Ch.3 || Buddy

Taehyung practically shook in his seat as the bus turned into the hospital's parking lot. Jimin was slightly annoyed as Taehyung's bouncing vibrated their shared seat but he kept quiet since they were about to get off.
Jimin looked outside the window, observing the hospital. It was beautiful and well taken care of. The white walls on the outside weren't super dirty and the hospital looked nothing like the ones he's seen in the horror movies he's watched with Taehyung, yet the longer Jimin stared at the hospital, the more he got an eerie feeling from it. He was almost scared to go in and he blamed it on everything he learned in psychology. Jimin decided not to dwell on his fear much longer and tried to feel the excitement his best friend was feeling. So he mustered up the best smile he could as Mr. Joon lined him and the rest of his classmates up, outside the bus.
"Alright guys, I just want to lay down some rules before we go in. Listen, your buddies are real mentally unstable people. They aren't just actors to show you what it's like working around these kids, they are actual patients who suffer from mental illnesses just like the ones we learned in class. So you guys need to be careful but also respectful, some of them can be really sensitive and we won't be able to come here for the program anymore if you guys are being rude or purposefully starting problems. Let's just enjoy ourselves and possibly make some new friends." Jimin, Taehyung, and the rest of their classmates nodded after hearing Mr.Joon's little lecture. Mr. Joon smiled and led the class to the front glass doors of the hospital and into the lobby. Jimin was surprised to see that the inside was just as nice as the outside. Pure white couches, fancy glass coffee tables. The front desks looked like they belonged in a five-star hotel.
"Do all psychiatric hospitals look like this?" Jimin leaned over to ask Taehyung, who shrugged, as he was in awe at how fancy the room was. Still observing the room, Taehyung spoke.
"I doubt it. I read up on this place and saw that the head doctor actually redesigned the whole hospital ten years ago. In the article, the doctor said that he couldn't work in a tasteless environment. So I guess he wanted it to look like a fancy hotel." Jimin listened as the class stood by Mr.Joon who was at one of the desks.
"I was kinda looking forward to a creepy hospital but whatever." Taehyung mumbled from beside Jimin who rose a brow at him. Jimin was more than grateful that the hospital didn't look horrifying and haunted.
Suddenly Jimin heard a roar of gasps come from many of his female classmates so he looked to see what the cause was. A young-looking man in a white coat strode toward the class with a smile on his face as he put his hand out for Mr. Joon to shake.
"Hello, I'm Doctor Kim Seokjin, but please do call me Doctor Jin since we have a lot of Doctor Kims working here." The doctor was very polite but Jimin could see why the girls in his class were practically drooling. He was handsome and Jimin was confused as to why he envied his looks. Jimin liked to think he was quite confident in his looks despite never having a girl say so or confess to him. Jimin was suddenly pulled from his thoughts by Taehyung slapping his arm rapidly.
"That's him! That's the main doctor of the hospital!" Taehyung whispered excitedly in Jimin's ear who was rubbing his slightly red arm from Taehyung's abuse.
"I hope you all are excited to meet my patients. They have no clue you guys are here today and I think it'd be a nice surprise for them." The class nodded and some of them voiced their eagerness like Taehyung.
"So, here's how it's going to go. Your teacher Mr. Kim is going to follow me and lead all of you to the cafeteria in Ward B. Patients will be sat across one side of the tables while you'll take a seat on the other side once you are directed to your buddy. You won't be doing any tutoring today, just getting to know each other. Now follow me as I welcome you to the BOMIP program." Taehyung sprinted right behind Mr.Joon before Jimin could catch up so he decided to stay in the back.
Once everyone made it to the cafeteria students were being seated across their buddies. Jimin watched as Mr.Joon turned around to find Taehyung to be the first person behind him and pointed out his buddy. A nurse then called out Jimin's name, distracting him.
"Park Jimin?"

"Y/N, please follow me to the cafeteria, you have a visitor." Karen said as she poked her head in through your door. You didn't believe her at first but after getting a few of her glares as she waited on you, you realized she was telling the truth. You threw your white sweatshirt over your tank top and subtly waved to Lou as you left your room.
You pondered silently while you walked down the hall with Karen. Who would be visiting you? The first person that came to mind was your brother. But why? After all these years, now he would decide to visit you? Even after all you had done, what he had seen? You didn't even know how to feel. Maybe it was rage that you felt, tingling in your palms and down to your fingertips. After all, he was the one who called the police. This led to the police notifying your grandparents who then sent you to this hell hole. How could you be happy your brother is visiting you when he's the reason why you're here? Maybe he finally understood why you killed your parents. Maybe he finally realized the horrors you were trying to protect him from. It was either kill or be killed. You were only doing what was right. Lou said so. After what his father did to him, how could you allow your parents to do something like that to you or your older brother?
