The remaining population of the Omaticaya was now all gathered at The Tree of Souls. You, Mo'at, Neytiri, and Tsu'Tey all sat under it while the people were sitting close together around the base of it, holding hands with one another as well. The People were chanting and singing in Na'vi as an expression of adoration towards Eywa so that they can gain strength to get through these difficult times.
Before they could continue to sing, the Omaticaya suddenly felt a shadow looming over them all of a sudden. Y/n opened her eyes and stopped singing, along with Neytiri. Everyone turned their heads to see where the shadow was coming from, murmuring in worry and alarm. Once the people saw that it was Toruk that was making their way toward the Na'vi, everyone began to scream in fear.
Your eyes widened at the sight and you stayed frozen in your spot. Neytiri tried to grab you and pull you back with her. Even though the beast was ruthless, you were in shock. How many more hits would be thrown at you and your people? There's only so much you all could take. Once Toruk started to land, you saw a blue figure sitting on the banshee and your eyes widened further as your hands covered your mouth in disbelief. It was Jake.
As Toruk descended, the people cried and screamed as they backed away from the beast. The giant banshee roared, scaring and frightening the Omaticaya further. Even on top of Toruk, Jake's eyes were only focused on you. He climbed off of the banshee's neck and detached their bond, then walked up to stand next to its head and pat it gently. As a thank you for bringing him all the way here.
Your hands dropped from your mouth but your lips stayed ajar in surprise. Tsu'Tey, on the other hand, stayed crouched on the ground with suspicious and untrusting eyes. Part of you was relieved to see him again, but the other part of your head refused to let him back into your heart and mind like he was.
"Toruk Makto..." Mo'at muttered. Your mother's words all of a sudden made something click inside of you. No wonder Toruk was so adamant about solely chasing after Jake the other day. Toruk chose him. Just like it does with all of its previous riders. It all made sense now as to why you felt such a connection to him, and it was because of the purpose he was meant to fulfill.
You and Jake locked gazes from afar. His eyes were staring into yours with so much guilt mingled with longing to be with you again. As Jake started to walk forward to get to you, the villagers started to clear a path in the middle for the two of you to reach each other.
As he walked towards you, with his eyes never leaving yours, you absentmindedly started to walk forward as well to meet him in the middle of the path. Even with so many people staring at him and looking at Jake with admiration, he only ever looked at you and nobody else. He walked to you with soft eyes as if there was nobody else around and you were the only thing in his mind that plagued his thoughts.
Jake tilted his head slightly to the side as he was finally standing right in front of you. You let out a shaky breath as you looked into his amber eyes that were focused on you, and only you. A million things were running through each other's minds, with the urge to just be with one another again. At that moment, you were willing to break down those walls again and let him in, no matter how much your conscience protested against it.
"I see you," You said, panting softly as you looked up at him. Jake's heart warmed at your words. He hesitantly raised his hand and briefly brushed his thumb against your cheek, making you involuntarily lean into it.
"I see you," He replied, dropping his hand back to his side. Your heart raced at simply the sight of him standing in front of you. Returning the gesture, you lifted your hand and softly brushed it against his left forearm and arm.
Seeing you step closer to him, he let both of his hands travel back from your arm and up to cup your cheek and behind your neck. You placed your hands on his chest, feeling his heartbeat go faster at your touch just like yours was for him. You pressed your other hand against his cheek and exhaled shakily.
"I was afraid, Jake..." You admitted, and he nodded gently. You didn't need to explain yourself to him, but he will listen to you speak as much as you need without hesitation. "For my people. I'm not anymore..." You said, and he smiled tenderly with a soft exhale.
Jake intertwined his hand with yours, bringing it up to his lips and kissing your knuckles and he then turned to Tsu'Tey, who was looking at him doubtfully. Jake took a deep breath before he started to speak once more.
"Ma Tsu'tey te Rongloa, Ateyo'itan," (Tsu'tey of the Rongloa, son of Ateyo) Jake started, referring to Tsu'Tey respectfully. "Eo ngenga kllkxem ohe, alaksì Omatikayaru, kìte'e sivi" ( I stand before you, ready to serve the Omaticaya people) Jake continued, sincerity laced in his voice. He truly meant every word.
You squeezed Jake's hand before letting go and walking over to stand with Neytiri and Mo'at. Jake continued to approach Tsu'Tey peacefully, who analyzed the Avatar's words with a grain of salt. He wanted to believe Jake, but actions speak a lot louder than words.
