(finally wanna get into the habit of incorporating my header into my welcome sentence, like I do with the "navaer" thingy)

So this time around I have a really really REALLY old OC for y'all. He used to be called Damon, then he was called Daemon and then I forgot how to write, so he was also unintentionally called Demon for a while. But I finally gave him a proper name (which I constantly forget, so he will always be my demon-child): Dûrbenn.

So why did I have the sudden urge to draw this kid again? Well... some may know the piece "Sun & Moon" I started redrawing every year since 2015/16.
And essentially we have Dûrbenn on the one side and... >>looks at scribble on hand<< ... Annabell? Sunshine? Crystal? (halp, which one is the last version??) ...
Anyways we have these two lovers on either side of some weird magical border thingy. Essentially just an odd illustration to the book "Sun and Moon - War for Union" I was writing when starting this redraw thing... at the moment I'm working on readapting the thing into Mesoria, since I crossed the entire "11 parallel universes" thingy from the timeline...

Anyways here's how that's coming along:

And since I wasn't too sure how Dûrbenn now should look, I went ahead and drew him a normal ref-portrait like I love to do.
The best thing is, that I suddenly had the chance to completely redesign him, since I wasn't able to give faces different features and personalities in the years before this. Especially male ones. So I essentially only had a rough pallete and an old idea that is not even really applicable anymore.

So here are the halves from the last two years. In 2017 I haven't even finished the drawing and in the very first immage...... well that firstly doesn't have colour and secondly is just so cringey, that I will only show that in the chapter for the full redraw.

So my main idea was, to keep the hella pale skin, but get rid of that blue hair, since I'm out of that phase of fantastical haircolours for quite some time. In like... dyed hair is still cool with me and all that, but no more naturally blue or green hair for me.

So instead I went for this blue-toned black/grey haircolour and reworked his tattoos, since..... well they were just bad design choices.

So. Dûrbenn is this really serious and overall ambitious person, who is also quite successful. He's also pretty harsh and unfunny, but once you get to know him better, you realise that he's actually a real softy inside.
But he did indeed have a hard time, since he was always "different" to most people from his tribe. That simply was because he has 90% ancient-magical genetics. He is thus nearly the reincarnation of Xa'kneis, ancient god of light. Which sucks, since his tribe is dedicated to the moon and darkness, lives underground and only leaves the safe darkness of caves to move from island to island (and all that also only happens at night).

So he was pretty quickly labelled a "misfit" and his success was the only thing that kept him in the tribe. But he obviously isn't flawless, so as soon as he did a mistake, he was kicked out. He more or less directly landed with the opposite clan of the sun. And because of the ancient-magical DNA he pretty quickly looked like one of them.
And because he finally could be himself there, he blossomed and met.... that girl... who is on the other side of the picture... they get along great and fall in love and all that cringy story I invented when I was 11 or 12.
Well the sun and moon tribe are at war, so when the couple gets taken prisoner and Dûrbenns appearance morphes back to the looks he was born with... we have a lot of drama going on... but more about that in the actual redraw-chapter.

(and... yeah... Ima explain the differences between magical DNA and ancient-magical DNA sometime else...)

So other than his portrait I also planned his clothing on the moon-side and did another one of those layer-things. Man I love them so so much QwQ

Overall... a lot of dark colours ad blue. He is indeed part of the army, but his armour is more symbolism and decoration rather than proper protection, since he is a distance-mage. Ther also should be some degree of cover, since they have it quite cold over there...

I had hella fun designing his clothes, since they are different to the southern ones, even if one might not see it so obviously >w<"