You let a small smile form on your face as you thought of your brother on his knees begging for your forgiveness. The thought of him thanking you for protecting him made your heart swell with glee. But then again, what if that's not why he was here? Maybe he was here to cry and yell at you again. To ask you why you did such a thing to your loving parents. Maybe he would ask you if you ever loved your parents at all. Of course, you loved your parents and you still do. Killing them could never change that. You didn't kill them because you hated them. You killed them because you loved them, because if they hurt you like Daichi hurt Lou then you would've ended up hating your parents. You didn't want to hate them, not after all those years of love and affection they had given you. Lou told you how he felt after his father murdered him, he told you that if you had let your parents live any longer then they would kill you and you hate them too.
You didn't want that.
Maybe your brother understands.
When you walked into the cafeteria, which actually smelled clean for once, you noticed many other patients, causing you to be confused. Karen directed you to a seat at a table that had other tables pushed together to make it look longer. You weren't sitting for very long before you saw Jungkook waddle into the cafeteria and smile at you. He was about to sit next to you when Sarah, another nurse, told him about assigned seating. This put you off and made you slightly uncomfortable. You couldn't understand why there needed to be assigned seating, but you've never had a visitor before so maybe this is how it goes.
Karen stood in front of you and all of the patients as she addressed what was going on.
"Today, you all will have visitors from SOPA, a performing arts high school, who are in the hospital's new program BOMIP. BOMIP is a program where teen patients like you get a look into high school education. You will be taught and tutored by your assigned buddy from SOPA's psychology class. Don't be scared, they are all friendly and they want to get to know you. If they're being nice, then you should be nice too." Fuck that. You didn't sign up for that. Weren't programs like those supposed to be voluntary? You didn't volunteer for shit. You stood up from your seat and began to leave the cafeteria. Unfortunately, Karen's voice stopped you.
"Y/N, please sit down. You don't want to go into the black box again, do you?" You shivered at the thought of going to that dark room. That's where the voices were worse and Lou was too scared to ever show up while you were in there. So you glared hatefully at Karen as you slumped back down into your seat, folded your arms, and flopped your head on top of them. You wouldn't want to admit it but you were slightly disappointed that your brother wasn't visiting you. You wouldn't feel as crazy if you saw someone familiar or real.
It wasn't too long before you heard a bunch of shuffles and whispers as people entered the cafeteria. You tried to block out the sounds as they started to become agitating to you. You then heard Karen's annoying voice and clenched your fists in anger. Her voice could really set you off sometimes.
"Park Jimin?"
"Uh... that's me."
"Your buddy is just this way." The click of Karen's heels got louder as she walked and you could tell that it meant she was getting closer to you.
"Park Jimin this is Kim Y/N. This paper tells you a little about her but try asking her what you want to know first before looking at the paper." Karen's heels clicked off and that meant she was gone. You could feel Jimin staring at you which kind of pissed you off a little bit.
"Um, are you asleep?" His voice was lighter than most males. At least lighter than the males you heard speak at this damned hospital. You were just glad it didn't make you feel uneasy. Deeper voices tend to remind you of Daichi. The only deep voice that could never bother you was your brother's.
You were curious about what Jimin looked like. Ever since you were a child it was hard to tame your curiosity. Once your curiosity hit you, you had to satisfy it. So you looked up. You were pleasantly surprised upon seeing that he had a babyface, something you tended to be more comfortable around. Even though you don't like people.
Jimin's eyes widened when he saw that you were actually awake but he then shifted uncomfortably as you glared at him. You didn't like the way he reacted to you.
"So, how old are you? I'm eighteen." Jimin said softly, hoping to make your glare go away. Unfortunately, it stayed and you didn't answer him. He sighed, defeated, and decided to flip over the paper the nurse gave him. Before he could though, you snatched the paper away.
"Seventeen." You handed the paperback and waited for his next question.
"Do you like to dance?" You yawned at the boring question and shrugged. He just nodded, then thought of another one.
"How old were you when you first got here?" You didn't really want to answer any of his questions but it was different talking to someone who wasn't crazy or a worker at the hospital. It made you want to pretend you weren't stuck here. You could think of any place you wanted to be at because you were talking to someone who had the ability to go to that place.
"What's high school like?" You asked. You didn't want to hear about the hospital, you hated the hospital. You wanted to know what it's like outside of the hospital. Jimin was thrown off by your question but decided to answer it none the less.
"It's stressful. I take harder classes to stay in SOPA since I'm here on a scholarship." You didn't really understand. If it was so bad then why deal with it?
"Do you have a lot of friends?" He shook his head no and you could relate to him. You didn't really have any friends other than Lou and you weren't really sure you could consider Jungkook a friend. You didn't like people anyway but Jimin was obviously different from you. He wasn't 'crazy'.
You ended up asking Jimin all kinds of questions about what it was like to be free and not trapped in a cold room with the voices that run through your head and tell you to do bad things. Jimin tried to ask you questions too but you just ended up ignoring him by asking him another question. Before the two of you knew it, it was time for him to leave and time for you to go back to your room.
You were just glad he was gone before Lou showed up.
Lou doesn't like to share.
