Chapter Twelve
Taurus POV
Meanwhile, at The Rabbit Hole, things were going much smoother--for the moment.
I arrived with my group; Virgo, Cancer, Aries and Libra. The Rabbit Hole was just as I expected it to be. A one story building with the club in the basement, big neon blinking signs, and it reeked of alcohol. The one weird thing was, there was no line.
I leaned over to Libra as we walked and asked her this. "Uh, Libra."
"Yes?"
"This is supposed to be a night club right? So where are the people?"
Libra pauses and ponders this before giving me an answer. "Well, I know this club is the most exclusive club in the city as well as the surrounding cities, so maybe it's just too expensive for people?"
I shrugged and sighed before directing my attention towards the building again. Something still didn't seem right.
"Come here!" Aries shouts beckoning a hand towards us. Virgo hits him on the head before shushing him. Cancer, Libra and I walk towards them into the narrow alley. Cancer looks between everyone, rubbing his hands excitedly. "Alright so what's the plan?"
Aries smirks. "Wow Cancer, I didn't think you'd be so excited for a break and entry."
Cancer rolls his eyes. "Hardy har har. If you didn't know, I do like a bit of excitement in my life."
Aries grins. "Okay, so when this whole rescue mission is over, do you want to help me break into this joint again?"
Cancer gives him a horrified expression. "No way are you kidding?!" He lowers his voice. "That's illegal."
We all laugh before getting back to the task at hand. "So what's the plan?" I repeat.
Virgo looks us all in the eye, grinning evilly before telling us her brilliant plan. "So, I heard in the news that a big fight broke out here a few days ago, meaning they probably have a lot of broken cups."
"So?" Cancer asks confused, speaking for all of us. Virgo sighs. "So, they need more glasses and cups and stuff. I brought some jumpsuits with a fake delivery logo on them. We'll pretend to be delivering more glassware and, boom, we're in."
Aries nods excitedly. "Yes let's do it. Sounds risky. Sounds fun."
Libra had the opposite reaction. "Are you kidding there is no way we're doing that. Those people will see right through us!"
"Come one Libra, loosen up. We're doing this for Pisces." Aries says swinging an arm around her. "Besides do you have another plan?"
"Well--" She is interrupted by my phone ringing, extremely loud might I add. I take my phone out of my pocket and see I have a text from Capricorn. I tell my fellow teammates what they said. "Capricorn and the others made it into The Rage."
"And they're safe? Thank goodness." Cancer says smiling. Aries shakes his head. "No, not good."
"Why?" Libra asks starting to get panicky. "Is some unknown danger waiting for them? We should go save them."
Aries puts his hands out to get her to stop rambling. "No, I'm sure they're fine. But the problem is....I can't let that Lion get in and out before us!!"
"Leo?" I ask. "Why not?"
"Because then he'll just brag about how his team is better than ours because they managed to get inside their club first!" Aries says throwing his arms in the air. I hear a groan.
"Are you kidding Aries? We're on the same side." Virgo says. "Who cares who made it in first?"
"I do!" Aries says. Then he takes Virgo's bag. "Come one we're doing your plan now. We have to get inside."
Virgo throws me a frustrated look. I just chuckle. If Aries' competitive nature is what is going to get us inside, then so be it.
~~~
The five of us get inside and we deposit our jumpsuits and hats in the boys bathroom, since boys are less likely to care as to why clothes there are in their washroom. Boys just go in to go then get out as fast as they can. Or at least, I do.
Libra jumps around excitedly, her eyes darting at everything they can. Despite the misleading image of no line outside, the inside of the club was packed with people. She turns to us with stars in her eyes. "Okay, so what are we doing? Are we going to split up to stay together?"
I look over at Virgo and find she is looking at me. We both nod, knowing what each other is thinking. I say it first. "We should split up."
"Noo!" Cancer says suddenly clinging onto my arm. My eyes widen and I take him by the shoulders. "What happened!? Are you hurt, are you dying, do you need an ambulance, do you need your mom, do--"
Cancer shakes his head interrupting me. "No, I'm fine Taurus."
"Than why did you dramatically scream?" Aries asks raising an eyebrow. Cancer smiles sheepishly. "Well, we just can't split up."
"Why?" Libra asks. Cancer makes a duh-expression on his face. "If we split up, we die. That's what always happens in the movies."
"Cancer, we're not going to die. That stuff only happens in horror movies." Virgo says exasperated. Cancer shrugs. "Well don't blame me when we find you all bloodied up an hour from now...."
