Chapter Seventeen: A Fox's Sin

Nick: Good luck Casey. I know you'll do great!

Casey: Do you think they'll like my voice?

Nick: Of course they will! Anyone who hates it doesn't know the sound of an angel.

Casey: Thanks, little bro! You always know how to cheer me up!

Nick: Only a way of saying thanks to the best sister ever! I should go now, they'll probably call you anytime now.

Casey: Okay, see ya, Nicky!

Casey: I wish mom was here. But, even if she's always busy, it's only to be able to feed me and Nick.

The show began and they called their first contestant. The teacher that was calling the students up to present their show in the Talent Show was the same teacher that hated Casey. The poor fox never knew why, but the badger was mean to any fox that came to her class. One by one all the students came to the stage and acted, sang, drew, and did many other tricks and shows. All, but Casey. The teacher never called her. Even when the show was over and all the kids went to take a bow on stage, Casey wasn't allowed to.

Casey: Um, Ms. Stripetail, why am I not allowed to go on stage?

Lorine Stripetail: Ugh really? Do you not have any sense at all, fox? Your voice is TERRIBLE. If I let you on, the other students and parents would've been deaf! Don't go and do things you know you won't EVER be able to do! Don't try you little "singing" on stage. Or your ugly little drawings, either! And if you think a dumbhead like YOU would ever become a good spy, then say bye-bye to that little dream of yours! The show's over so you are dismissed now. Just go home and stop trying to make my day worse! NOW!

Lorine walked away to go dismiss all the other students and left the tiny red fox alone to cry.

"What did I ever do to them?", the fox whispered. Casey was in her bedroom. Her brother and Judy had a night shift to do so she was alone tonight. Casey was a spy so unless any cops needed her, she didn't really have to do much. She was Nick and Judy's personal spy, so if they need any spies, Casey would be their first choice. And when they didn't she'd usually have something else to do. But never night shifts. Casey remembered how Clawhauser had sent the video of her singing on ZooTube and that caused her to remember the reason why she was so afraid of anyone hearing her singing. Lorine was always mean to her. She caused Casey to hate her so much that she just lost all her respect from Casey that she doesn't even bother to call her Ms anything. She didn't deserve to go be a teacher if she would crush everyone's dream like that. Casey didn't really care about what Lorine said to her as she grew up, but all her bullies in Zootopia and India did. There were so many mammals telling her she was terrible, that she believed them. "The only thing I did to them was be a savage fox. Is it really such a big sin that they need to hate me? It's not like I asked to be born with that burden.", she said. The ZPD and the SD might like her strange ability, but no one else outside of her friends and family did. Everything was blamed on her. Just because she was a savage. Zootopia might start accepting her if she won their trust, but Casey could never accept herself. That was her problem. No matter how amazing Nick tells her she is, she never thinks it's true. She never thought that she was a good sister, friend, or daughter. She never thought she was talented and still can't figure out why Chief Bogo and the SD's chief, Mellissa Scratcher would let her join. She never thought she was good enough for anything. That's what everyone would tell her. And anyone who told her she was amazing was just wasting their time. The only mammals Casey truly trusted was her mom, Nick, and now Judy. She's opened up to Judy and noticed that the bunny was really sympathetic towards her and never judged. But that still didn't convince her that anyone else thought it was real. To her, the only reason her friends and family said anything nice was because they pitied her. She trusts them to tell them secrets, but never took their compliments seriously. Casey's fear of being rejected grew so much, that her biggest bully became herself. Everyone thinks being bullied is dangerous. It is, but bulling yourself is even worse. You become your own worse nightmare.

Author: Hey peeps! FINALLY UPDATES! Yeah, I had some trouble on how this chapter was gonna play out. I finally agreed on this story so it'd be a little deep into Casey's reasons as to why she's shy to sing. And no, it didn't happen to me. I'm just shy to sing because I'm afraid of messing up or making the wrong move and look like a fool. I wanted Casey's reason to be more tragic to show how much she's been through, and then show how positive she stays to others. But this is it. I'll see which story to update next and I'll see ya later peeps. Author Out! *dabs*
