Chapter Four: Who's The Fox?

It was a long and exhausting day for the two cops. Judy was getting ready to go to Nick's house next door. It was a Friday so that meant it was Friday Movie Night. It's something Nick and Judy and sometimes their other friends do to spend quality time together. Tonight it was just Nick and her. Just the two of them. Judy looked at her desk. It was full of pictures of her family and her friends, from Bunnyborrow and from here. She sighed as she looked over at a picture of Nick and her. It was the first day at the ZPD for Nick. He was wearing his police uniform and so was she. They were gathered around with Clawhauser, a few other friends, and even Bogo. Time does seem to fly by, she thought. As she snapped out of her trance, she noticed that it was almost time for the movie night to begin. Just 5 minutes left. Oh sweet cheese and crackers! I better go! Judy grabbed her phone and headed next door over to Nick
Judy knocked on the wooden door, her fuzzy paws feeling the hard and rough texture of the wood. The door opened, revealing a tall, smirking fox. "Hey Carrots! You're here and on time!", Nick greeted. The bunny smirked back at him.
"I'm always on time! I just wish you were to work!", she replied.
" What? Me, being late? That could never happen!" Nick said as he dramatically put his paw over his chest. The two got inside and chose a movie. Nick asked Judy to wait for a while. He had something to do before they could start. Judy patiently and curiously waited.
Five minutes had passed after Nick went to his room. Judy's curiosity increased about the fox's behavior. What could be taking him so long? She got up from the couch and quietly crept to Nick's room to see what he's doing.
"So your coming tomorrow, right?", she heard Nicks voice say that. Who is he talking to? Then she heard another voice. It wasn't a voice she recognized.
"Yeah, but did you tell her about me? Does Judy know I'm coming?". It was the voice of a young female.
"No, not yet. I wanted to surprise her. That's why I never let you guys meet."
"I can't wait! It's been such a long time since I saw you Nick! I didn't hug you for too long! I WILL SHOWER YOU WITH HUGS WHEN I COME HERE!". Hugs!? She's gonna hug him? Calm down Judy. Maybe they're just friends. She had never told Nick how she really felt about him. She's just afraid that it could sabotage their  friendship if he doesn't love her back.
"Well I'll be ready to be choked, Casey. But I gotta go now. Can't keep Judy waiting for too long. See you tomorrow at the airport. Bye!"
"Okay, bye Nick! Love ya!"
"Love you, too Casey."
LOVE!? I didn't know Nick had a girlfriend! This definitely can't be just a friend. Well, if he's taken, there's nothing left to do. I don't wanna ruin his relationship for my one-sided love! No, that would be selfish! And you, Judy Hopps, are not selfish! I'll just have to get over him and help him have a good time. Judy was torn inside. She felt like some monster ripped her heart out of her little chest and shred it into pieces. She wasn't willing to let go of Nick, but she didn't want to be a bad friend and break them up either. The little bunny chose that it's best if they stay friends. Or at least best for Nick.
Judy and Nick were both eating popcorn while watching Trolls. Nick would've never chose this movie, but since it was Judy's turn to pick, she picked this one. Nick seemed to be enjoying the movie, but Judy was still torn over the fact that he already belongs to someone. She loved him ever since she knew his past. They were the same, yet so different. She loved everything about him. He was the only one who understood her. He was always there when she needed him. He became a part of her. Not just her life, but her as a person. Without him, she would feel incomplete and lost. She wanted to scream. She wanted to confront him and yell at him. She wanted to tear those two apart just like they did with her heart. But she didn't. She kept quiet. She wanted to be there for him like he was for her. She still has him as a friend, and she's not willing to lose that. So she kept her feelings hidden. She acted like she heard nothing. After the movie was over, Judy was getting ready to go home just has Nick came over to her.
"Hey, Carrots, do you wanna come with me to the airport tomorrow?"
"Yeah, sure Nick. But why?", the bunny responded. Acting like nothing happened.
"Well, I have a very close friend coming over to Zootopia from India. She knows about you and is dying to meet you. I wanted to keep it a surprise for you."
"Okay! I'll be there. What time?"
"10:00 in the morning. Don't miss it!"
"Don't worry! I'm not Nick that I'm gonna be late! See ya there, dumb fox! Can't wait to meet her."
It ached Judy's heart to say those words, but she said them to make him happy. After she went home, she flopped on to the bed and started crying. After a moment of tears, the little bunny dozed off to sleep.
