"Maybe we can take five?" Eugene panted.

They've been trying and trying but their attempts fell like flies. Cass tried to hit it with her sword and her dagger, but both shattered like glass. Rapunzel's hair could not even crack the cross. 

"We have to think of something. How can we break this thing?" Cass said.  

Rapunzel was staring at the cross. The skull began to glow. She stared at it. It was like it was whispering into her ear. A soft whisper, a raspy whisper. It called to her.

"Confess your sins." It whispered.

What? Why do I hear it? Why do I hear it? Rapunzel thought.

"Say your regrets. Feed me and let me know you are at peace with those regrets." The skull whispered.

Rapunzel kept staring at the skull. 

"Blondie?" Eugene asked putting his hand on her shoulder. 

Rapunzel jumped. She turned to Eugene.

"What's wrong?" Eugene asked. 

"The skull in the center. I heard it. It wants us to confess our sins and regrets. It wants us to feed it." Rapunzel said.

"Well Blondie that sounds..." Eugene started.

"Sounded crazy but it's the only idea we have. I have a lot of regrets." Cass said.

"Me too." Rapunzel said.

"I have zero regrets except meeting Cassandra." Eugene said.

Rapunzel glared at him. Both of them did.

"Alright fine, let's do this." Eugene said.
