*Trigger Warning, Drugs, Violence.
*Amelia Shepherd, Age 16.
She was a teenager. She was suppose to be like all the other girls her age. ... Talking about boys, what to wear to the Prom. Possibly maybe or maybe not having sex. She was suppose to have a good childhood.
Amelia fell into the wrong crowd, but honestly it started years before that when she was just a child. (Maybe five-nine?). ...
(Flashback). ... Little Amelia went to the convenience store with her brother and her dad. Her dad worked there. ... He had to finish closing up for the day and then the kids and him were going to go to the park. (I don't know I made that part up). ... She remembered it so clear. Her father told her and her brother Derek to go play in the back. They sat in the floor and she was playing with some quarters. She used to stick them in between this piece of wood in the floor, hoping to collect them or something. ... They both heard the bell ring on the front door of the shop. ...
A man came in. Everything was pleasant for a moment. ... and then one quick second later, like lightning. The man pulled out a gun. ... Amelia gasped!. But Derek put his hand over her mouth and told her not to make a sound. Or they too would fear getting in the middle of the situation and get hurt.
... All they could was watch. Watch and relieve the moment over and over. The man pulled out his gun and demanded the watch from their dad. It wasn't an expensive watch. It was just a watch that their mother got gotten for him for their anniversary... Their father pleaded with the man... but he wouldn't give it to him. The man shot him and ran off. The dad was dead in an instant. The kids couldn't really say goodbye. They cried until the cops got there. Derek had found the dads cell phone and called their mother and told her what had happened. ... (End Flashback).
... A Year Ago before when she was fifteen. Amelia got into Drugs, mostly Oxy-known as Oxycodone. It was a narcotic used to treat pain. She would overdose on pills. But most of the time she would crush them up into a fine powder and snort it. (Snorting is when you sniff something up your nose to get an effect faster). ... They seemed to numb her pain. Every night since the shooting that killed her father she had nightmares. She knew it wasn't her fault and for a while she even blamed Derek. But it wasn't Derek's fault either. He did it to keep her safe. ... She fell so bad into a deep pit of darkness. ... One night she was out driving and she crashed their mothers car. She didn't realize how high she was before she got into the Drivers Seat.
... Amelia wasn't hurt from the Car Crash but it did shake her up and she didn't drive for a long time after that. ... But her mother did send her to rehab. ... It helped for a while but eventually she relapsed again. (And for four times after that).
