77. The Holiday Reunion

Daegu – Morning of 28th December

The early morning sun filtered through the thin curtains of the twins’ shared room. Taehyung, still groggy from sleep, sat cross-legged on his bed, rummaging through a pile of clothes while V stood near the mirror, holding up a crisp white sweater.

"Don’t even think about wearing that." Taehyung said, his voice sharp, as he pulled out a beige turtleneck.

V shot him an unimpressed look. "Why? It looks better on me than it ever did on you."

"It’s mine." Taehyung countered, clutching the turtleneck like a lifeline. "And just because I let you borrow it once doesn’t mean it’s yours now."

V turned to face him fully, raising an eyebrow. "You’re impossible. Fine, wear this hideous thing and ruin everyone’s day."

"You just called it hideous because you can’t have it!" Taehyung snapped, standing up.

Their bickering echoed through the house, loud enough for their parents to hear downstairs.

Mrs. Kim stirred her hot chocolate lazily, a smile tugging at her lips. "They’re at it again," she said, leaning back on the couch.

Mr. Kim, engrossed in a crossword puzzle, chuckled. "They’ve been like this since they were kids. It’s either clothes, food, or who gets the bigger slice of cake."

"Do you think they’ll ever grow out of it?" she asked, her voice more amused than concerned.

"Not likely."

Just then, the sound of the doorbell broke through the warmth of their conversation. Mrs. Kim placed her mug down and rose to her feet, curious about who would visit this early in the day.

When she opened the door, she was met with the sight of Jimin and Jungkook, bundled up in thick scarves and jackets, their cheeks pink from the cold.

"Surprise!" Jimin exclaimed softly, his eyes crinkling as he smiled.

"Oh my goodness!" Mrs. Kim gasped, stepping aside to let them in. "You two are early! Come in, come in!"

Jungkook grinned. "We wanted to make sure they had no idea we were coming."

"They’ll be thrilled!" Mr. Kim said, standing up and shaking their hands warmly. "But you might need earplugs. The boys are... debating upstairs."

Jimin laughed. "Let me guess—clothes?"

"Bingo!" Mrs. Kim replied.

"Typical." Jungkook added, rolling his eyes playfully.

And on the other side, the quarrel only seemed to grow more.

"I’m not giving this up, Dowoo. It’s literally my signature look. Besides, you always stretch out the neck when you wear my clothes." he said with a smirk.

V's jaw dropped as he adjusted the sleeves of the white sweater he still held. "Stretch out the neck? Excuse me, who was the one who ruined my favorite bomber jacket because ‘oversized’ is your vibe?"

"That jacket looked better oversized anyway!" Taehyung shot back, narrowing his eyes.

"Better oversized? You looked like a drowned rat." V retorted, stepping closer to his brother, who immediately took a defensive stance.

"It’s called fashion." Taehyung huffed, turning to the mirror to dramatically drape the turtleneck over himself. "You wouldn’t understand."

"Oh, right," V mocked, crossing his arms. "Because apparently, ‘fashion’ means stealing every decent piece of clothing I own and prancing around like you’re on a runway."

"Prancing?" Taehyung spun around, his voice a pitch higher. "You’re one to talk. You couldn’t style yourself out of a paper bag without my help!"

"Ha! At least I don’t spend an hour obsessing over which shade of brown goes best with my mood." V shot back, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

Taehyung gasped as if personally affronted. "You—take that back!"

"Or what?" V challenged, smirking. "You’ll cry about it to eomma and appa?"

Before Taehyung could fire back, a loud knock on the door interrupted them.

"BOYS!" Mrs. Kim’s voice rang from downstairs. "Your guests are here!"

Both twins froze, exchanging confused glances.

"Guests?" Taehyung mouthed.

"Did you invite anyone?" V asked his brother, lowering the sweater.

"No. Did you?"

Before they could speculate further, the unmistakable sound of footsteps echoed up the stairs. A moment later, the door creaked open to reveal Jimin and Jungkook standing there, grinning like two mischievous elves.

"Surprise!" Jimin said, his voice soft but giddy.

"Wait. What—?" Taehyung blinked, dropping the turtleneck.

"You’re kidding." V muttered, his eyes widening.

