Twenty-Two
The elves all laughed at me. Figures at much. I tap my staff at the ground. The trees began to cry out and make noises. A tree root erupts from the ground and slams the rude earth elf into a building that crumbled.
"I did warn you." I say.
More tree roots erupted from the ground and slammed into a building that crumbled. Each building crumbled and dust thickens the air. The village was shattering as I breathe. I watch as the roots claim everything. Every house, every wooden structure, and every elf. Such a pity. I did warn them.
I watch as the elves were dragged into the ground. The roots wrap around them like pythons. Soon they will become the forest. Their bodies will become no more than a fertilizer for the trees and for every sprouting plant. The structures have fallen, and vines will claim them.
This is the first village to fall. Soon nature will reclaim what has been lost. I'm not going to let every plant, every leaf, every tree to continue screaming. It burns my head. It rots my mind. It'll drive me to the brink of craziness. I'm done running from the screams. Instead of running. I'm gonna answer them.