"You are Olo'eyktan, and you are a great warrior. I can't do this without you," Jake said, leaving Tsu'Tey with a troubled expression as to whether he should believe Jake or not. If he says that he is not with the Sky People anymore and that he'll fight by the Omaticaya's side, then that's what he was going to do.
Tsu'Tey gulped, then looked back at Toruk, who roared in the background. The warrior turned back to Jake and made his decision.
"Toruk Makto, I will fly with you," Tsu'Tey said sincerely, placing his left hand on Jake's chest as a sign that he will fight alongside him.
Jake's eyes wavered and his breath hitched. "My friend is dying," He started, turning to look at Mo'at. "Grace is dying. I beg the help of Eywa" Jake said, and his words made both of yours and Neytiri's eyes widen. Grace was in trouble, but Eywa could save her.
Mo'at did not hesitate in stepping over to Jake and putting her hands on both of his shoulders. The Tsahik nodded wordlessly, and Jake let out a sigh of relief he didn't know he was holding in. There was a chance that Grace could be saved, and with that, Jake didn't waste any time and went back to base to retrieve Grace's both human and Avatar body.
When Jake returned with Grace back to The Tree of Souls, the Omaticaya were now sitting down around the tree with their braids connected to the roots of the ground, making a connection with Eywa and chanting. Soft but resounding booms sounded with every chant, making the ground light up, and then dim.
Jake was walking in between the rows of the Na'vi, with you sauntered behind him carrying Grace in his arms and bringing her over to the base of the tree where Mo'at was waiting to start the ritual. Norm followed in his Avatar form as well, being there if anything went south or unplanned.
"Look where we are, Grace" Jake said and hearing this, the red-headed scientist opened her eyes slowly to see that she was in The Tree of Souls, the place she had been dreaming about visiting for years on end.
Grace laughed softly as a smile grew on her face. The purple strands of the bioluminescent tree, along with the small Atokirina floating around, made her heart swell. "I need to take some samples," She said, and Jake chuckled gently, and then looked forward to where he was going. Y/n was walking beside Jake. You leaned over to see Grace and prayed to Eywa in your mind that she would be alright.
Upon arriving at the base of the tree, Jake kneeled over and lowered her body to the ground, next to her Avatar. You came to sit next to Jake and lean your head against his shoulder, exhaling with hope.
As soon as Grace's body touched the ground, small glowing tendrils started to surround her body, connecting her to Eywa as a whole. The ground continued to dim, and then light up, repeating this cycle over and over again. It was a sign that everything was okay for now.
"The Great Mother may choose to save all that she is in this body," Mo'at explained, gesturing to Grace's human and Avatar body. Jake immediately knew what she meant. If this was successful, Grace's consciousness would be transferred permanently to her Avatar, saving her and keeping her alive.
The glowing tendrils were beginning to attach themselves to Grace's Avatar body as well. Jake exhaled, then gulped as he turned to Mo'at and you lifted your head from his shoulder to hear your mother's words. "Is that possible?" He asked with hope and optimism.
Mo'at nodded. "She must pass through the eye of Eywa and return. But, Jakesully...she is very weak" Mo'at said, making Norm look at Grace sadly. Your heart got caught in your throat at your mother's words. Jake, on the other hand, looked determined and hopeful that Grace would be strong enough to get through this.
"Hang on, Grace. They're gonna fix you up" Jake reassured Grace, who was barely hanging on. She still had a pulse, but as Mo'at said, he could feel how weak she was.
The Tsahik stood up and raised her arms upwards as a sign of adoration and plead towards Eywa. The People knew what to do and as they joined arms and started to perform the ritual, the ground started to boom and glow all at once, summoning Eywa's help. As the ritual began, your hair began to glow in a soft and gentle light that was a sign that Eywa was amongst them, that they weren't alone.
"Tìng mikyun ayoheru rutxe, ma Nawma Sa'nok!" (Hear us please, Great Mother!) Mo'at began as the Omaticaya chanted along.
"Srung si poeru, ma Eywa!" (Eywa, help her!) The Na'vi chanted with Mo'at, and the booming and ground glowing began to intensify.
"Pori tireati, munge mì nga!" (Take this spirit into you!) Mo'at continued, raising her hands even higher in the air. You and Jake leaned against one another, and Neytiri patted the back of your head comfortingly, staying close together with you too.
"Srung si poeru, ma Eywa!" (Eywa, help her!) The chant repeated, trying to bring Eywa to help Grace stay alive. The people stayed hopeful, so they continued to sway, closing their eyes. You joined hands with Neytiri and began to chant along with your mother.
