it's all hitting tyler at once...and now she has a headache
Third Person's POV
It's been a couple days since Mary has moved out of Frank's house, Tyler couldn't be happier she woke up not hearing her cousin banging on her door wanting to wake her up. She looked at the clock on her phone and it was noon on the dot.
She flipped her phone back over as she stared at the ceiling as she's waiting for something. After a good ten minutes what she's waiting for doesn't happen. Then Tyler remembered...Mary isn't here to wake her up. For the first three nights she was happy and excited that her cousin wasn't her shadow every day of her life. But today it feels different not having a seven year old banging on her door to wake her up.
After the realization that Mary isn't here, she slowly gets up out of bed, as she also took notice that the house was quiet. Well, quieter than usual as that mentally told her that her father wasn't here. She fed Fred and tossed his pin ball which he caught and they played that game for about five minutes before Tyler put her head onto her hands. She didn't notice that her father had gotten back from the grocery store. What woke her up was her father setting a bag of food on the table in front of her.
Tyler shot her head up. "I'm up."
"Okay good." Frank said as Tyler yawned before putting the stuff in the bag away in the right places.
"Is it me or does it feel weird not having a seven year old annoying you? Or is that just me." Tyler asked him as she put the milk in the fridge.
"It does, this morning I was expecting her to wake me up. Like she did every morning." Frank said as Tyler nods her head.
"I waited on my bed like a fucking idiot waiting for her to come to my door waking me up." Tyler said as Frank tried not to laugh at hearing that, as she glared at him.
"But you love it." Frank said as they finished putting away the dishes, all Tyler did was just look at him like he's an idiot.
"Does it look like I am?" She asked him as she walked away back to her room to get dressed.

A student named Lijuan, copies a problem from a piece of paper to the blackboard. Seated at his desk is Seymore Shankland, a formidable looking professor with a round face and full white beard. Lijuan stops copying and looks confused.
"Doctor Shankland, this problem is..." Lijuan says to the professor.
"I know, just copy it exactly as you see it written." The professor said to the girl.
"But it's..." Lijuan says before the Professor interrupted her.
"Exactly as written, please." Shankland says.
Lijuan annoyed followed his orders and continues.
Evelyn leads Mary by the hand through a mass of students. "Some kind of crowded." Mary says as she is being squished between her grandmother and the students.
"Someday you'll go to school here. Here we are." Evelyn says as she opens the door and they walk in.
Evelyn and Shankland huddle near a window. They both steal glances, as Evelyn looks nervous and annoyed. The object of their interest, Mary stands before the blackboard, as she looks up at the problem.
Evelyn looks at Shankland and sees disappointment on his face as she whispers to him. "Don't be smug, Shankland."
"Se's had plenty of time." Shankland says.
"She traveled yesterday, slept in a strange bed, give her some..." Evelyn says as he cuts her off and walks away as she follows him. Shankland comes next to Mary, as he crouches down.
"So, Mary, I see you're looking at our little problem. So what do you think of it?" He asked her.
"Little? It's big." Mary says. "My cousin couldn't even figure this out. Then again she's always getting C's and D's." Mary says as Evelyn scoffs.
"Don't mention her ever. She's a no-good, lying, attitude, bratty girl. With that no-good boyfriend." Evelyn says as Mary rolls her eyes at her grandmother just like Tyler does.
"He smiles, then looks up at Evelyn with a condescending expression that aggravates her.
Evelyn hustles her out of the building. "Why are you so mad all of a sudden?" Mary asked her.
"First of all, you mentioned her, second of all I'm also mad at that pompous ass Shankland. We were just supposed to have a chat, and he ambushes us with that problem." Evelyn rambles.
"Yeah, and it was wrong." Mary says.
"What?" Evelyn asked her.
"Way wrong. He was all excited about it, and I was like thinking 'come on, read a book."
As if on cue, Evelyn grins as she hugs Mary, then pulls her by the arm back to the entrance. They reenter, as Mary is standing on a chair, erases the erroneous terms and writes in the correct ones. Shankland stares in awe at seeing the girl rewriting his problem that he had written down.
Evelyn watches with pride as her granddaughter finishes the problem.

