lily's pov

i woke after ruby jumped onto me and after i was done gasping for air, and somewhat dying of a heavy elephant on me. i was fine.

i got dressed which is a simple outfit which consists of a black tank top which some holes, a pair of white and black ripped jeans and a pair of red boots. i realized the colors were cruella de vil from 101 dalmatians.

sometimes i wouldn't even realize what i am doing until someone mentions it. i get a text from one of my other friends, okay my only girl friend. cecily. god me and her go way back, by that i mean i think first grade or second. okay i don't remember but it was around that time.

bestie: so u wanna hang sometime today if u want?

crazy ass: sure thing girl

bestie: u wanna bring ur dork friend?

crazy ass: u mean cal?

bestie: duh who else was i talkin about?

crazy ass: sure thing ill talk to him and see, k?

i chuckled a little at cecily, she has a great sense of humor though, i'll give her that. it's better than mine that's for sure. cal always says i don't have one because i always have a resting bitch face, which i can say that i do.

once i was done talking to cecily i called cal okay i woke him up for that matter. after he cursed under his breath of me waking him up, i said.

"yo jackass wanna hang today," i asked him as i was getting my hair ready as its a typical thing of us to be talking like this. in my opinion its hilarious of the things that we say to each other.

i heard him groan on the other line as it made me snicker, and he said some few choice words at me. we always do that, for as long as me and cal have been friends.

"right now banshee i just fucking woke up?" he asked as i shook my head with a smile on my face.

"you get your ass dressed and i'll pick you up," i said as i grabbed my little backpack that used to have the first aid kit. i eventually gave it back to cal he also said some few choice words which made me smile and then laugh about it.

"ugh fine, i suppose," he said as i heard barking on his end and i smiled as it was runt. "your best friend is on the other side buddy," he said as i heard noises on his end which meant that he was getting dressed.

"want coffee too," i asked as he said yes at that question. i think this man has a problem with coffee he said that he blamed me for that, and i thought that it was funny.

"i blame you for that. you know that?" he said as i smiled as i walked downstairs and from the looks of it, dad's the only one home.

"where's eden," i asked him and he looked up from what he was doing. it looked like he was painting. i swear that's what he's always doing.

"at your uncle's house, as he wants help re doing his kitchen," dad said with one of his cigars in his mouth, as i nodded my head.

"hey jack," cal said to dad as he said hi back. "what's he doin," he asked me which was probably the dumbest question ever.

"what do you think beevus," i said sarcastically to him as i heard him chuckle a little.

"cal right" dad asked as i nodded my head as my response. "my boy how are you," dad asked as i gave him my phone as i was quickly getting two eggo waffles and putting them in the toaster.

"i'm alright, how about you," cal said as he enjoys talking to my dad, as dad likes cal in the first place. mostly because of runt being the cutest dog, outside of ruby.

speaking of ruby she's chewing the daylights out of her new toy that eden got her, i think yesterday.

"that's good, yeah i've been alright," dad said as he takes a sip from the rum that's in the glass.

"imma steal lily today," cal said to dad as i refilled his glass with rum and put the bottle back on the alcohol rack, that has it's own cabinet. yeah dad thought that it would be a great idea, and so an hour later that was made.

"sure thing i don't mind about it. if you want you can join us for dinner, my brother and father are coming over for a cookout. you are welcome to join," dad says as i smiled at seeing grandpa theo, and my two cousins sawyer and zachary. also my uncle aiden he's pretty good. last time i saw grandpa theo was on new years as he lives a couple states away, so we only see him very few times. but my uncle and two cousins they live on the other side of town.

"yeah i can join i have no plans for dinner," cal said to dad as he had a small on his face. dad always says that he considers cal like his own son as he's always coming over for whatever as his mom is always working.

"oh and lil i am going to take your car to the shop because of the engine so you can take mine," i heard dad say as i froze as he never lets me drive his car. the only other time that i have droven it is when i was doing the driver's test. but that was it.

"y-you want m-me to d-drive y-your car," i asked to make sure that i heard what i was saying from my father, and he nodded his head confirming what was said.

