Harry was not really someone who was late to work and he would never because he loved being an auror, but everything turned upside down when he got partnered with Lestrange to catch a death eater. He let out a loud sigh before opening  his office door and visibly relaxed when he saw that she was not here, yet.

"You're late Potter."  "Morning , Lestrange."

He turned around to look at her but she probably was a bit fast at it since their faces were just an inch apart and if someone were to come barging in,this would seem like something else. "You do know time is precious, don't you?" she snapped at him. Harry would normally come back with something sassy but with her so close all he could concentrate on was her lips. She too was probably concentrating on something because she had suddenly stopped ranting. "What's that?" she whispered before passing behind him and walking towards the glass window. Harry felt like he had stopped breathing moments before.

She got hold of the ministry owl, which was carrying a letter and then let it fly away. She read the letter out loud, 

"Auror Potter, we have received information about the movements of death eater; Scabior who currently is somewhere near the Leaky cauldron. Report immediately.

                                                                                                              Head of auror department"

They both looked at each other before making a run for the door. Y/n who had the idea of flooing out to the Leaky cauldron was met with a surprise when Harry threw his arm around around her shoulder and apparating. She had to hold herself to the ground before screaming at Harry "The fuck were you thinking Potter?! You scared the shit out of me!! And how on earth did you possibly apparate with all the restraints around?" He replied"later." before grabbing his wand and making his way to the dingy enterance of the Leaky cauldron. 

"Oh yeah! it's totally normal for you to fucking apparate and then say-" "I SAID LATER, LESTRANGE!!"

She let out an annoyed shriek before banging into the door and was thrown to the floor by a very powerful stupefying jinx. She looked up to see Harry who was on the floor too and the customers either flooing away or running behind tables. "Scabior you son of a-" Harry screamed and grabbed his wand to hex him but stopped when the death eater had caught hold of Y/n.

"You kill me? I kill her." He threatened pointing his wand straight at Y/n's neck.

"Oh go on , it's not like I care anyway-" "I'm gonna fucking kill you Potter!!!" 

Scabior was about to hex them, but was hit by a mix of jinxes and was throw to the floor, Harry looked behind to see Tonks and several other aurors. "Wotcher Harry," Tonks grinned. And it seemed like Scabior was not the only death eater but another seven of them were there too. The room burst out with spells and jinxes shot out of wands. It was an absolute chaotic situation.

"stupefy-ahh" "difindo!!!" " Relashio!!" "Avada Kedavra!" " Expelliarmus"

Harry had successfully aimed bat bogey hexes at two unknown death eaters and ducked down from a Imperius curse- "Incarcerous!" y/n aimed it right at the death eater as he fell down bundled up in a rope.  

And by the time he had recovered from the shock that y/n had just saved his life, all the death eaters were down on the floor groaning.

An hour later, the aurors had sat down on the tables either being treated by healers or having conversations with the wizards and witches from other departments. Harry was searching for Y/n who had disappeared from the room, he silently made his way to the bathroom to check if she was there and she was but something was wrong. Her eyes were bloodshot and the gash on her cheek was still not treated and her voice was somewhat different. Has she been crying?

Y/n had apparently seen him since she tried walking away from him but the firm grip on her wrist stopped her.

"what's wrong?" his voice was soft and was somewhat...  caring?

"nothing is. Let go, Potter"

 "no I won't"

she glared at him hoping he would walk away but his demeanor did not change. 

"I know I'm not great with dealing other people's emotions but I can surely say something is bothering you" he said. She was about to retort but there was a knock at the door and there was a muffled voice asking them both to come down to have a word with the head of the Auror department.

Sighing, he let her go before following her. She really had mastered controlling her emotions because no one suspected anything. After a brief talk with the Head and then receiving appreciation from the head of other departments, everyone made their way back to the Ministry. Everyone was happy that they had been able to successfully capture the death eaters but y/n had her head down low and was really quite, he was about to talk to her when their head of the department came in with the news that they could either continue working partnered up or work alone and the choice was up to them.

"so, would you like to work partnered up?" 

"yes" Harry said. "no." Y/n said.

their head auror looked at them confused and was about to say something when y/n said "alright! I'll work partnered up" but it was more like a frustrated answer.

"Great then! I'll give both of you further details later. And you may go home early since you look exhausted." the man gave a smile before going back to his office.

Awkward. It really was. Both of them simultaneously spoke up "Potter-" "Lestrange-"

"look before you say something, sorry and thank you. thanks for saving my life." Harry said impatiently.

"sorry?" y/n asked uncertainty.

"yeah um sorry for um, you know, invading your privacy" he replied.

She looked taken aback but quickly shook it up and said "it's fine but if you do it again, I'm hexing you straight to Hogwarts, anyway goodbye I'm going home." 

Just as she was about to grab hold of the door knob, 

"Y/n you wanna go out with me?" 

did he just call her by her first name?

Harry's eyes widened immediately realising what he had said. "I m- mean , Lestrange wanna go out for a cup of coffee?  you don't have to but since we're partnered up- I mean I'm not just asking because of that I'm going anyway but it's -"

"alright Har- I mean Potter." she said 

"brilliant!After you" he said before following her and little did she know he was grinning like an idiot.