"Oh no," Jungkook said with a sly grin. "Please don’t let us interrupt this... fashion council meeting."

Jimin laughed, stepping forward. "Let me guess—Taehyung won’t let V borrow his clothes again but steal his instead?"

"Nothing new, he does the same with me." Jungkook chimed in, shoving his hands into his coat pockets. "You two have way too much energy for this early in the morning."

The twins exchanged sheepish glances before bursting into laughter, the earlier tension melting away in the warmth of their unexpected reunion.

The twins froze for a heartbeat before their faces lit up in pure delight. The quarrel over clothes was forgotten instantly as they bolted toward their friends.

"JIMIN!" Taehyung’s shout echoed as he reached him first. Without hesitation, he leapt forward, wrapping his arms tightly around Jimin’s neck, causing Jimin to stumble slightly under the force.

"Whoa, Tae!" Jimin laughed, barely managing to keep his balance as he hugged him back. "Missed me much?"

"Missed you? That’s an understatement!" Taehyung exclaimed, squeezing him tighter.

At the same time, V reached Jungkook, his arms pulling him into a bear hug so tight that Jungkook let out a small grunt. "Hey, take it easy, buddy." Jungkook chuckled, patting his back. "I can’t breathe, man."

"Not my problem." V muttered, his voice muffled against Jungkook’s shoulder.

"We missed you guys." Taehyung said, still clinging to Jimin like a koala. "You guys have no idea how boring it’s been without you!"

Jungkook grinned. "Yeah, yeah, we missed you too."

But before he could say more, Taehyung suddenly sprang off Jimin and launched himself into Jungkook’s arms with childlike enthusiasm. "Kookie!" he yelled, his legs wrapping around Jungkook’s waist like they were five years old again.

Jungkook staggered but managed to hold him up, laughing. "Okay, wow. Tae, you’re heavier in your winter clothes."

Dowoo, who was watching with an amused smirk, raised a hand in mock protest. "Hey, that’s my buddy you’re clinging to."

"Oh, please," Taehyung quipped, throwing a playful glare over his shoulder. "You’ve been hogging him all year."

V rolled his eyes but didn’t argue, his attention shifting back to Jimin. His teasing expression softened as Jimin took a step closer to him, blowing his mind away. As if cherry melted on sweet butter, his cheeks flushed red against his golden skin upon seeing his Dowoo, who was melting right away by just one look.

"Hey," Jimin said softly, his eyes twinkling.

"Hey," V murmured back, his voice dropping a little.

Before he could say anything else, Jimin reached out, hooking a finger on the edge of Dowoo’s collar. He pulled him forward with gentle insistence, closing the gap between them until their lips met.

The kiss was slow but firm, sending Dowoo’s mind spiraling. His eyes widened briefly in shock, but the moment Jimin’s hand slid up to rest on his cheek, he melted into it completely.

Taehyung, still perched on Jungkook, made a dramatic gagging sound. "Oh, come on! You two couldn’t wait for us to leave the room?"

Jungkook chuckled, gently lowering Taehyung back onto the ground. "Let them have their moment, Tae."

V pulled back slightly, his gaze locked on Jimin’s face as if he couldn’t quite believe what just happened.

"I guess you missed me?" Jimin whispered, his lips curving into a shy smile.

V exhaled shakily, his voice barely audible. "I did."

Taehyung faced his boyfriend and whispered, "Okay, great, now that they are all kissy-kissy, can we go eat? I’m starving."

Jungkook slung an arm around Taehyung’s shoulders. "Let’s raid the kitchen. I’m sure your mom has something amazing ready."

And as soon as the two left the room, Jungkook didn't waste a moment before holding and turning Taehyung around to have him pinned against the wall, hands on either side of his waist, bringing a shy grin on Taehyung's face.

"Do you think a mere hug would have quenched all the thirst of this yearning heart?" Jungkook asked in a seductive whisper, bringing a wide smile on Taehyung's lips, causing him to raise his hands and hold Jungkook's face.

"Okay, Mr. Shakespeare, come here." And without further delays, the two started having their lips making their ways into each other, moving together in a sync, soft nibbles and sucks until they turned each other’s lips slightly red but that wasn't a topic to be worried about.

And on the other side, the same situation surrounded the other couple left in the room which slightly grew louder for the couple standing outside to hear.