"yes," he says with a smile on his face as i narrow my eyes suspiciously at him as i know that something is up with this. i can't believe that he's letting mr drive his car, as it's one of his prized possessions well besides me and my sister of course.

"uh okay, sure thing," i say as i mentally hit myself in the head as he habded me the keys as i still have the shocked look on my face, as i still can't believe what was just said.

after he was done talking to cal he gave me back my phone as i was still shocked to even say something anything.

"are you planning anything, that i should be concerned about?" i ask him as he had his famous smirk on his face as i stared at him for an answer.

"i don't know what you are talking about baby," dad said as he had his best innocent smile on his face as i rose my eyebrow in suspicion.

"fine, bye love you," i say breaking the silence between us two as i shook my head with a smile as i walked out to the garage where dad kept his car.

i couldn't believe that i was even remotely doing this as i couldn't keep my composure. i remembered how dad told me how to start it, and then i slowly but surely backed out, and before i could even get anywhere dad gestured me to stop and i putted it in park.

"be careful, i love you honey," he said to me and he leaned in and kissed my forehead as i smiled. "have fun," he said as i nodded my head he kissed my head again. after he walked away i continued to back up out of the drive way, and then i made my way to cal's house.

i went to the gas station and put in to get gas and then i texted cal to meet me here because i know that he doesn't live that far. he said that he will and i stalled a little by going inside the gas station and bought some snacks and drinks. when i was as almost done having a little shopping spree.

i was humming a song as i was shopping, as it was one of my favorites.

"hey ma'am i was wondering if you can help me find my friend," a voice asked as i turned around there was the idiot, cal.

"uh sure sir what does she look like?" i asked him as he had a smile on his face as i shook my head at our joke. it's also mine and cecily's joke also, it gets hilarious everytime.

"nevermind she's standing right in front of me," he said as i shook my head at him as we both walked to the cashier's desk and payed for our snacks and drinks. "anymore and you'd buy the entire store," he said jokingly to me and i rolled my eyes a little.

"um for starters i don't even eat half of this i was just being generous," i said to him as we got to the car, after i was struggling with the bags. maybe i got too much food and snacks for the three of us. well, cal loves to eat so some of what's left will be his.

"alright you got the best snacks," he said as i smiled at him as i was putting some of it in the backseat.

"just don't eat all of it. how about this-" i said then i turned around he was eating the funyuns and drinking a bottle of the dr. pepper. "yeah you are totally sitting in the front seat," i said as i started taking away the food and as i was doing it he was giving me a look.

"but who is gonna be watching the food," he complained like a child as i huff annoyed at this dude who is basically a child. i realized that i needed to hang out with more guys.

"uh definitely not you. you'd eat it all for one," i said as i went to take the chips and the drink away from him and then i grabbed his ear and started dragging him to the passenger seat. at this point i wasn't caring if anyone was watching us

"ow! ow! ow! ow! okay i won't eat the food i promise," he said crying out in pain as i let go of his ear that is now red.

"oh stop being a wussy it wasn't that hard," i said to him with fake enthusiasm as i made grabby hands for the things that he so graciously stole.

he had a pouty look on his face as i had had a look on my face like a mother would when her child is misbehaving. "do i need to say your first name, mister?" i asked as he quickly handed me the chips and the drink as i smiled satisfied of what i got. "good then behave," i said as i then got to my side of the car.

"can i puhlease have my snack and drink back," he said like a child as i teasingly kept teasing him with them and he contined to whine like a child.

"will you behave," i asked him and he nodded his head as i gave him his food back.

after cal promised that he'd behave we started back on the road again to cecily's place.

"where are we going," he asked as we came to a stop light. to say i was annoyed by the amount of questions is a total yes. i might as well smack the living shit out of him just to make him shut up.

"so you don't want the oreos then, hmm," i say to him as his face lit up when i said that. i shook my head at this guy, he shouldn't talk that i have a food addiction. he is always stuffing his face full of food.

once the light turned back green it didn't take long to get to cecily's house, as i started honking the horn like a banshee.