Libra's face goes pale, along with mine. "M-maybe we should stick together." She stutters. I nod quickly, trying not to act too scared. Aries sighs. "Fine, we'll search the club together."
"Look for anyone suspicious, or for anyone who seems magical." Virgo says wiggling her eyebrows when she says 'magical'.
She walks on ahead and I start walking to catch up with her. Cancer, Aries and Libra follow suit. As we're walking I begin to notice how strange everyone there looked. Everyone had strange colored skin, and unusual hairstyles. Another seemed at actually be glowing like a light bulb. I whisper to Virgo out of the side of my mouth.
"Why does everyone look so- so--"
"Odd?" She finishes my sentence and I nod. She shrugs. "I don't know. Maybe it's dress-up-like-a-weirdo night."
I laugh. The five of us continue to search the club intensely. After a while I hear Aries and Libra start up a conversation. In attempt to lighten up the darkened mood I start to talk to Virgo.
"So, how are you?"
"How am I?" Virgo gives me a confused look. "Fine, I guess."
"Oh, that's good." I say my eyes darting nervously. Out of my peripheral vision I can see her looking at me curiously-- trying to figure me out.
"Okay then..." She goes back to searching the crowds. Her face scrunches up and she jerks her chin in the direction she is looking, prompting me to face that way as well. "What the heck is that?" I ask.
She playfully hits my arm. "Taurus, that's rude."
What we're looking at is a middle aged woman with rainbow-coloured hair in a messy bun, closely resembling icing on a cupcake. She is wearing an extremely fluffy dress, ballooning at the hips and stopping at her knees; starting at her knees are boots the colour of swamp green. Her face is coated in glitter, with glitter stuck in her eyebrows, stuck in her wrinkles, and stuck in her three eyelids.
"But just look at--is that a her?-- she's not human." I exclaim. She raises an eyebrow. "Why? Is it because of the way she's dressed?"
"No! It's because of her- her third eyelid." I say my eyes widening at the realization. "Why does she have three eyelids?"
Virgo smiles nervously, fear replacing the clam expression on her face. She repeats my earlier statement. "What the heck is that?"
I don't answer her. In this moment of silence I hear Aries shout loudly. "GUYS."
Virgo and I turn around to find him looking irritated. "Libra has been trying to get your attention for the past five minutes."
I turn my attention to the blonde standing beside him. Her face flushed with embarrassment but she continues to talk.
"Guys, we lost Cancer." She says holding up his baseball cap. I gasp despite myself. He never takes that cap off unless, well, he has to.
"Are you kidding! Where did he go, when did we lose him?" Virgo asks her gaze landing on Aries as if he is to blame for this. The tall male catches on to this and with an irritable expression on his face he puts his hands up defensively. "It's not my fault. If you and Taurus hadn't been flirting up there maybe you would've noticed."
Our faces go red. Virgo doesn't yell but her tone of voice changes from frustration to anger. "Well it's not my fault either!"
I put an hand on Virgo's arm and gives Aries a calm-down type look. "Arguing is not going to solve any of this."
Libra nods holding up Cancer's hat again. "Taurus is right. The only we'll be able to find him is if we, well, actually look for him."
All of a sudden a crackle of static fills the air and the five of us turn our attention towards the ceiling which I assume was the source of the noise. After a few more static crackles a voice comes over a speaker. The voice has a fun-loving tone to it and the person speaking sounded like a man who was super excited-- or a man who was drunk.
"Hey everybody! It's that time of the night again. It's time to BOP."
I look at my friends, a perplexed look on face. "Bop?"
They shrug and we look around at the other guests. No one else seems to be confused. "Let's do what they're doing." I say. "So we blend in."
Everyone nods and we look at the other people and copy their actions; I watch them bend at their waist and brush the floor with their hands so I bend at my waist and brush the floor with my hands, I watch them pull up their sleeves and make animal noises so I pull my sleeves up to my elbows then quack like a duck, I watch as they morph into half-animal and half-humans so I- wait, what?
I shoot an alarmed look at Aries who was standing closest to me and even he can't cover up his shock. "Sorry, I don't think we can blend in any more." He says.
We hear a shriek from behind us. Aries and I turn to find a half octopus half human trying to talk to Libra. He has his tentacles reaching out toward her while she is slowly backing away. Aries, before I can react, storms up to the guy and stands between him and Libra.
The octopus guy glares at him. "What are you doing?" He asks, with a voice that sounds like it is underwater.
Aries, suddenly remembering who he was going up against, paused before saying. "I'm making sure you don't touch my- my friend."
