º chapter fifteen º

The week was midway there, and Wednesday breezed over. Sunset actually spent most of the day with Twilight. Both girls found it nice to not keep any secrets from eachother. According to Twilight, the only thing that Sunset ever talks about is Rainbow Dash. Twilight had learned to accept the fact that they were a couple, and she couldn't, and shouldn't, stop that.

It was gym class, fifth and final period of the day. Sunset and Dash had it together.

"Let's have a race. When we get out there, two laps around the field," Dash smirked. She pulled her skort down after realising it was folded at the top, so everyone could see everything, which made her face turn a little red...

Sunset smirked back. "Ok... but the field is huge!"

"Are you forfeiting?!" Rainbow scoffed, causing Sunset to chuckle.

"No, no... just... Okay let's go!" she laughed. The pair jogged down to the field, and when they got there they set down their bottles. They then stood at the starting lines, and began racing around the field, much to the other student's amusement, and curiosity.

Rainbow Dash turned out to be significantly faster than Sunset, but that didn't stop her from trying. By the end, she was so out of breathe she couldn't stand up.

"Hehe! I win!" Rainbow yelled. She helped Sunset up and kissed the top of her hand while doing so. Sunset blushed. She'd been blushing a lot lately, more than usual.

"I love you Rainbow Dash. Really, I do," Sunset smiled. She'd never believed those words would leave her personal thoughts. This time, Rainbow was the one blushing.

"Awww... I love you too!" she grinned, letting her girlfriend embrace her in one of her warm hugs.

"Barf!" one of the students, Trixie Lulamoon, yelled. The duo laughed and joined the group for their lesson.

One the lesson was over, the school day was too. Sunset and Rainbow Dash made their usual trip back home, and continued their usual schedule, until Sunset had a thought. The pair were sitting together on the couch when Sunset suddenly paused the show, forcing a groan out of Rainbow Dash.

"Oh come on! Really?" Rainbow complained.

Sunset shook her head and laughed, "Yes really. Get up. Let's go out."

Dash glanced at the girl in a confusing way, but didn't ask questions and she stood up and grabbed her trainers.

"So, I was thinking... we go on a little walk, through the woods. Nothing too exciting, but—" Sunset began as the girls hovered in the doorway.

"No, that'd be awesome. Let's go!" Rainbow smiled.

And so the pair went off. Even though it was breaching on summer, the nights were still cold. It was still afternoon so the sun was still high, but they brought jackets just in case.

They came to the conclusion that they wouldn't follow the path and just walk anywhere. Maybe they would end up lost, but it wouldn't matter to them, because they were together.

The sticks and branches beneath them cracked upon every step. They walked slowly.

"So, what's been on your mind lately?" Sunset asked, even though her own mind was drifting.

"You, obviously..." Rainbow smirked. Sunset nudged her playfully.

"I mean like, are you still... y'know, upset about your parents? About Twilight and the texts?" Sunset glanced at Dash who had been kicking a stone across the ground for a while now.

"Well, of course. It's still just weird to think that my parents could be that way. I still... love them though... and I know they still care about me.... somewhere deep in their hearts.... very deep down..." Rainbow scoffed. She had one last kick of that stone and sent it into the trees.

"Yeah, well, I'm here to protect you no matter what anyone does," Sunset smiled. Dash linked her arms with the beautiful girl next to her, and they both looked into each other's eyes, grinning.

Rainbow nodded, "Of course! But, me too. I'll be here when you need me."

"Yeah, I know," Sunset chuckled. However, a rustle in the bushes behind them interrupted their conversation. Typical, it was like a movie scene.

"Who goes there?" Rainbow jumped forward and held her hands out in front of her, "Show yourself."

This made Sunset double over laughing. The rustling continued, and then a figure appeared. A familiar figure.

    Twilight Sparkle.
"Hey guys, fancy seeing you here!" Twilight chuckled.

"Yep, so did you follow us from Sunset's place or...?" Rainbow began, and Sunset nudged her, this time not so playfully.

"Dash, lay off," Sunset shook her head.

"It's ok, I'll leave you two be anyways. I was just... clearing my head out here. It's nice, isn't it?" Twilight wondered, smiling.

"Yeah yeah, now.. could you leave us be?" Rainbow requested, however she didn't say it in a tone as if Twilight had a choice, so the poor girl pushed her glasses up and walked away, after subtly waving to the pair.

When Twilight was fully out of sight, Sunset raised her eyebrows. "What?! Why were you being horrible to her? Haven't we forgiven her?"

Rainbow shrugged, "I guess. But one apology isn't gonna fix it."