"why are we here," he asked as i was about to smack him or somethin. maybe i should have just left him, but i wanted to be generous and not let him be fucking alone. granted yes he'd be with runt but his mom is always working just to support everything.

so i figured that he could come crashing with us today, but maybe that wouldn't last anymore. but i also want to be nice and not push him out of that car.

eventually after a minute of more honking like a fucking banshee cecily came out of the house and it looked like her father was hitting her again. good thing that i always keep makeup in my backpack then.

"isn't that cecily," he asked as i nodded my head as i sighed sadly. cecily doesn't deserve her father to say the least, as he's always drunk and whatnot, and when he has a bad day he takes his anger out on her. it breaks my heart knowing that but that's what is unfortunately happening in this world. she got in behind mr as that's not where the food is.

third person's pov

after cecily got into the car lily quickly grabbed her makeup bag knowing that cecily doesn't have any. or if she did she already used it all. lily gave cecily her bag as she immediately knew what the bag was and she instantly started putting on her makeup to cover up her bruises.

cal and lily exchanged glances as he would occasionally look at her, not in a staring way, or for long enough. just like two seconds. lily muttered the words under her breath, her father beats her. after she said that cal almost didn't believe her until lily nodded her head confirming it. he shook his head annoyed at hearing that as now he felt bad for the girl.

the only reason why lily knows what happens is because her and cecily are friends; well more like best friends, but also so close that they say that they are sisters.

it's sad what's happening in this world in lily's opinion, she hates seeing what's happening in the world, like the attack on Ukraine.

(yes i know that's a real thing but i felt like including it in this book and i will also mention other things that has happened in the usa and the world).

like also during 911 in september 11, 2001 when the two twin towers in nyc were attacked by hijackers, and the pentagon in arlington, virginia. it's sad what's happening in this world and also what happened to her grandmother and how she was murdered by her cookoo ex boyfriend.

basically a summary of what happened was it was somewhere in the 80s and her grandmother and he mother elise. they were leaving a movie theater as they were spending a girl's day together as her grandfather was a firefighter and he wasn't really home that much. then as elise and her mother was leaving the theater they saw a man and the grandmother didn't think anything of it until the man spoke. then the grandmother recognized it as her ex husband (or boyfriend i don't remember). the man the pulled the trigger as per usual he was either drunk and or high on drugs or both.

lily's pov

(i wanted the third person's pov to be short anyway; i figured that since this movie is about violence anyway that i could put the twin towers and the pentagon in here. so a little bit of history in here).

"ooh yay cal is here," cecily said as she handed me back the makeup bag, as she asked for a thing of dr pepper and i said yes and she grabbed one and opened it.

"hey," cal said with his mouth full of food as we pulled up to starbucks for the coffee.

"cecily what do you want," i asked as she looked at the menu as i somewhat know what she wants. but sometimes she's like me and likes to change what she gets.

"can i get the iced shaken espresso," she asked as i nodded my head.

"sure thing," i said as i already knew what cal wanted as he's gotten the same thing since i first brought him here.

"hi what can i get for you," the person said on the other line.

"hi, can i get a grande mocha frappuccino, a iced shaken espresso, a vanilla sweet cream cold brew, and a white chocolate mocha frappuccino please and that will be all," i said as the person gave me the total and i pulled up.

"what is the other one for," cal said as i grabbed my card.

"dad he said that he wanted something, and i wanted to be that generous daughter and getting him something," i said as i grabbed my phone and my aux cord and plugged it into the thing and went on spotify and clicked on a random playlist. why not stall time? right.

i texted dad saying that i got his drink already as i know what he likes and gets at starbucks. its been the same since me and my sister first came to starbucks.

we drove back so i can drop off dad's coffee, which he was happy for if you ask me. after he kissed my head by i walked out of the house and got back into the car, and i saw that cal tried to be a sneak ass and went to grab something but cecily hit his hand. i smiled at the scene and I didn't even tell her to do that. i just thought that was more funnier if i thought about it more.