"They really just don't care." Taehyung whispered after pulling away and Jungkook with slight intoxication of his essence just didn't want to pull away, "nor do I." He whispered, trying to close the gap again but Taehyung giggled, pushing him away.

"I thought you were hungry?"

"I am." Jungkook said in his defence, squeezing the sides of his boyfriend’s waist but Taehyung was successful in bringing him out of his hold.

"Okay let's really go downstairs?" Saying this Taehyung decided to drag his boyfriend to the stairs.

The other side, V leaned his forehead against Jimin’s, smiling. "You really know how to blow my mind, don’t you?"

Jimin grinned. "I tried."

"You succeed."

The smell of freshly baked bread and lingering hot chocolate greeted them as Taehyung and Jungkook bounded into the kitchen, their laughter filling the space. Mrs. Kim, mid-sip from her mug, looked up at them with a fond smile.

"Hungry already?" she teased, setting her cup down.

"Starving!" Taehyung declared, flopping dramatically onto a stool by the counter. "Do we have anything special, or do I need to survive on leftovers?"

Mrs. Kim chuckled, opening the fridge. "I made some kimchi stew last night. Should I heat it up for you boys?"

"Please!" Jungkook chimed in, pulling a stool next to Taehyung. "I’d kill for some homemade food right now."

As Mrs. Kim busied herself with the stew, Taehyung leaned closer to Jungkook, nudging him with his elbow. "So," he said, waggling his eyebrows, "what do you think of my dramatic jump? Top-notch or what?"

"Honestly?" Jungkook smirked. "A solid nine out of ten. You lost a point for almost breaking my back."

Taehyung gasped, clutching his chest. "I’m wounded, Jungkook. Wounded."

"Keep up the dramatics, and I’ll drop it to an eight," Jungkook teased, earning a dramatic groan from Taehyung.

Meanwhile, V and Jimin walked in, their hands just brushing at their sides—casual enough not to raise suspicion, but enough to spark a quiet thrill between them. V glanced at Jimin, his lips twitching into a small smile, but quickly schooled his expression as his mother looked up.

"This kitchen never changes," Jimin said warmly, inhaling the familiar scents of home. "It’s as cozy as ever."

"Kind of like us, huh?" V murmured under his breath, leaning slightly toward him.

"Excuse me?" Mrs. Kim’s voice cut through the moment as she placed bowls on the table, making both Jimin and V stiffen.

"Oh! Uh, I said it smells amazing, eomma." V recovered quickly, flashing her an innocent grin.

Mrs. Kim raised an eyebrow but didn’t press further. "You boys always get so chatty around the holidays," she commented with a fond smile, turning back to her task.

Taehyung, overhearing, leaned back in his stool with an exaggerated eye roll. "Oh, please. V and Jimin are the least chatty people ever. If they’re talking, it’s because they’re plotting something."

"Jealous much?" V shot back, his voice laced with humor.

"Nope!" Taehyung quipped, pointing at Jungkook. "I’ve got my buddy here. Who needs plotting when you’ve got a bromance?"

Jungkook chuckled at his boyfriend’s antics but decided to play along, throwing an arm around Taehyung’s shoulders. "Don’t worry, Tae. I’ll always be your backup."

"Thank you." Taehyung said with exaggerated gratitude.

V rolled his eyes but couldn’t help sneaking a quick glance at Jimin, whose cheeks had turned slightly pink. The two exchanged the smallest of smiles before V moved to help his mom with the stew.

As lunch wrapped up and plans for the afternoon took shape, Jimin and V found a quiet moment by the sink while pretending to wash dishes.

"Think they’re suspicious?" Jimin asked softly, glancing over his shoulder at the others.

"Nah," V replied, a small smirk tugging at his lips. "We’re too good at this."

"Hmm." Jimin gave him a sly look. "That little ‘cozy like us’ line almost got you caught."

"Almost," V admitted, leaning slightly closer under the guise of reaching for a towel. His voice dropped lower. "But seeing you blush was worth it."

Jimin rolled his eyes but couldn’t suppress the small smile on his lips.

From across the kitchen, Taehyung suddenly called out, "Hey, Dowoo! Stop flirting with the dishes and let’s go already!"