"Dash, I was the target! She apologised! Can't you just stop being so selfish for once?!" Sunset said, raising her voice at her girlfriend, who suddenly backed down. Dash was in a state that a Sunset had never seen before. She didn't mean to yell, and when she saw the tears in Rainbow's eyes, she felt immediate regret. Rainbow a Dash hadn't ever felt that way either. Nothing usually got to her that bad, but when Sunset yelled at her, it was different.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry! I really did not mean that... I just.... I just got raged..." Sunset said, holding her hand against her forehead, beginning to panic that she'd done something that couldn't be undone easy enough.

Rainbow cleared her throat, "It's...ok. Just took me by surprise. Wasn't your fault anyway, I need to learn to let things go..." she said, thinking of how she could treat Twilight better.
Her thoughts however were interrupted by a text, this time from her mom.

Hey sweetie. Please, could you come back to the house. We need to talk, and bring Sunset along too if you can
- mom x

On reading it, Rainbow immediately showed it to Sunset, who nodded. "I think we should go. I mean, maybe she and your dad want to apologise."

"I don't wanna speak to them..." Dash pouted.

"Weren't you just saying that you need to learn to let things go? Well now would be a good time to start."

Rainbow Dash looked at Sunset, and finally nodded. "Ok, but stay with me the entire time, right?" Rainbow asked Sunset as she grabbed her hand.

Sunset squeezed it, "Of course. Come on, let's go." She smiled.

The girls made their way to Dash's house... or rather, where she used to live... Rainbow rang the doorbell hesitantly, but as promised, Sunset stood by her side and comforted her. Windy Whistles arrived promptly at the door, and smiled at the girls as they walked into the house. It was a weird atmosphere for Dash. She had already got so used to living at Sunset's home, and yet this place still felt, comforting... in a way...

"Hi girls. Please, sit," Windy gestured to the sofa. She took a seat opposite the girls, who sat very close to each other. Not purposely, just habit.

"So..." Rainbow said, propping her feet up on the coffee table. "What's... going on?"

Windy cleared her throat, "Dash, your dad and I are.... taking a break, per say," she stated. Rainbow cocked her eyebrow, as did Sunset.

"L-like a divorce?" Dash asked, her voice quivering, but she felt a squeeze at her hand. Sunset knew how it felt to have family struggles. She herself hadn't seen or heard from her mother in far too long for a healthy relationship, but she didn't complain. In fact, Sunset couldn't ask for anything better; she loved her life as it was. However, she knew this would be hard on Rainbow Dash.

"Oh sweetie... n-not a divorce... just, a break," Windy smiled.

"But what does that mean?!" Rainbow huffed. She crossed her legs and fidgeted on the sofa.

Her mom pouted, "I know you're upset honey. Your father has gone to live with his parents, your grandparents..." she sighed, "After the way he treated you two, I couldn't bare to be involved with him. Until he can prove he's worth it, I don't want to speak to him..." Windy crosses her arms.

Both younger girls smiled, Dash with less effort. She did love her dad, deep down. It was a shock the way he reacted when Rainbow came out to him, but, she knew that Bow still loved him too.

"Thank you mom..." Rainbow sighed, reaching over and holding her mom's hand. Sunset nodded and smiled with them.

Windy scoffed, "I'm so sorry for not sticking up for my self... I've just, always found it hard," she shook her head, tears beginning to form in her eyes. She continued, "I love you so much sweetie, no matter who you are. Dad loves you too. I'm so proud about what you did. You were so brave." She held her hand tighter, and now Rainbow had tears forming.
Windy then turned to face Sunset, "And of course you, Sunset. Ever since Dashie's been and Canterlot High she's been non-stop talking about you and how great and talented you are. We're so lucky to have you as our family. Dash is such a lucky girl."

This broke down the normally sensible and calm Sunset Shimmer, and soon enough, tears were streaming down each of their faces. They were happy tears though, tears of forgiveness and hope. Rainbow Dash smiled. Her and a Sunset really were better together.

A/N
Nooo I just realised this sounds like an ending!

It's not.

Well it can be, if the story is getting tiring. I do have a few plans to add things, but this is a nice ending. I don't want it to be too long, but I'm in love with storyline... lol....

Anyway, let me know, should I continue, or end it there? It's up to the readers, not me.. so please opinionate.

Opinionate is not a word, but it sounds professional.

Also can I just share with you what my plan for this chapter looked like, because even if you don't care, I wanna share.... 🎵....
(Yes I preplan every chapter don't judge me)

Amusing...

Anyways, I've come to the conclusion that the book is on hiatus (or finished) until further notice (aka no more school)

Good day amazing readers! :)
