"You've trained hard. You've gotten stronger, tougher, faster. You've done your best." Johnny says. The group is standing in a junkyard surrounded by trash and old beat up cars. Jamie stands next to Aisha confused at why they're here, "You're ready for this tournament, am I right?"

"Yes, Sensei!"

"Wrong!" He yells, "Your best ain't shit! If you want to win the All-Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament, you gotta give me better than your best. Which is why from now on, you're gonna get my worst. You understand?"

"Yes, Sensei!"

"Are you losers?"

"No, Sensei!"

"Are you nerds?"

"No, Sensei!"

"Are you sure?" Johnny tries

"No, Sensei!"

Jamie groans lightly as her head falls.

Jamie huffs as she starts to walk out of the junkyard. Johnny had put them through, what Jamie would describe, as the worst couple hours of her life.

She was sweaty, sore, and annoyed and wanted nothing more than to go home. Unfortunately, she heard someone jogging up to her.

"Hey, Jamie."

She turns and sees Miguel. Probably the last person she wanted to see right now, "Hey."

"We haven't really talked much lately." He shrugged, "Just wanted to know if everything was good."

"Yeah, why wouldn't it be?" She says as she turns to continue walking

Miguel frowns as he follows after her, "I don't know. Last time I remember us talking was the night at Golf-n-stuff." He chuckles lightly

Jamie shrugs, "Just been busy. Haven't had much time to talk."

"Oh. Okay, well, maybe we could hang out soon?" He smiles

"I don't know. Maybe." She mutters

Miguel stands in front of her, "You sure everything's okay?"

"Just peachy." She sighs with a fake smile. She looks over to see Sienna sitting in her car waiting to pick her up. "Gotta go. My ride's here." She says as she walks around him.

Miguel turns, "I'll see you later then."

Jamie turns as she makes it to the car and gives him a tight lipped smile. As she gets in, Sienna looks at Miguel who held a sad look.

"You're breaking his heart." Sienna chuckles

Jamie looks over, "What?"

"He looks like a kid who just found out Santa wasn't real." Sienna says, "You're telling me he has no interest at all." She scoffs

"He's with Sam. Trust me. No interest at all." She mutters

Jamie was really regretting letting Aisha convince her to come to the movies. Aisha failed to mention that she was gonna force her to sit next to Miguel.

She was sitting on his left as Aisha took the other side and Hawk sat at the end. Miguel had been moping since they got there and Hawk took interest in throwing popcorn at random people.

Aisha looked over at Miguel to see him still pouting and she had yet to figure out why.

"Hey, what's wrong?" She asks

"I can't stop thinking about what Sensei told me about Sam's dad." Miguel mutters. Jamie rolls her eyes.

"So Sensei and Sam's dad had some beef." Aisha shrugs, "What's that have to do with you?"

"Do I have to spell it out for you?" He scoffs as Jamie stares ahead, "Sam's dad hates Cobra Kai, I'm a part of Cobra Kai. So by the transitive property, Sam's dad is gonna hate me."

"Jesus Christ, you're such a nerd." Hawk says as he keeps throwing candy

"I'm telling you, it's not just on my mind. Sam was acting weird the other day when her dad walked by." Miguel says ignoring Hawk

"Mm." Aisha shakes her head, "Listen, I've known Mr. LaRusso since third grade. He's a really nice guy, you just have to talk to him."

"I haven't even been invited over yet. She's probably too afraid to introduce me." Jamie rearranges herself in her seat as her leg starts to bounce.

"Dude, just go over there. It's an alpha move." Hawk smirks

"Ew." Jamie whisper to herself before she stands up to leave. Miguel and Aisha watch her.

"Hey, what's wrong? Where are you going?" Aisha whispers

"Leaving before I lose my mind." Jamie whispers harshly as she turns to walk out

Miguel turns to Aisha as she sighs lightly. Hawk continues throwing candy before he finally hits someone. The man stands up, "Who the hell did that?"

Hawk turns back to the movie quickly as he eyes the man.

Jamie opens her apartment door to complete darkness.

"Jamie?" She hears as she locks the door

Her eyebrows furrow, "Mom?"

Jamie walks down the hall seeing her mom sit in her room, "Hey, sweetie."

"What are you doing here? I thought you had work."

"Well, I did, but Ms. Diaz told me that you and her boy were in karate together. Why didn't you tell me?"

Jamie sighs, "I didn't think you'd care honestly, and besides, it's nothing serious. I'm just barely getting the hang of it."

Jamie leaves to walk to her own room and her mom follows her.

"Sweetie, of course I care. If this is something you care about, then I wanna be there."

"Mom, it's fine, okay?" She says as she starts to take her jacket off, "It's no big deal."

"It is a big deal. I know I've been caught up with work for awhile and I'm sorry."

Her mom walks towards her as Jamie sits on her bed. Her mom takes the spot next to her, "But it's only because I wanna make sure you her everything you deserve. With your dad stationed out of the country, it's been hard."

Jamie exhales as she looks down at her hands.

Her mom takes her face in her hands, "I'm gonna be around more often. I know I can't make up for other times, but I wanna be here now."

Jamie smiles as she nods, "Isn't there a tournament soon?"

"Yeah." She shrugs

"Well, I'm gonna be there."

Jamie's eyes light up, "Really?"

"Of course." Her mom says retracting her hands, "As long as you want me there."

"Yeah." Jamie chuckles

"Okay. Then I'm there."

Her mom stands up as she makes her way towards the door, "I know you're gonna be amazing honey."

They smile at each other, "I'll try."

"Night sweetie." She says as her smile is still evident

"Night mom." She smiles back as her mom closes her door. Jamie sighs happily.