"...ulte tìng ayoer nì'eyng hu ngeyä ya!" (And breathe her back to us!) You all chanted. Jake never left Grace's side, making sure that her vitals were still okay to make it through the ritual and come back. "Srung si poeru, ma Eywa!" (Eywa, help her!) The Na'vi chanted, and the ritual was slowly coming to an end.
"Tivìran po ayoekip, na Na'viyä hapxì!" (Let her walk among us, as one of the people!) Mo'at chanted, and your hair began to glow brighter at the presence of Eywa heightening.
The ritual was coming to an end, so tendrils started to rise from the ground and attach themselves to Grace's neck. That would be what transferred her permanently to her Avatar form. The tendrils grew brighter, as well as the roots of The Tree of Souls.
"Eo Eywa oe 'ia..." (I lose myself before Eywa...) Mo'at chanted but repeated this particular part over and over as her head tilted back and her eyes were closed shut.
Noticing something had happened, Mo'at stopped chanting and turned to her people. "Lu hasey!" (It is finished!) She said, making the Na'vi stop the ritual as the Tsahik approached Grace's human body.
Grace's eyes slowly opened and her head turned to look upwards. In her mind, she felt like she was already gone. Noticing her being awake, Jake came closer to her and held one of her hands in both of his while you and Neytiri watched with worry.
"Grace..." Jake said, hoping that the ritual had worked. But by the looks of it, her Avatar should have woken up instead and now Grace looked like she was seeing stars.
"I'm with her, Jake" Grace muttered weakly. She let out a soft breath as if attempting to chuckle. "She's real..." She said, and that was the last thing she did before beginning to slip away. Jake began to panic.
Everything began to feel blurry and distorted for Grace at that moment. "Grace? Grace, please. Grace!" Jake called out, seeing her eyes begin to close and feeling her hand losing its mobility and grip. You began to come closer and sit next to Jake, tears filling your eyes as you saw Grace's eyes close completely. You cupped your hands over your mouth with your eyes wide, all the while Jake turned to Mo'at to ask for answers as to what happened.
The roots and the tendrils around the tree started to dim and shut down, and Jake did not take this as a good sign. You turned to Neytiri to see that her stoic demeanor was being shattered by this moment. You took ahold of her hand and gripped it tightly, reassuring one another. Grace was at peace with Eywa now.
"What's happening? Did it work?" Jake asked, feeling in denial. He knew deep down it didn't work, but he hoped his closest friend was still alive as Mo'at hovered her hands over both of Grace's bodies. Human and Avatar.
Mo'at looked down dejectedly. "Her wounds were too great. It was not enough time. She is with Eywa now," She said, and Jake let out a shaky breath as he looked downwards. You let go of your sister's hand and placed it over Jake's shoulder with comfort, and he responded by placing his on top of yours. He squeezed gently, telling you that it was okay.
Neytiri reached over and removed Grace's oxygen mask from her face. Now, it was more clear than ever that she had passed.
With a sense of determination and courage, Jake squeezed your hand one more time and then stood up, letting your hand fall to your side again. It still wasn't there for long because as he turned to look at Tsu'Tey, Jake grabbed your hand again and brought you with him.
The two of you stood in front of the Olo'eyktan, and Jake sighed before speaking. "With your permission, I will speak now. You would honor me by translating," Jake said, and Tsu'Tey nodded without hesitation.
As the three of you stood at the base of the tree, overlooking the Omaticaya who looked worried and concerned beyond relief, Jake began to speak and say what he has to.
"The Sky People have sent us a message," Jake started, and Tsu'Tey translated what he had said to the Na'vi who now had their full attention on the two men. "That they can take whatever they want, and no one can stop them" Jake continued, and as he felt himself start to fill himself with justice and anger towards the Sky People, his eyes narrowed and his tail swayed behind him in reflection of his tone.
"Well, we will send them a message. You ride out as fast as the wind can carry you. You tell the other clans to come!" He spoke passionately and with dedication, giving his heart completely to the cause, and Tsu'Tey smiled at Jake's words and translated the plan to the other Na'vi. The Omaticaya stood up, yipping and exclaiming in agreement.
"You tell them that Toruk Makto calls to them!" He said with determination, his face turning into an expression of devotion and seriousness. Tsu'Tey relayed the message in the same tone, if not more proudly, to the Na'vi.
