few days ago." addison replied before looking at the brownstone that addison was leaving and then taking notice of her sister's disheveled attire.
"the walk of shame, it never gets less embarrassing." she replied as she snaked her arm around the younger girl and walked down the street. "where are you headed? and where are you coming from?"
"oh, i'm just leaving central park. i had to talk to a friend. now i'm going home." addison admitted as they continued to walk. "so where'd you meet the guy?" addison asked as she nudged her older sister referring to the one stand she was leaving.
"i don't remember if i'm being completely honest." scarlett said with a shrug. "i was pretty drunk."
"scar!" addison whined with a head shake.
scarlett let out a laugh. "lighten up, you act like you've never drank before." she nudged addison slightly.
"no, i have." she replied.
scarlett looked over at her younger sister. "well, now you sound judgmental and you're not. i love partying. the city is meant for it."
addison nodded. "i get that, truly. but that year away kind of helped me." she softly said.
scarlett let out a chuckle, "you didn't need any help, i don't know why mom was so adamant about sending you off anyway. i mean cmon, you act like i do. and do i need help?" she rhetorically asked as addison shot her a glare. "don't answer that, but hey, maybe now that you're back in the city we can go out?"
"as in...like go out to a club?" she asked with a small laugh. "i don't know, scar."
scarlett sighed dramatically as she grabbed addison's hand and spun her into her arms. "come on, little sister. it'll be so much fun! you'll love, i promise. you can bring serena! we always had the most fun."
"she's not into all of that stuff anymore. she says she's changing." addison replied.
scarlett scoffed, "changing? serena van der woodsen? i can't believe what i'm hearing!"
addison rolled her eyes. "she's serious, though. it seems that she had a wake up call and she says she's moving on."
"let me guess, she met a guy." scarlett said.
"ding ding ding." addison replied.
scarlett laughed softly, "is he cute? well he has to be to make serena change her partying habits."
"he's alright." addison truthfully told her sister. "they've been spending an awful lot of time making out in the courtyard."
scarlett stopped in her tracks. "the courtyard? what a bedroom doesn't exist anymore?" her eyes widened slightly.
addison nodded, "i guess it's hard with their parents' schedule."
"well," scarlett said with a smirk as she looped her arm through her sister's once more. "guess you, me and serena are going to have a lot of catching up to do."
"guess so." the girl replied.
spotted, addison prescott and her older sister, scarlett prescott the well known party girl and model. seems like they're getting into old habits? and people claimed addison came back as sober as a judge, but maybe she's getting back to old habits with a little push.

NEW YORK PALACE HOTEL
new york, new york
7:30am
in the hotel that serena and her mom were temporarily staying in due to renovations at their place, i walked into serena's designated room.
it seemed as though she had just woken up, "addie? what are you doing?" she questioned.
"your new place is on the way to my house thought i'd stop by." addison said as she took in the purple room.
"it's only temporary, don't you worry." serena replied as she got out of bed. "so what's up? why are you skipping around town so early?"
addison let out a sigh, "i actually went to meet nate."
"nate? oh god, about the blair thing?" she asked as she walked into the bathroom, gesturing for addison to follow.
"yes the blair thing. nate claims that he had no choice but to tell her what we had going on." the girl confessed.
"which was what exactly?" serena pressed.
addie let out a sigh as she leaned against the wall.
"c'mon, you still have yet to tell me about it." serena said as she began to brush her teeth. "i won't tell a soul, you know that!" she promised through her mouthful of toothpaste.
"fine, but don't judge me." addison replied. "nate and i messed around from time to time." she said before receiving a glare from serena. "okay fine! more than time to time, but only when he was broken up from blair." she corrected.
"and?" serena questioned after she spit out her toothpaste.
addison's eyebrows furrowed. "and? that's it. we never took it too seriously, at least i hope we both didn't. but now blair knows and you know how she is. she hates me now."
serena nodded. "if nate's dating blair then you better hope that he's not in love with you." she quipped as she leaned against the vanity, before seeing a guy standing in the doorway. "dan! hey, what are you doing here?"
serena was shocked to seem dan in the bathroom, "dan? what are you doing here? how did you even get in?"
"your mom said it was okay for me to let myself in." he replied in a low tone.
"did she? i guess she finally likes you." she said with a small head nod.
addison gave the mysterious boy a small smile, "hello." she said. in honesty, she was worried about what he could have heard. "so, serena. scarlett asked if you wanted to go to a party with us."
serena turned back to the mirror to brush her hair, "i'm not much of a partier anymore."
"come on, serena! when's the last time you let me take you out?" addison questioned, her hands placed on her hips.
"fine, you've convinced me." the blonde replied.
"i think that it'll be just in time for halloween." addison said to the girl.
"just in time! a costume party, that'll be fun." serena squealed. "what should i be anyway?"
"you could be a sexy vampire." addison suggested in a teasing way.
"no, scarlett is for sure going to be doing that." serena pointed out.
"then you should be an angel and i can go as a devil." addison grinned. "it'll be perfect."
"we'll see." serena said with a smile.
"okay, i'll leave you lovebirds alone." addison said as she backed out of the bathroom. "bye!"
"bye! thanks for stopping by, love ya!" serena waved out.
addison gave serena a final small smile before walking out of the hotel room.
