Suilad my tricksy Hobbitses!

Yeah.... english this timearound ... you guys will survive xDD (If you should have language problems tho, I'll gladly help translate stuffs ^-^)

Anyways... For the first time in like... forever... I decided to participate in a contest AND actually finish the drawing for it. Crazy, I know, right?!

But I mean, the theme set by _Music-Is-Art_ and his/her/their co-judge acryliptic was to great to not just draw something... (this should be the point in time, where I tell you guys the theme right? Right...)

So yeah. It was:

𝒮𝒯𝒴𝐿𝐸    𝐼𝑀𝐼𝒯𝒜𝒯𝐼𝒪𝒩

fancy, huh? The rules were described as following:

You can draw any character (OC/movie character/book character/etc.) but you have to imitate another movie/show/art style.

So I, being an official OC-horder with in like.. 300+ of them, had to obviousy draw one of my children... and beause I'm a fangirling dumbass who finally has the chance to try and copy their favourite artist's artystle with a valid excuse to do so, I chose to draw:

My OC Glamarphen (AKA: Phen) in the art style of Ron Koza.

So why Phen? I actually wanted to draw Ru... because I always draw Ru and Ru is my favourite.... BUTT then I thought that his brother would be the better choice, since his design was overall inspired a lot by the art of Ron Koza (... since typing out "Ron Koza" everytime is pretty long and I feel too unhonoured to just type "Ron" I'll just proceed to call him "Senpai" from now on).

So here we have some pictures I drew of Phen, in a handy dandy collage, because I can do those:

And then there is obviously this pic of him, where I cleaned up that one sketch from up there and drew him without his fancy shmancy beard, that I totally failed to line >w<"

And if I wouldn't be such a lazy potato he'd already have a crazy long chapter somewhere at the beginning of the august-section that tells his backstory and character traits n stuff...... but I'm a lazy potato, so that'll have to wait for now ^-^"

So without further ado, let's get to the drawing then, eh?

First scribbly sketch right there. I originally wanted to draw him in his other work clothing, which is why the shirt is existent. But as you hopefully can still remember, back from the old days of me having five WIP's for every chapter, the first scribble sketch is jut a rough guide.

So as usual I stared at Senpai's art for 15 minutes, but this time not to gather inspiration and/or motivation, but to see how he does stuff.
The good man shows quite some sketches in his instagram and I have been using his art as a ton of inspiration lately anyways, so I was pretty familiar with some of the things he does.
AND THANK THE HOLY COTTON BUD he sometimes draws dudes without shirts, so I could see how he draws the torso.
Anyways. Very fun. Probably the funnest part of the drawing xD

So then I flippedy flipped the canvas and found, that not only does it look pretty darn good, the expression even looks better! ..... I just flipped the entire drawing from then on and continued to work that way around >w<

This was also the point at which I realised, that good 'ol Senpai doesn't use black to "line" his artworks. Nonono. The fancy pants uses a cold brown. So I used a cold brown too, because in this drawing I wanna draw like him.

That actually would've been the time where I should have added a hand and a pair of trousers as planned...

But I am and always will be a lazy potato, so I just threw some colour in there ^-^
Colouring was overall great fun. Especially since Senpai tested out quite the amount of clothing in the colour scheme I imagined for my Fireforgean OC's, so I had a rough clue what kind of colours he'd use  for clothing.
The skin was a bit tricky, since he uses very warm and more saturated tones, other than me and my more grey colours. So........... ...... .   ....  ... . ... .  .     ..   .               >>forgets what I wanted to say<<

So I just did something with the skin? Dunno... it was interesting to fins something that still matched his skin colour, without looking to not-Senpai.

The eyes were fun too, because I use slit pupils in my art, even if the characters canonically don't have them. Senpai doesn't do that. So I had to look up tutorials on how to draw pupils, which was kinda embarrassing and stupid at the same time.

So those were the flats.... I then started to shade the entire thing, because I was 𝒾𝓃  𝓉𝒽𝑒  𝒻𝓁𝑜𝓌 until I realised that the Krita file was absolutely massive and I still didn't draw the hand and the trousers.

I continued to neglect the drawing for another day, until I returned today, to finish it up. I happily drew the hand (it was a struggle.... a real fight guys... never drew that detailed a hand in my entire life) and then fought my way through the trousers, with the help of Mith that she gave me the day before.

AND THEN SOMETHING HAPPENED THAT EVOKED THE FOLLOWING REACTION OF ME ON DISCORD:

And that up there in the fancy font is a visualisation of the angry, demonic screeching I am bothering the neighbours with.

ANYWAYS, now that the hand (still angry... took me an entire hour... AN ENTIRE HOUR FOR A GOSHDARN HAND THAT I LOST ANYWAYSJEFBDAJC...) and the trousers were gone, and my stone age laptop couldn't really handle my frustration and Krita at the same time (I couldn't draw a proper line anymore without the program just crashing on me again....)...

I gave up and can now proudly present to you the finished piece, that actually isn't finished but I just gave up on:

I still can't cope wiht the fact that I supposedly drew that face, so here's a closeup again:

Overall I loved drawing this. It was great fun and I enjoyed ever bit of it ^-^
(Look at me successfully neglecting the PAINFUL LOSS I experienced... so proud of myself)

I also learned quite a bit in shading things, because Senpai just uses the blush to add rough shading and then just adds a few details in later on... and of course his was to draw/line things is extremely helpful on that front too.... I'm proably gonna steal some of the things I learnt >w<"
And.... male characters with defined lips. I can't do those. I try and fail, but I can't. Well... now I can... and that makes me happy :D

Eventhough I think, that the hair I drew was a bit too messy for Senpai's style, and I think the clothing still is a bit too "Psy" I think I did a pretty god job, being as unworthy of trying this, as I am.
And I still can't get over that face. Look at my baby! LOOK AT HIM!
