º chapter ten º

Rainbow looked up into Sunset's worried eyes.

"I'm such a wuss," Rainbow said, sitting up.

"No, you're not," Sunset said. She took Dash's hand. "Rainbow, you handled that situation the best way I could have imagined. I can't even begin to think about how hard that must have been for you to tell your parents. You're anything but a wuss," Sunset had tears in her eyes, and Dash did too.

After a happy ten seconds of silence, Dash sighed, "Well, what now?"

"It's just gone eleven o'clock, so it's a little early for lunch...." Sunset was interrupted by a spam of messages from her phone. She rolled her eyes. Totally ruined the moment.

Of course, both girls weren't surprised to find the messages were from '?' and the texts were all screenshots of supposed text conversations between ? and Rainbow Dash.

"I've had enough of this!" Rainbow yelled. She then pulled out her own phone, dialled a number, and started pacing around the park while the phone rang.

"AJ! Where are you?" Rainbow asked into the phone. Sunset observed as Dash continuously rolled her eyes.

"Come meet me and Sunset, at SugarCube Corner, in at least fifteen minutes." Rainbow finished, ending the call. She then grabbed Sunset's arm to pull her up, and before anything else could be said, they were headed towards the cafe.

"I really think this is a bad idea, but..." Sunset began.

"This is the only way we are gonna prove it's Applejack who's been sending you these messages. No but's," Rainbow said. The girls took a seat in the booth. They didn't get anything to eat or drink, but they awaited Applejack's arrival patiently. When the farmgirl finally burst through the doors, Sunset felt Rainbow Dash tense up. She put her hand on her thigh.

"Hey y'all. Something wrong?" Applejack started. Before she could sit down to join the girls, Rainbow began climbing over Sunset's legs to get out of her seat.

"Do not play innocent with us!" Rainbow yelled. Sunset observed both Mrs Cake's and AJ's startled face.

"Dash, calm down," she said, reaching to put her hand on her girlfriend's arm, however Dash slapped it away.

"Ah think ah missed somethin'" Applejack began.

Sunset cleared her throat, "Uhm, guys. Can we...uh... go outside and talk about this please..."

They silently followed Sunset's instructions and headed towards a small grassy area nearby.

"Rainbow a Dash, ah'm sorry but ah have nothin' to say to ya. I don't have a clue what yer on about," AJ shook her head, looking over at Sunset who had her hands covering her face in shame.

"You have been messaging my girlfriend for the past few days, and I know why. Do you wanna know what I think. I think it's because you're too selfish to understand that I've moved on from you Applejack. You don't want me to be with Sunset because you're jealous," Rainbow yelled.

"Okay, okay, now calm down," Sunset sighed, but Applejack was pondering on something.

"Say what now? Girlfriend? Since when?" Applejack said. Neither of the girls answered her statement.

"AJ, I'm sorry... but if you wanted to talk about Rainbow Dash, and warn me or whatever it was you texted   me about, you really didn't need to do it anonymously," Sunset smiled, somewhat sympathetically at Applejack. She spoke in a much more peaceful tone compared to Rainbow's previous outburst.

Applejack tipped her hat, "Well, you see... Ah really wish ah could understand what on earth you two are nattering about, cause if ah'm being honest, ah haven't the slightest clue what ya just said."

      Sunset and Dash exchanged glances.

"Open your phone, go on to your text messages, without deleting anything," Rainbow instructed the beyond confused farm girl.

Applejack showed the girls as she opened her phone. There was no suspicious messages what so ever. She then went into her photos. No screenshots or anything. This meant that their assumptions were wrong.

"So, you don't know about any anonymous texts?" Sunset asked. Rainbow was annoyed that her search wasn't successful as she handed AJ's phone back.

"Ah mean, no. But ah can help y'all if you need me to figure out who the anonymous texter is," Applejack smiled.

Rainbow Dash shook her head before Sunset could butt in.
"No thanks, we've got this," Dash smugly grinned, "Thanks AJ! Come on Sunset." Rainbow started walking off. Sunset turned to follower her after giving Applejack a look, and sighing. AJ just nodded, she didn't appear to be bugged by the situation.

"I don't understand who this person could be!" Rainbow groaned once the pair had walked a little further out of sight. She was so determined to find out who the texter was.

Sunset sighed, "Dash, look, why don't we take a break, and grab some lunch? We'll figure it out, but we've been searching almost everyday now. Let's just... y'know, talk about other stuff?"

Dash looked up at her girlfriend. "Yeah, sure!" she smiled. The pair found a fast food place not far from where they were. They got their food and sat on a local park bench.

"You're amazing," Sunset sighed happily, watching Dash gobble down her food.

"Thanks!" she replied with a mouth full of food. She then took time to swallow, before saying any more, "Sorry, sorry. That was rude. Heh. You're awesome too. I literally wouldn't be able to cope today if it weren't for you."

They exchanged smiles, before finishing their food and clearing up.

"You good to go?" Rainbow asked. Sunset nodded to confirm and the two began walking around town for bit.

Not long after, Dash's phone rang. She picked up, but she put it on speaker. When she saw it was her dad who was calling her, she glanced worryingly at Sunset.

    "Hello?" Dash answered.

— "Hi Rainbow. I want you to come and clear up your stuff. Take your essentials please." a low voice commanded from the other end of the line.

Sunset closed her eyes for a moment and breathed out. Rainbow scoffed. So Bow was really kicking her out, for good. Did her mom have any say in it? Probably not.

"Ok, we'll come in two or so hours," Dash told her dad before hanging up.

Sunset put her arm around Rainbow's shoulder. "You ok?"

"Yeah, I guess the shock has only just really hit me. Like, the reality of all of this. It just doesn't make sense. My parents were always telling me to be the best person I can be, and they were so supportive of me. I don't know what happened...."

"Sometimes you don't know what to expect. Life always takes so many turns, but, I'll always be here for you," Sunset smiled.

"I know. Thank you. I guess once I get my stuff I can crash with you. I don't mean to be clingy, but I don't mean to be homeless either," Rainbow chuckled.

Sunset laughed with her, "Yeah of course! If you don't mind sleeping on the sofa though..."

"Nah, I would expect a proper bed. This girl needs her sleep," Rainbow laughed.

Sunset playfully rolled her eyes. "Don't push it," she laughed.

______
Roughly an hour passed before the duo decided it was best to get the moving out over and done with. They headed to Dash's place, and without greeting her parents went straight up to the bedroom.

"Do you wanna bring all your clothes?" Sunset asked, before she opened the wardrobe and laughed to only find about three t-shirts crumpled in the back, and some shorts and jeans.

"Yeah, there's not a lot. Don't judge me ok, I'm not the tidiest person on the planet," Rainbow laughed.

"I can see that..." Sunset picked up the clothes and popped them in the suitcase. Rainbow Dash fiddled through her collection of books and CD's. Some were worth keeping, but some weren't, so she left a few. She looked through her drawers and slipped her notepad into her pocket, unseen by Sunset.

They gathered the final essentials from the bathroom, and Dash kept a few snacks, and when they were done headed for the front door. When they left, Windy gave Sunset a little smile, which she tried to return, but couldn't bring herself to.

When they were outside, Rainbow chuckled. "That was wayyy to fast for my brain to process, but I'm glad it's done..." she sighed.

"I agree. Let's head back to mine then... or ours rather. It's not a perfect apartment, but it's suitable." Sunset smiled. Rainbow was eternally grateful, so she didn't care what Sunset's apartment looked like, as long as it was liveable.