"And you fly now with me! My brothers! Sisters! And we will show the Sky People, that they cannot take whatever they want! And that this, is our land!" Jake yelled with the strength he hoped he can transfer to the Omaticaya to stand up and fight. The Na'vi all stood up and cheered in agreement to what was being said, and that was all the courage they needed.
"Fìtseng awngeyä!" (This is our land!) You yelled, throwing your fist in the air. Jake's hand came upon your waist and he brought you towards him and raised his right fist in the air to cheer with you and all the Na'vi. "Yah!" Jake let out a war cry, feeling the excitement from the people around him.
You then turned to Jake and locked gazes with you. He didn't waste any time, so he grabbed your hand and pulled you through the sea of people in front of you, while also clearing the way for Toruk Makto and his mate.
Upon reaching Toruk, before climbing on, Jake unexpectedly turned to you, looked into your eyes for a few seconds, and used one hand to cup your cheek, and the other one held onto your waist, pulling you in for a slow but brief kiss. Before you could kiss him back, he pulled away and smiled at you with adoration. You reciprocated his affection and beamed at Jake with so much love and warmth. You were so in love with this man that you could barely take it.
Jake eventually turned to Toruk, attacked his braid to the beast to create the bond, and climbed up on its back. Without forgetting about you, he held out a hand for you and pulled you up to sit behind him. Once you settled behind him, you wrapped your arms around his waist and he raised his fist for the Na'vi still at the base of the tree.
Because of the bond, when Jake cheered, Toruk roared ferociously and extended its wings, screeching as if reciprocating in its way what Jake was doing. Toruk eventually took flight and gave a whole lap around The Tree of Souls before heading off into the distance with you and Jake on its back. The Omaticaya were rallying excitedly as they climbed up from the crater their sacred tree was in it. They let out war cries that were driven by the desire to fight against the Sky People and protect their home.
All Omaticaya got on their Ikrans and began to follow the lead of Toruk Makto. While you were on the giant banshee, you looked back to your people and saw their drive as they rode their Ikrans. "Yah!" You hooted, yelling out a battle cry, making Jake put a hand over yours.
It was a matter of time before you and Jake started recruiting people from all over territories in Pandora. You were with Jake every step of the way, and for him, he wouldn't want you anywhere else than by his side.
We rode out to the four winds. To the horse clans of the plain.
Jake and you were encouraging even more Na'vi in the plains where the clans whose way of life centered around Pa'li horses. Everyone was on board, and your numbers were growing exponentially in ways you couldn't imagine.
To the Ikran people of the Eastern Sea.
Your next stop were the clans that lived amongst the cliffs next to the ocean and bred Ikrans. Like the people from the plain who did the same with Pa'li's, Ikrans were part of the way of life for these clans.
"Back to the stars! For our children's children!" Jake spoke with fervor and pride as you translated everything he had to say with the same intensity and enthusiasm as he had.
When Toruk Makto called them, they came.
After hearing those words, the Chief of the Ikran clan of the sea yelled out and the rest of the Na'vi raised their weapons in the air with cries of approval and cheers. After the speech, the clan followed Jake towards the forest, all on their Ikrans.
All the clans he gathered to ride with him arrived, just like the ones that he had flown out to gather for a final attack, just as the previous Toruk Makto did. Their numbers had grown even larger than before the attack of the Sky People, and they could win this thing. No. They will win this battle no matter what.
Everything was going according to plan. The forest was bustling with clans coming together to fight against this threat. With Toruk next to him. Jake watched the Na'vi down below with pride filling his being. Ikrans were flying amongst the people, Omaticaya training for battle, and their people were continuing to grow over just a few weeks.
Jake held a bow and arrow in his grip, and he had changed his whole appearance. He had braided his hair with accessories typical to the Omaticaya, especially to Toruk Makto. He wore his warrior visor to fly in the air, he had armbands that highlighted his strength, and a waistband made out of special leaves and wood, and with all of that, he did fit the part to lead the people to victory.
A few days later, you started to feel a bit queasy and weird. It was the middle of the night at the moment, and you could not seem to fall asleep whatsoever. You were laying down with Jake and he had his arm wrapped around your waist, and his head tucked in your hair. Your head was in his chest and using his arm as a pillow of sorts. It was fairly comfortable.
Looking for Neytiri to help with this was the best course of action, so now, you slowly detached yourself from him and headed to look for your sister as quietly as you could so you could head back to Jake before he realizes you were gone and worried.