"cal tried to be sneaky and so i hitted his hand," cecily said as i smiled at her as i got into the car. From the corner of my eye i saw that cal stook out his tongue at her for telling me.

"i swear that you two are seriously like children," i say with slight shake of my head as i heard.

"he started it." cecily said as cal groaned as we were on our way to the park for a picnic.

"where are we going?" cal asks as i mentally groan at hearing this guys questions as it's starting to get on my nerves.

"oh so you don't want to come fine you can walk home." i say to him as he immediately shook his head at me as i raised an eyebrow at him.

"oooh she got you," cecily said as cal turned to her and gave her a look as i harshly thumped his head, and he winced as he turned back to look at me.

"shut it cecily," cal retorted as i grabbed his hand and bended his finger back and he immediately took his hand back.

"that's what i thought," i said as we stopped at a light and who was right next to me. either vic or ronnie but i could care either way.

"hey look its dickhead one and dickhead two," cecily said as cal turned to his side of the car and looked as it looked like vic was driving and ronnie was in the passenger seat. then someone else in the back seat, i saw cal and cecily lean backwards so it looked like i was in the car.

"hey fuckers long time no see," i shouted to vic as cal's window was rolled down anyway, as i gave him the finger when he looked at me and stepped on the gas as we drove away.

i didn't care what their looks were, whether they saw me or the car. i'm telling you their looks would have been funny as fuck. it sucks how i won't have this car tomorrow but maybe i can convince dad to let me have it for the weekend. god, .i love this car. dad has always been taking care of his cars over the years and a couple of his trucks. i swear our backyard i literally filled with dad's cars over the years as we have a shed but it's for his classic cars. he has a habit of buying classic cars and fixing them up if needed.

"is this your dad's car," cecily aaked as i nodded my head as i took a sip from my monster eneegy drink. its good too.

"yeah, if you like this car sometime you have to come and see the rest of them," cal said as i was just about to say that.

"he has more of them," cecily said as me and cal laughed a little as a handful of times cal has seen dad's collection. its enough to make a mechanic jealous and wishing that they had dad's classic cars.

"in the backyard he has a huge shed that basically has every single one of his classics in it. cal has seen them a handful of times," i said as cal grabbed my phone and went to probably show cecily the pictures.

"they are under classics right?" he asked as i nodded my head at him.

"hey while you're at it can you change the song," i said to him as i took another sip of my monster as cal said yes and it was a happy song, well not a song that reminds me of my mom.

"wow i haven't heard this song in ages," cecily said as the three of us are singing thriller by Michael Jackson.

cal must have found at least a good picture as i heard cecily gasping at the pictures.

"wow that's cool," she said as me and cal agreed with her. "that would make a mechanic jealous," she also said as me and cal laughed a little.

"yeah and he says that i have a problem with my obsessions that i have," i say as we pulled into the parking lot of our destination.

"ooh yay a picnic," cecily said as i felt a sudden shudder down my spine as that only meant one thing. Vic and Ronnie.

"on second thought the dipshits are here and i'm not driving cal to the hospital anytime soon," i say as i immediately backed up and drove in a cloud of dust.

"ugh, why must they ruin everything," cecily said as i scoffed a little annoyed, as that was the park that dad would take me and my sister every weekend when mom was still with us.

i love you mama.

"tell me about it," i said annoyed with a hint of anger in my voice.

"they must've followed us, i mean its the only logical thing why they were here," cal said reasoning as i drove faster past the red light.

third person's pov

they eventually found a park where it was vic and ronnie free which was a good thing for lily's temper as she doesn't have any patience right now. cal tried to calm her down, but that didn't really work like he expected it. but lily reatrained herself from making a scene as there was another family here, with their two kids as it was a mom, dad and their kids. it started to remind lily of when her mom was still alive with her dad and her sister eden.

well, speaking of eden she took ruby to the park as it was in walking distance from the park and of course ruby ran to lily. the blonde was happy to see her pooch as was cal and cecily as she hasn't seen ruby in a while so it was goid on seeing her again.