The octopus guy smirks then hisses, spraying some sort of sticky liquid at Aries through his teeth. Aries puts his hands up and wipes his face, disgusted, before shouting, "Dude! What are you doing?"
"How do you not know what I'm doing? I'm challenging you. That is how we fight here at The Rabbit Hole."
Aries' eyes widen and Libra puts a hand on his shoulder. "Come on Aries, let's just go..."
"No." He says wriggling out of her grasp. "No, he challenged me so I-I'm gonna fight him."
Then he takes a step forward and fights. Well, he hisses spraying spit at the octopus guy which isn't nearly as effective as the octopus guy's sticky liquid.
Finally after a few rounds of hissing, spitting and me nearly throwing up, Aries gives up on fighting by the octopus guy's rules. He takes a glass from a nearby counter, interrupting what seemed to be a very important conversation between two turtle-people (although it didn't seem to be getting anywhere), and splashes the drink in his opponent's face.
The octopus guy groans and puts his tentacles to his face, trying to wipe the drink from his eyes. We take this opportunity to run away from the hybrid man, tripping over our feet as we run.
"We should leave." Libra says shuddering, still recovering from the octopus guy's slimy touch. I shake my head insistently. "We can't. We still have to look for Cancer."
As if responding to my cry, a familiar voice is heard from the centre of the dance floor. We all turn in that direction, my eyes squinting through the flashing lights, and we find Cancer hip hopping with the other guests.
On his one side is a young man and on his other is a young woman. Although neither of them are animal-people, they still seemed abnormal. They seemed to have a bright glow emitting from them, an almost Godly appearance. Hmm, godly. Considering what I've seen tonight it wouldn't shock me if that is what they were.
"Cancer!" Libra sighs, relieved that we found our friend. Virgo lightly shoves my back, pushing me towards the dance floor. I stumble but regain my footing. When I look up I am nearly stampeded by a herd of cow-men. I turn around to face Virgo giving her a questioning look.
"Go get him." Virgo says giving me a firm look. I gulp. I don't dare argue.
Listening to the music, and finding my rhythm, I dance into the crowd careful not to step on any toes. After Aries' run in with the octopus guy, I don't think I was ready to face any more of these creatures. I don't think I even knew how to hiss.
Dodging the flailing arms and ducking past the waving hips I find myself standing by Cancer. I clear my throat still bobbing my head in an attempt to make it seem like I'm dancing.
Cancer, who was hip hopping better than I've ever seen anyone do before, turned to me and his face lit up. "Taurus! I was wondering where you guys were. Do you wanna bop with me?"
"Bop-- what? No." I sigh putting my hand to the bridge of my nose. "Come on Cancer, haven't you noticed this place is really freaky? We have to go."
"But--"
"But nothing, these things are dangerous."
"No, they're not really--"
"Cancer please let's just--"
But no matter how much I argue with him, Cancer won't budge.
"Well, I guess it looks freaky." Cancer says sighing. "But it really isn't. I met some really nice people who--"
Frustrated I grab Cancer by the arm and start dragging him out of the crowd. He yells at me to let go, catching the attention of a bunch of other creatures but I try to ignore them and I drag Cancer to my friends. I nod to them and we all take off towards the front door, ready to get out of this freaky place; with Cancer resisting the whole way.
The five of us pass a group of goat-men who seemed to be eating the napkins and a huddle of mice-women who were whispering about something related to....broccoli?
We all reached the front door when Cancer managed to wriggle his way out of my tight grasp. Actually he bit my hand and then yanked his arm free.
I pulled my hand back, holding it close to my face as I inspected the teeth marks. Cancer's face twisted into concern, but when he saw that I wasn't really hurt he began to shout at us.
"Will you guys just listen to me?" He exclaims. Suddenly, the two people Cancer had been talking with earlier appeared behind him, peering over his shoulder at us.
Libra stepped forward and gives Cancer a kind look. "I know you're frustrated but can't we just discuss this later. Not here."
All but Cancer nod in agreement. He takes a shaky breath and I get ready for him to rant. There was no point in arguing with him now. Virgo, though, did allow herself to ask one question.
"Um, Cancer. Who are those two people?" She says gesturing her hand to the pair behind him. Cancer lightens up when he sees his new friends. The two introduce themselves.
"My name is Artemis." The young woman says smiling at Libra and Virgo, then giving Aries and I a cold look. The young man steps up and shows off his pearly whites at all of us. "The name's Apollo. You've probably heard of me."