V froze for half a second before casually tossing the towel aside. "I’m coming. Don’t break your neck, Tae." He said with a hidden sense of warning but Taehyung really didn't care.

As the group filed out of the kitchen, Mrs. Kim narrowed her eyes slightly at her youngest. "Flirting with dishes?" she murmured to herself, glancing at the two pairs walking out together.

But she went back to what she was doing, barely caring about any of her boys’ statements.

~♡~

The group then decided to walk down the snow-dusted streets of Daegu, the city glowing with Christmas lights strung across buildings and trees. The festive atmosphere buzzed with energy, the faint sound of carolers in the distance and the aroma of street food filling the air.

Taehyung, as usual, was leading the charge, pointing out every little thing to Jungkook like a hyper tour guide. "And over there is where I used to buy my favorite tteokbokki. Oh! And that shop—" he gasped dramatically, grabbing Jungkook’s arm, "that’s where V got his dumb scarf he never stops wearing!"

"Hey, it’s not dumb!" V protested from behind.

"It’s a little dumb." Jimin added with a playful grin, earning a mock glare from Dowoo who let go of Jimin's hand from his grip which caused Jimin to quickly aim for that hand even after V’s attempt to not hold back.

Jungkook chuckled, shaking his head at the twins' banter. "You guys really are inseparables."

"Pfft, please," Taehyung said, waving his hand dismissively. "Dowoo’s too boring to handle me."

"Good thing I’m not trying," V shot back smoothly, his attention shifting subtly to Jimin who was clinging to his tall and jacked boyfriend who seemed extra hot during holidays.

Jimin’s lips twitched into a small smile at the thought, but he quickly hid it, pretending to admire a nearby display of lights.

As they approached a food stall selling hotteok, Taehyung’s eyes lit up. "Oh my God, we have to stop here!" He grabbed Jungkook’s wrist, dragging him to the stall before anyone could object.

V seized the moment, leaning toward Jimin and whispering, "Finally, some peace."

"Peace?" Jimin whispered back, his tone teasing. "You’re the one who keeps starting things."

"Me?" Dowoo’s eyes widened in mock innocence. "I’d never."

"Oh really?" As Jimin teased, V pulled his hand again.

"Go chase your bestie, I ain't your anyone." V sounded upset but Jimin couldn't help but melt over his boyfriend’s childish side which is a rare sight to see.

Jimin shook his head, biting back a laugh. He nudged Dowoo’s arm gently with his elbow.

"Where do you think you're going Mr. Anyone? Don't you want to hold my hand anymore." Jimin asked, trying to hold his boyfriend’s hand who slid his hands into his pockets instead, pretending to ignore his cute boyfriend who held V’s biceps instead, gently squeezing it.

"When am I going to feel it bare?" Jimin whispered, referring to that thick muscle he was holding and V tried to suppress his smile but blushed instead.

"Fuck, give me your hand instead." V took Jimin's tiny hand into his hand, fisting it and hiding it in his pocket, letting Jimin smile.

"So you can't stay mad for longer?" Jimin teased.

"You’re lucky you’re cute."

Jimin’s smile grew, but before he could reply, Taehyung turned around, holding two steaming hotteoks. "Jungkook says he’s paying, so I’m eating twice as much!"

"Of course you are." V said dryly, stepping back into his usual nonchalant stance.

Jungkook handed Taehyung some napkins, looking over at V and Jimin. "Here, it's yours."

"Thanks, Jungkook." Jimin answered quickly, taking it with his free hand, glancing at Dowoo, who smiled at him with admiration.

As they continued walking while enjoying their hotteok, Taehyung kept the conversation flowing with his usual antics, giving V and Jimin little pockets of time to exchange glances and sneaky smiles.

Soon they finished their snacks and reached a park lit up with fairy lights, Taehyung and Jungkook rushed ahead to explore a row of snow-covered statues.

"Perfect," V murmured, taking Jimin’s hand and pulling him slightly to the side, behind a large, decorated tree.

"Dowoo! There are people." Jimin hissed, glancing around nervously.

"No one cares." V interrupted softly, his voice steady. "And Tae’s too busy dragging Jungkook into his chaos to notice us."

