Chapter Eight: Finnic

It was still morning and Nick wouldn't have been up if Casey didn't wake him to ask him if she could go over to Judy's place. He didn't mind though. He was glad that the two were getting along. He was about to turn on the TV when he heard a knock on the door. Back so early? Thought Casey said she'd stay there for a while. He went over and opened the door, expecting to see his sister, but he didn't see anyone. "Down here.", said a deep and familiar voice. Nick looked down to see a small, light colored fox with big ears looking at him. "Finnic!?", Nick exclaimed. He wasn't expecting to see the fox appear today. "The one and only!", Finnic said as he hugged the fox. "You a real cop now huh?"
"Yeah. Does that bother you?"
"Course not. But can I ask ya somethn?"
"Sure!"
"Do ya think you can open a legal pizza and ice cream store for me. I wanna change. Now that I know that not all mammals think the same way of us, I wanna change too!"
"Uh sure! Anything for you pal!", Nick replied.
After a while of chatting Finnic took his leave. He said a friend rented him a place to stay for a while. Nick bid goodbye but was still shocked at the small fox's behavior. Did he really change? Was this a trick? Or was he telling the truth? Nick did trust Finnic, but it was so hard to believe that the fox actually changed. He wanted to change like Nick. Well if it is true, he should start saving money and looking for a good shop to give Finnic. This was so unlike him! Finnic would've never done this, but then again. He only became a con artist because he thought that what the bullies said were right. Maybe he had a change of heart like Nick did. He was still so confused. What if this was a trick? What would happen to him and Judy? What would happen to Casey? But he's Finnic's best friend. He has to help him