"Nope." I say flatly shrugging. Virgo giggles, despite herself. Apollo frowns, but chooses not to answer. Instead Cancer tells us, who exactly these people are. "They know who took Pisces. They said they can help us."
"Really!" Virgo exclaims. "Oh thank goodness."
Cancer beams, proud that he had found the answer to our problems. Artemis gracefully leads us over to a table at the side of the room. "Sit, and we'll tell you everything."
~~~
"From what your friend Cancer has told us." Artemis says thoughtfully. "Your friend, Pisces has been captured by Corvus who is a figure from Greek mythology."
"To be specific he was a crow who was turned into a constellation, by yours truly." Apollo says casually. We all nod and then take a double take. Virgo speaks up first.
"I-I'm sorry. I'm confused. How did you, why, uh--"
Artemis reaches over and gives Apollo a hard slap across the back of his head. Apollo clutches his head and groans, but Artemis shows no signs of regret. "Why did you say that! They're confused already, you can't just give them information like that. They're not ready for that yet."
"But if we didn't tell them now, when would we tell them?" Apollo pouts, holding his head. "I did them a favour and ripped the band-aid off."
"We were going to tell them after we explained everything else." Artemis hissed. Apollo's eyes widen then he hangs his head. "Oh."
Artemis sighs and puts her head in her hands, before bringing it up to face the five of us. "I might as well just tell the story from where my idiot brother started it." She sighs. "You five are five of twelve Zodiacs."
She holds her breath and looks expectantly at us. No one says anything and we are all looking at each other. Finally Libra bursts out laughing. "You're kidding, right?"
Artemis glances quickly at Apollo before turning back to us. She shakes her head. "No. You are the Zodiac signs. And-and I, along with Apollo, are also apart of Greek Mythology."
Virgo gasps and stands up in her seat loudly, causing her chair to scrape across the ground. She speaks, barely above a whisper. "You're saying that we're...."
"...apart of Greek mythology?" I finish for her. Artemis begins to nod, but is interrupted by Aries snorting from his seat at the table. He shifted slightly in his seat before staring at the siblings that sat before us. "That's rubbish. Do you really expect us to believe you!?"
Apollo smirks at Aries. "Typical Aries. Always so quick to judge. Always so loud."
I hear Cancer gasp, before Aries slams his hands on the table. "EXCUSE ME?!"
Apollo smiled at Aries putting his hands up in the universal 'calm down' motion. This only infuriated Aries even further. Apollo noticed and continued to push his buttons.
"Oh but don't worry Aries. You're nothing compared to Ares who, but the way, is a god. He is way more loud than you."
Aries glared. "Don't ever say that again. I take pride in my ability to be louder than everyone else, so doesn't you dare insult that ability. NO ONE IS LOUDER THAN ME!"
"Will you boys STOP IT!" Artemis says. She grabs both boys by the ears and pulls them down into their seats. She sighs, while the two rubs their ears in pain.
"Now, where were we?"
I smile helpfully. "Uh, you were explaining to us that we were ancient mythological figures."
Artemis nods. "Right. So you are all zodiac signs. It took everyone, and by everyone I mean the gods and goddesses up on Olympus, a long time to figure out what had happened to you twelve. A few thousand years ago, Aphrodite invited you all to a party and you never showed up, which was unusual because you were the life of the party. Soon we found no mythological aura left in your respective constellations. All that was left were-"
"Big balls of gas." Apollo finishes.
Artemis rolled her eyes. "Yes, thank you Apollo." She says sarcastically.
"So you're saying one day, we just stopped being the zodiac signs?" Virgo asks bemused.
Artemis sighs. "Yes...and no. You see, you're still zodiacs but just not immortal. However, your spirit is. According to Athena your zodiac has been traveling through many different vessels- and by vessels I mean humans. Your current form is one of hundreds. Except your current form is the only one to have learned about any of this because, Ophiuchus has finally started his attack."
Libra snorted. "Who the heck is Ophiuchus?"
Apollo narrowed his eyes and leaned onto the table staring us all in the eyes. "Someone dangerous. Someone who has captured Zeus."
Cancer gulped looking between everyone solemnly. "So I'm guessing it's a good thing I found these two, right?"

Hey everyone, it has been a LONG TIME since I last updated, so I decided to finally finish this chapter to let you know I'm not dead.
I hope this chapter was interesting enough, it was mostly just informational but still.
I know that my Pisces readers (if there are any) are feeling Pisces deprived, so I'm probably going to make the next chapter about Pisces. Which means you will all get more information about the bad guys including Corvus and Ophiuchus and others.
Don't forget to like and comment!