Jimin opened his mouth to argue, but Dowoo’s gaze was too warm, too inviting. He gave in, his shoulders relaxing as V stepped closer, the twinkling lights casting a soft glow over them.

"You’re impossible, you know that?" Jimin whispered, his lips curving into a small smile.

"Maybe," V admitted, brushing a strand of hair from Jimin’s forehead. "But you love me anyway."

Before Jimin could reply, V leaned down and kissed him—a quick but heartfelt press of lips that left Jimin breathless.

"Hey!" Taehyung’s voice suddenly rang out, making them both jump apart.

They peeked around the tree to see Taehyung pointing at Jungkook. "Stop being taller than me in all the photos, Kook! Stand in the snow or something!"

Jungkook groaned, stepping aside to humor him.

V let out a quiet laugh, his hand brushing Jimin’s briefly. "Saved by the drama king."

"Kookie, I'm serious about the pictures," Taehyung whined as Jungkook lowered his phone, simply staring at his boyfriend, lost in a trance.

"Kookie, now suggest some poses. Should I do this?" Taehyung asked, striking a pose, but Jungkook couldn’t tear his eyes away from him.

"Kookie?" Taehyung called again, his voice tinged with curiosity. But Jungkook remained captivated, his gaze locked on Taehyung’s eyes. Taehyung finally caught on to what Jungkook was up to as he noticed the space between them slowly closing in the snow-covered park.

"Kookie, what’s with that—" Taehyung began, but his words were cut short as Jungkook grabbed him by the waist, pulling him closer.

"Oh, you talk too much," Jungkook murmured before silencing him with a sudden kiss. The unexpected gesture left Taehyung momentarily stunned, but he quickly melted into it, his hands instinctively reaching for Jungkook’s shoulders.

Not far away, V and Jimin watched the scene unfold, admiring how the couple had nothing to hide from each other or the world around them.

As if the kiss wasn’t enough, Jungkook lifted Taehyung off the ground, prompting him to wrap his legs around Jungkook’s waist as their kiss deepened into a passionate make-out session beneath a mistletoe.

V turned his back to give them privacy, a small smile tugging at his lips. Jimin, holding onto V’s arm, nudged him and pointed at the mistletoe above their own heads, hanging from the twinkling lights that adorned the park.

V chuckled, stepping closer to Jimin, the snow crunching softly under his boots. "You're lucky I don’t need mistletoes to kiss you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper as he leaned in.

Jimin’s breath hitched, his eyes fluttering shut as V’s lips captured his lips in a slow, tender kiss. The world around them seemed to vanish, leaving only the quiet hum of their hearts beating in sync.

Meanwhile, Jungkook and Taehyung broke apart, their breaths mingling in the cold air, their cheeks flushed from both the kiss and the chilly weather. Taehyung rested his forehead against Jungkook’s, a soft smile playing on his lips.

"You’re impossible," Taehyung murmured, his voice filled with affection and Jungkook let him be on the ground again, still wrapping each other.

"And you’re irresistible," Jungkook countered with a grin, earning a light shove on his chest from Taehyung, who couldn’t hide his shy smile.

As they turned to rejoin V and Jimin, they found the other pair still lost in their own world, lips locked in a kiss under their mistletoe.

Jungkook smirked, nudging Taehyung. "Guess we’re not the only ones enjoying the festive spirit."

Taehyung chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around Jungkook's neck. Jungkook leaned in closer to playfully bite Taehyung's red, winter-chilled nose, prompting Taehyung to push his boyfriend away into the snow. Grinning mischievously, he grabbed a handful of snow and hurled it at Jungkook, catching him off guard but ready to retaliate.

Jungkook quickly sprang to his feet, chasing after Taehyung. He grabbed him from behind, tackled him down into the snow, and showered him with handfuls of it as Taehyung's laughter filled the crisp winter air.

The fun didn’t stop there. Taehyung got up, determined, and began gathering snowballs to pelt at Jungkook, who eagerly did the same. Amid the chaos, a stray snowball hit V square in the back, disrupting the kiss he was sharing with Jimin.

Realizing what was going on, V and Jimin exchanged amused glances before jumping into the fray, rushing to defend their respective besties. What started as a playful couple’s quarrel quickly turned into a four-person snowball fight, with the pairs of best friends going head-to-head in a flurry of laughter and icy projectiles.

