"Varian-" Dad said shaking me.

I woke up slowly. I spat out blood. My wounds were great. Everyone was looking around and at me. I let out a yawn. It was pouring. Thank God. I started drinking the rainwater. The bats were back drinking the blood. 

"Varian, what the hair was that?!" Eugene asked.

"Justice." I answer. 

Everything feels numb. I have forgotten the feeling of love and joy. No matter how much I want to I can't smile. I am just so tired. I want to rest. I want to sleep. 

"The princess told me what happened with you and Corona." Dad said.

I look away. Oh crap.

"Well technically-" Eugene started but Rapunzel nudged him. 

"This...is...my...punishment." I say.

"Varian, I am so sorry I wasn't there for you." Dad said.

"Because...of...me." I say. 

I trapped him in the amber substance. What was I thinking? Honestly what was I thinking?

"Do...you...know...what...this...place...is?" I ask.

"No, I am so confused." Eugene said.

"A... place...of...guilt...and... of...punishment." I say. 

"Varian you have to stop feeling guilty of yourself." Rapunzel said.

"I've... done... horrible things." I say.

Dad hugged me. I shut my eyes. So tired need to rest. Dad pulls on the chains. He starts pounding the cross I was tied to.

"Give him some time to sleep. He needs it." Rapunzel said.

Quirin sat down on a stump near me.

"Is anyone else going to question this place?" Cass said.

"How have I not seen this? Why was I so busy? I should've paid more attention to him." Dad said.

"Hey, it's not your fault." Rapunzel said.

"Don't worry we'll get him out of here." Cass said.