After walking for a bit around the village, you found Neytiri's hut and walked inside it. She was sound asleep, and you felt bad for waking her up, but this was important. You already were starting to have a clue as to why you were feeling the way you were and it was no coincidence since it has been a few weeks and what you think it is, is completely possible.
You leaned over your sister and gently nudged her. Neytiri opened her eyes with a yawn and then turned to look at you with confusion, wondering why you were in her hut at this hour. "Y/n? Sister, why are you awake?" Neytiri asked with concern, sitting up.
"I need your help," You whispered with worry in your eyes, and that was all your sister needed to know that she had to be there for you. Neytiri nodded and grabbed your hand, leading you out of the hut and back toward The Tree of Souls. Upon reaching if, the two of you sat together in front of the other in a cross-legged position.
"What is troubling you, Y/n?" Neytiri asked with concern. You weren't sure if you were ready to share this, but this was Neytiri, so you could tell her anything without being judged.
"I think..." You started, taking a shaky breath and looking down for a moment. You looked up and gathered your courage to say it. "I think I might be with child," You said, and as expected, Neytiri's eyes widened while gasping.
You were half expecting to have condescending comments about being irresponsible and careless, but the opposite happened. Your sister got closer and embraced you with a tight hug. It took you a few seconds, but you reciprocated it and hugged back your beloved sister with everything you had.
"Y/n...I'm overjoyed for you" She whispered, and her words brought happy tears to your eyes. You thanked Eywa every day for having a sister like her. Your pregnancy wasn't confirmed yet, but that was what you were here to find out, and hopefully get answers.
The two of you pulled away and Neytiri understood what you wanted her help with. So she began the process, and you waited patiently until she was done. It wasn't arduous or anything, just very awkward, which is why you're glad you asked someone as close to you as your sister to do it.
After Neytiri finished the process, she used her previous training of Tsahik to determine whether or not you had a baby growing inside of you as we speak. It seemed like forever while you fidgeted and waited for Neytiri to give you the results, but before you knew it, you heard soft cries coming from across you.
You looked up and saw Neytiri crying with a smile on her face. She nodded and that's all you needed to know. Both sisters hugged tightly at the news, and let happy tears roll down their cheeks at their revelation.
You couldn't believe it. You were pregnant. You were going to have a baby. You and Neytiri pulled away, sniffling and letting out laughs and giggles slip out while composing yourselves. It truly felt surreal.
"As I said, I truly am so happy for you, Y/n. I have no doubt you will be an amazing mother" Neytiri said, making you smile. If only Neytiri knew how good of an aunt she was going to be. If their history together as sisters taught you anything, is that your kids will be so lucky to have an aunt like Neytiri to be there for them like she was for you.
And suddenly, a thought entered your mind like a plague. You had to tell Jake. Would he be upset? Would he be mad? He has other things to worry about right now and this didn't seem like good timing. Either way, this child is a blessing for you and it always will be.
"Are you not happy?" Neytiri asked, seeing your suddenly troubled face. And you shook your head, assuring that everything was fine. "It's just that with everything happening right now, the timing seems unfortunate. War is coming, and If I'm being honest, I'm scared. Now more than ever knowing I have life inside me I have to protect" You said, patting your belly gently where your baby is right now.
"Y/n. As your sister, you have nothing to worry about. You are strong, and I know that if this baby is anything like you, he'll be a warrior and a fighter just like you and Jake. Speaking of, don't worry about his reaction. Seeing how much he loves you by the way he looks at you, he'll be thrilled" Neytiri reassured, and you nodded understandingly.
"Thank you, Neytiri. I love you" You said sincerely, with your eyes glistening with unshed tears that are surely coming out soon.
Neytiri nodded wordlessly, leaning over to embrace you in a tight hug. "I love you, too, my dear sister" She muttered. There was not going to be a time in which Neytiri won't be there for you. You deserved everything good in the world, and the irony is, you thought the same thing about her. And you would fight for each other until the end of your days.
After talking and bit more tear shedding, the two of you went back to the village. Neytiri returned to her hut and you bid your goodbyes as you headed back to Jake, who was thankfully still fast asleep. You were nervous about telling him about the life growing inside you, but you weren't going to dwell on that tonight, simply because you wanted to enjoy this very moment with him.
You ended up curling up against him again like you were before heading out, and Jake seemed to notice your presence because his arms went around your waist and hips again, tightening his grip on you. He brought you closer to him, not leaving any space in between, but still comfortable enough to fall into a deep sleep.