The snowball fight escalated, with all four of them dodging, throwing, and laughing uncontrollably. Taehyung managed to duck behind a tree, motioning for Jimin to join him as they formed an alliance.

"Cover me!" Taehyung whispered, crouching down to roll another snowball.

Jimin nodded, stepping out bravely to distract Jungkook and V by launching a rapid volley of snowballs their way. "Take this!" he shouted, laughing as one landed on Jungkook’s chest.

"You’re so done for that, Jimin-ah!" Jungkook yelled back, charging toward him.

But before he could reach him, Taehyung sprang out from his hiding spot and tackled Jungkook into the snow. The two rolled over each other, snow flying everywhere, while V used the opportunity to grab Jimin around the waist and spin him into the air.

"Traitor!" V teased, setting Jimin down only to ruffle snow into his hair.

Jimin shrieked in protest, grabbing V’s scarf and pulling him down. "If I’m going down, you’re going with me!" he laughed, their faces inches apart.

Meanwhile, Jungkook had managed to pin Taehyung to the ground, both of them breathless and rosy-cheeked. "You’re mine now," Jungkook said smugly, smearing a handful of snow on Taehyung’s cheek.

Taehyung squirmed under him, laughing too hard to fight back properly. "I surrender! Stop, it’s cold!"

Hearing this, V and Jimin paused their own playfight, looking over at the pair. Jimin grinned mischievously and called out, "V, let’s team up and take them both down!"

V’s eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, it’s on!"

Before Jungkook and Taehyung could react, V and Jimin were upon them, burying them in a flurry of snowballs. The four of them ended up in a tangled heap, laughing so hard that their sides hurt.

As the laughter finally subsided, they lay sprawled in the snow, their breaths visible in the chilly air. The world around them was quiet, except for their happy sighs.

"This," Taehyung said, gazing up at the sky, "is exactly how winter should feel."

"Agreed," Jungkook said, reaching out to grab Taehyung’s hand, his fingers laced with snow but warm in the moment.

V smiled, pulling Jimin closer and whispering, "Let’s make this a tradition."

Jimin nodded, resting his head on V’s shoulder, his heart full. "Every year, no matter what."

The four of them eventually gathered, the park lights twinkling around them, casting a magical glow over their little winter haven. Together, they shared stories, laughter, and the kind of warmth that only love and friendship could bring, despite the biting cold of the snowy night.

~♡~

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the snow-covered ground, the four of them walked back home, their laughter and chatter filling the crisp evening air. Jungkook and Taehyung held hands, fingers intertwined, while V and Jimin walked closely behind, their hands clasped together warmly.

The porch light flickered on as they approached the house, illuminating their rosy cheeks and snow-dusted hair. The twins' mother stood at the window, her gaze soft as she watched them approach. Her heart warmed at the sight of her boys and their friends so happy together.

But then, something caught her eye. Just as they reached the porch steps, Jungkook tugged Taehyung’s hand, pulling him slightly behind the others. With a mischievous glint in his eye, he leaned in and pressed a quick, chaste kiss on Taehyung’s lips.

The timing couldn’t have been worse. The door creaked open just as Jungkook pulled away, revealing their mother standing there, her arms crossed and her eyebrows raised high in surprise. Her once-soft expression turned stern and unamused.

She didn't say a word but only started.

All four of them froze in place, their smiles vanishing as their blood ran cold. Taehyung’s eyes widened in panic, and he quickly stepped forward, releasing Jungkook’s hand as if that would undo everything. "Uh, Mom, it’s not—"

"Don’t," she interrupted, holding up a hand. "Don’t even try." Her gaze flicked between Jungkook and Taehyung, her expression unreadable but undeniably intimidating.

Jimin, clutching V’s hand tightly out of fear, noticed how V let go of his hand before they got noticed, Jimin didn't know why but it sort of didn't sit right. He looked like he wanted to sink into the ground.

"Mom," Taehyung cut in nervously, his voice shaky but sincere, "it’s not what it looks like. It was just… a quick—um…" He trailed off, unable to find the right words.

Their mother sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "All four of you, inside. Now."

"We need to talk."

And all four of them were not prepared for it.
