"Light exists only when there is dark."

Pain. Darkness. Fear.

There are times in everybody's life that they feel these things, see them even. Some are lucky. Some live without experiencing any of them. Others are not as fortunate.

Others trek through all the hardships of life just to find that the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is nothing more than a poorly painted rock. They traverse the stormy waves only to break upon the rocks.

Lightning exploded across the blackening sky, turning the boiling ocean waves a stark white for split seconds before the raging waters disappeared in the dark once more. Waves crashed mercilessly upon one another, knocking about a small, battered, metal object.

Metal clashed against metal, tearing off broken pieces of hull and throwing them into the watery abyss. It made an awful sizzling sound when something inside sparked. The glass cracked further than it had already been, mirroring the lightning in the sky as it splintered.

An inhuman scream echoed within the ship hull, drowned out by the roaring waves and thundering skies. It cried, begging for safety from the frigid saltwater pooling in the cabin. It knew there was no escape, yet it still cried out in fear.

She was not meant to come here, she knew that very well. An engine malfunction had brought her hurtling from the stars. It was unexpected, and it was painful. Her palms were scorched with char from the fire that had sprung to life during her descent. But that didn't change her situation. The waves were not as forgiving as she had hoped at first.

Wires sparked across her console, slowly fading with each new burst of saltwater from the hull's seal. At first, they were a prioritized concern. Yet now, with the stormy fray tossing the ship about like a predacon with an energeon scrap, they were long forgotten.

Power was fading quickly, the small emergency lights flickering dimly. Red was turning purple from the blue shades of crashing ocean waves. Ocean waves that were slowly growing ever more distant.

She screamed once more, throwing her whole frame at the cracked glass panel. But the glass was built to withstand small asteroids and the vacuum of space, it would not give. Yet she could not give in. She could see the flashes of lightning above the violent waves; there was still some hope.

Metal screeched and sparked, denting with each added blow. The water was now up to her middle, slowing her progress like tar. She needed out; she couldn't let herself die inside a sinking coffin. Too far down and she would crumple like a sheet of tin.

Tears were streaming down her face as she continued, nothing succeeding. She wanted to cry out again for help, but she knew there was none to come. She was alone on this planet.

The surface was fading from sight, only the rough rocking of her sinking capsule giving away how close she was. But it was black now and the water reached her chin.

A choked sob left her as the last of the air disappeared, leaving the ship to follow suit and fade into the abyss. She still banged on the glass, but her blows were weaker now that the hope was gone. With the last of the air had gone her faith.

And the ship continued downwards, tiny bubbles streaming from its hull as it faded into the deep blue.

Hope y'all enjoy this as much as I will!
