Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

At the end of January, the sun travels into Aquarius and stays there for about a month before shifting to another sign. In general, January has the fewest births of the year and February is shortest month of the year. So that would make Aquarius one of the most uncommon zodiac sign of them all.

According to Jaye, an astrologer with Gifted Astrology, one of the lesser known facts about Aquarius is that they're loyal in love. "Known as the sign that focuses on working for the people and/or the greater good, they have a reputation of not committing to one person," she says. "But that's simply not true! Once an Aquarius decides to commit, they’re extremely loyal."

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

The period between March 21 and April 19 also sees fewer births than the rest of the year. Aries are known to be fiery go-getters. According to Cafe Astrology, the following keywords can best describe an Aries: active, initiating, independent, aggressive, and pioneering. "Aries love a chase," astrologer Haley Comet tells Bustle. "Give them a little something to lust after. They're all about the challenge and the conquest."

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

Sagittarius, which takes up most of December is also one of the least common zodiac signs because birthdays between November 22 and 28 seem to be some of the least common in the entire year. According to Jaye, Saggitarius is actually the "luckiest" sign in the zodiac due to their power to attract or repel money, depending on their mindset. In short, they're money magnets. "If they’re ignoring the bottom line (read: spending too much) a money manager would be best because Sagittarius don’t want to bother with the boring stuff," she says.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, the most common zodiac sign is Scorpio (those born between October 23 and November 21). Sky believes this may have a little something to do with the fact that Valentine's Day has become a bigger deal over the years. Another common sign is Virgo (August 23 to September 22), which shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. Research has found time and time again that September is the most popular birth month in the United States. Then there's Gemini (May 21 to June 20), which sees a lot of births during the end of May to end of June period. Overall, the summer months do see more births than any other time of the year, so it's not too far fetched to say that Cancer and Leo are also fairly common.