A day later
Tyler and Frank pull up to the curb just as Mary and Evelyn emerge from the terminal, as they're both loaded with shopping bags.
"I'm lllloaded with swag." Mary says as Frank and Evelyn trade stares, as her confidence is off-putting.
They drive along the marina on Beach Drive. "I think this is stupid." Mary says.
"Well it isn't. It's actually very important." Frank says.
"Why don't we just call Evelyn and tell her I don't want to?" Mary complains as Tyler rolls her eyes as she rolls down her window.
"Can't, our fucking grandmother wants to make sure you're having a good life, so deal with it and move on." Tyler seethes as she isn't in the mood, as in her defense her father woke her up from her nap, so that's why she's cranky.
"Someone's cranky." Mary says as Frank shakes his head at her, as this is the typical banter between the two.
"So, again, what are you going to do?" Frank says continuing what Tyler said.
"Tell the truth, and not be like Tyler." Mary says as said Tyler rolls her eyes at her cousin.
"Exactly. Don't make up things you think they want to hear because they'll know you're lying. Right?" Frank asked her.
"Yeah." Mary says.
"And no goofing on them if they start to annoy you. You know how you are." Frank said as Tyler looks out the window trying not to listen to this conversation.
"Frank?"
"Mary?"
"Congrats, you two know each other's names, now move along." Tyler said as they both look at her, as she doesn't care.
"I like Evelyn, she looks like my mom, but I don't want to live with her. She's bossy." Mary says as Tyler scoffs at her cousin.
"Why do you like her? She's rude, crude, annoying." Tyler says as Mary went to thump her but Tyler caught her cousin's hand before it made contact with her head.
"Tyler Jade, knock it off." Frank scolded her as Tyler looked at him with her mouth gaped open and then it closed. He turns back to Mary. "I've heard that...don't worry, you're not going anywhere."
"Swear?" Mary asked him.
"I swear." Frank says as Tyler sighs as she knows that something is going to happen, but she doesn't want to jinx it.
"Okay. Still, this is going to suck."

While Mary and Frank were at her therapist office, Tyler was in the waiting room waiting for them, as she doesn't like therapists, and or psychiatrist's or anyone else in that field. She tried both of them after her mother died as she was still shaken of being in a car, and let alone remembering it brought tears to her face. Her time with a therapist and psychiatrist didn't last long. For fuck's sake it didn't even last a month. That just wasn't for Tyler, so she quit.
She know that she has built up anger and resentment, as her cousin was a baby when she moved in with her and her father. Maybe that's why a lot of time they're bickering and or fighting. So with Mary gone for a couple days it gave Tyler a chance to see the other side of it.
She still remembers vividly what happened through out her time with a therapist and a psychiatrist. She remembers it like it was yesterday. Which it was.
Tyler is seven and a half years old, as she sits down with her stuffed animal that her mother had given her when she was a baby. The therapist is asking her stupid questions, well the questions that she considers stupid.
"Are you mad at your mother? For going away?" Her therapist asked her as she had her arms crossed over her chest.
"She didn't 'go away', she was killed in a car accident." Tyler said to her therapist, as he cleared his throat.
"And does that make you feel angry at times." He asked her.
"No." Tyler flatly said to him, growing aggravated by these questions. They seem pointless to her.
"Do you ever blame yourself for what happened to your mother?" He asked her as future Tyler remembered that question like the back of her hand.
"Yes." She muttered under her breath as she head in a sob but it let out by itself, as she hurriedly got up and went to the bathroom before she caused a scene.
After she was sure that she was done crying, she dried up her tears, and looked in the mirror to check her reflection as she looked at her eyes as they looked red and puffy. She grabbed her sunglass from her pocket and put them over her head walked out of the bathroom like nothing happened.
Just as she did that her cousin walked out of those doors and followed her cousin out. "I'm not going to ask how it went because that'd be horseshit."
"It was actually."
"So I was right. Ten points for me." Tyler sarcastically says as Jaxon waited in the parking lot as they drove off back to the house to drop Mary off, and Tyler before he drove to the vet clinic.

Evelyn and her attorney walk from the parking lot. Some of the dregs of humanity are heading the other way. She passes a pair of redneck car thieves. Then she passes a couple of meth addicts. Then the tattooed strippers.
"It's not the head, it's the humanity."