"i thought you were going to go to the park where dad used to take us," eden says as lily has an annoyed look on her face which eden suspected that it was vic or ronnie. she knows when something like that happens as lily has her pissed off look on her face.

"yeah the two demon twins must have followed us there, that's ehat cal was suspecting as it only makes sense," cecily said to eden as lily's sister nods her head as it does make sense the more that she thinks about it.

"makes sense. i figured that i could take rub for a walk to the park to wear her out before the cookout tonight," eden says as lily smiles a little as she misses her uncle aiden and sawyer and zachary and maybe grandpa theo will come also.

her grandpa theo tries to come down for cookouts and things like that but he lives in new york which is on the other side of the us. so he doesn't always have the time to get off of work to come to see his family, and friends that live in town.

"hope grandpa theo comes too," eden says as lily nods her head.

"yeah i miss him. last we saw him was chrismas of last year, i think or was it thanksgiving. i know for a fact that it was last year. right," lily says to her sister as she confirms that it was last year.

"right yeah. it also makes sense of why we don't always see him," eden says as lily nods her head as she deeply misses her grandpa.

"what does he do," cecily asked the two girls.

"uh he works at the hospital, as he's a general surgeon," eden says as lily got distracted by ruby, as she sorta forgot that cal, cecily and her sister were there.

"you got distracted by ru didn't you, again," cal says with a small laugh at his friend, as she sheepishly blushed a little.

"what makes you say that," lily asked cal as she stuck out her tongue playfully as ruby barked at a chipmunk. "hey look it's alvin," lily says as her two friends and her sister statted laughing at the girl. "hey, buddy where are your brothers," lily says as the group laughs more. "simon, theodore where are you guys," lily says as ruby continued to bark.

"ru what do you see, girl," eden says as a car stopped which got the friends attention, as a million thoughts where in their heads of what could go wrong. but when the door opened and it was aiden. the girl's uncle and sawyer and zachary walke out too.

once aiden came into a closer view eden let ruby run to the man and she ended up running to sawyer. mostly because she has treats.

"hey girl who is a good doggy," sawyer says as zachary and his sister started petting the dog.

"we are having the cookout here, your dad wanted to change the plans," aiden says as eden hugged her uncle, and not to long grandpa theo was making his way to the now group that's forming.

"hey, hey, people," grandpa theo (joaquin phoenix) says as he has some type of food in his hands and then jack came with his grill which was a portable one.

"grandpa!!" lily and eden say as they both run to their beloved grandfather. he hugs his two granddaughters and kisses the top of their heads.

cecily and cal are helping setting up the cookout, with jack and aiden. cal introduced cecily to aiden, sawyer, zachaey, and grandpa theo as she never met the four of them. unlike cal who is basically over to the house whenever he has the chance. this is why it helps always being at your friends house during family gatherings, and lily and eden's family considers cal to be apart of the crazy rambunctious cooper's.

"nice to meet you guys," cecily says a little nervously to sawyer and zach.

"you're the cecily that lily and eden never shut up about," aiden says as cecily, lily and eden blush at what their uncle said.

"really," eden says in a slight french accent as she's been learnimg french at school. she has been for two years actually and she's actually pretty good at it, if she says so herself.

"what," aiden says sheepishly to the two girls who ignore him as lily goes with ruby to the jungle gym at the park as cal and cecily watch their friend basically being a kid even if she is seventeen years old. ruby and lily go down the slide and eden catches the pooch. "you love me, right," he says as he goes unheard by the girls as he shakes his head with a laugh at his nieces.

"so how have you been jack," theo says as he's aiden and jack's father well more like jack's stepfather and aiden's biological father. (If that makes sense).

"been hanging in there with two crazy teenager girls," jack says as he takes a swig of the rum and lights a cigar. "wish that elise was here she'd be so happy with how far the girl's have gotten, and big for that matter," jack says as theo and aiden smile a little at the man.

cecily and cal share a look as lily doesn't really talk about her mother that much as she has barriers that she hasn't broken about her mom. it makes them wonder what happened to elise cooper.
