Chapter Four (Halloween Special! part one)
Aries' POV
"So, what's everyone gonna do for Halloween?" Gemini asked.
We were all sitting around in Aqua's room because we just finished eating the pancakes she made. It was awesome because we got to request different kinds of pancakes and she'd make them for us. Aqua didn't ask us for help but when we offered she gladly accepted.
... Let's just say that no one will ask Leo to flip pancakes ever again.
The day was October thirty-first on a Saturday morning. I was super glad that Halloween was on a Saturday because for some stupid reason people don't consider Halloween a holiday so if it were on a weekday we'd have to spend some of our time doing school work.
"I dunno what I'm gonna do tonight for Halloween... But, I'd like to carve a pumpkin some time today," Aqua said, and looked at us. "I bought an extra one because there was a great deal. Would anyone like to join me?"
"I would," Gemini replied, "But I don't really trust myself with a knife."
"Same." Leo and I said in unison, both knowing what she was trying to do.
"I've always kinda hated the pumpkin guts." Sagi muttered while looking down, and I knew that she was trying to hide a mischievous smirk.
"But, I'm sure that Libra can accompany you, Aqua! Right, Libra?" Gemini cheerfully said, and Sagi, Leo, and I all gave secret knowing glances to Libra while nodding in agreement.
Aqua looked at Libra hopefully. Libra sat there in surprise for a moment, before clearing his throat and saying, "Sure, Aqua. I can carve pumpkins with you if you want."
Sagi, Gemini, Leo, and I shared a quick smirk of victory before looking at Aqua and Libra while smiling innocently.
Aqua grinned. "Awesome! Thanks, Libra! I was hoping on doing it at noon. Is that okay with you?"
"Yeah, that's fine." Libra replied, smiling softly.
"So anyways," Sagi began with a slightly bored tone, "Do you guys wa-"
A sudden knock on the door interrupted Sagi, making her frown slightly.
"Aries, since you're closest to the door, would you get that?" Aqua asked while getting up, explaining that she was going to the kitchen.
I nodded, and got up to open the door.
Taurus' POV
I was surprised to see Aries standing at the entrance of Aquarius' room and looked at him suspiciously. He ignored my look of confusion, giving me an inviting grin.
"Hi, Taurus!" Aries greeted, "What's up?"
He let me in, and I noticed that Sagittarius, Leo, and Gemini were also in Aquarius' dorm.
I looked back at Aries. "I smelled pancakes."
"Would you like some?" Aquarius asked, suddenly appearing beside Aries.
"Sure, thanks." I replied. I hadn't had pancakes in a while so I was grateful to get some for free instead of having to pay for them at a restaurant or cook them myself.
Aquarius grinned at me. "What would you like in your pancakes? I've got lots of ingredients, so you can have any kind of pancake you want."
I looked at her, questioning her statement.
"Any kind?"
"Yes, any kind. You name it, I've got it."
"How about... Banana?"
"Yup, there's a different batter for that though."
"Chocolate?"
"Uh-huh."
"...Butterscotch."
"Yeah, in chip form."
"Peanut butter."
"Also in chip form, so yes."
"Marshmallow."
"Mm-hm."
"Skor."
"Yup, those things are awesome!"
"Gummy bears."
"Gummy bears?"
"Yeah, do you have them for pancakes?"
Aquarius smirked. "Of course."
I stood there silently for a moment.
"Wow, Aquarius." I mumbled.
"You can call me Aqua if you want," Aquar- I mean Aqua- said with a smile, "Oh! And you being here reminds me that I should invite the others too... Anyways, what kind of pancakes would you like?"
"Pick banana pancakes, they're the best!" Gemini yelled to me.
"No, you have to have chocolate chip!" Leo shouted in disagreement.
This started a small childish argument between them, until Libra interrupted their little quarrel with a compromise.
"Why not chocolate chip banana pancakes?"
Leo and Gemini looked at Libra in confusion.
"Who says that would work?" Leo asked.
"Have you ever had a banana dipped in chocolate?" Libra asked.
"Yeah, those are awesome." Gemini and Leo said in unison.
"Well, there you go!" Libra concluded.
"Guys," Aqua playfully scolded, "Let Taurus decide in peace!"
Pisces' POV
I awoke to the sound of shouting in Aqua's room and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and slight annoyance (I did just wake up, after all). After sitting in bed for a minute or two, I got out and walked towards my dresser to change.
After slowly and lazily getting ready, I began to get hungry and decided that I should go have something to eat.
Just as I was about to go to the kitchen my phone vibrated, notifying that I had a text. I picked it up, seeing Aqua's message.
Aquarius: Hi, Pisces!
Me: Good morning :)
Aquarius: I was wondering if you'd like pancakes. Invite Scorpio, Capricorn, Cancer, and Virgo too. I've got plenty of batter left. Taurus is already here.
Me: That would be awesome! Thanks!
Aquarius: It's no problem :)
Me: Well, see you in a few minutes!
Aquarius: Yeah, cya
After I texted everyone to meet in Aqua's room for pancakes, I walked to her dorm and knocked on the door. It opened immediately and I was greeted by Aries.
"Hi!" He shouted excitedly, "Aqua, we've got more company!"
"Ask them what kind of pancakes they want!" Aqua shouted back.
Aries looked at me expectantly. "Well?"
"What kind of pancakes do you have?" I asked.
"Every kind." Everyone near said in unison.
I blinked in slight confusion. Deciding to just go along with it, I asked for something that I love to have in pancakes.
"Um... can I get blueberry?"
"Probably," Aries replied before yelling, "Aqua! Pisces wants blueberries in her pancakes!"
"Alright!" Aqua shouted, and I could hear the sound of a fridge opening and closing.
"Well, you can come in now." Aries said, while moving out of the way so I wouldn't have to be standing in the doorway the entire time.
Aries swung the door closed, but before it shut completely someone caught it and opened it up again. I saw Scorpio, Virgo, and Capricorn in the doorway and my expression immediately brightened.
"Hi!" I greeted happily, getting soft smiles from the three in return.
I noticed that Cancer was missing, and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Where's Cancer?" Taurus asked before I could, and I noticed that she was standing beside me.
"Probably still sleeping." Virgo replied, shrugging.
Taurus and I nodded in understanding.
"Well, come in!" I said, gesturing for everyone to enter the dorm.
Aquarius' POV
After I finished making Pisces' pancakes, I began to quickly walk out of the kitchen with a plate of food in my hand.
"Pisces! Your food's read- whoa!"
I almost bumped into Capricorn, not expecting someone to be standing near the kitchen.
"Oh, hi Capricorn!" I said joyfully.
"Hey," he responded, slightly smiling at me.
I grinned at him, and Pisces suddenly came to grab her plate. After thanking me, she said that Virgo and Scorpio were also here. I looked near the doorway, noticing them and waving.
"Would you guys like some pancakes?" I asked the three that just arrived.
"No thanks," they all said in unison.
I nodded, slightly confused and disappointed.
They told me their excuses shortly afterwards; Scorpio said he wasn't hungry and Virgo and Capricorn said that they already ate. I nodded in understanding.
Turning around to go back into the kitchen, Capricorn suddenly grabbed my shoulder.
"Wait." He said, letting go as I turned back around to look at him.
"Did you eat yet?" Capricorn asked, slightly concerned.
"... No?" I replied hesitantly.
"I'll make you pancakes."
I lightly laughed. "You don't have to."
"I insist."
"Well... Okay. Thanks!"
"No problem. What kind would you like?"
"Skor!"
"What? Skor?"
"Yeah," I explained, beginning to walk into the kitchen and gesturing for him to come. "I've heard about people putting Skor Bits in pancakes so I wanted to try them! Cmon, I'll show you where the Skor Bits are."
I opened a certain cupboard, looking around for a bag of Skor Bits. I found them on a high shelf and frowned. Why'd I put them so high up? I thought. I tried reaching up for the bag, but no prevail.
Actually, how'd I even get them so high up?
After one or two more fruitless attempts, I noticed a hand reach over mine and grab the bag with ease. Turning around I saw Capricorn towering over me and smirking with a bag of Skor Bits in his hand. It took a moment to fully process how close to me he was.
His free hand was resting on the counter, close to my waist. I was trapped between him and the counter, the position made me think of all the romance novels (andcoughcoughfanfiction) that I've read that involved this very position we were in (minus the Skor Bits in his hand). I couldn't hold back the blush that crept onto my face as I looked away sheepishly. He stepped away from me and chuckled.
"Shorty." he muttered, loud enough for me to hear.
I glared playfully at him, and he chuckled while opening the bag.
"Thanks again, Capricorn." I said, smiling up at him to show my gratitude.
Capricorn smiled back.
"No problem."
Virgo's POV
"Hey, Aqua! Come sit here," Pisces called, patting on a spot between her and I.
Aqua thanked her, and sat where she was told with her legs crossed.
Everyone in the room was engaged in some sort of activity, some people eating pancakes while others were chatting with one another, laughing once in a while.
"The pancakes were great, Aqua!" Pisces said while smiling, "Thank you for making them."
Aqua grinned while saying, "I'm glad you liked them!"
Suddenly, Aqua's smile faded and changed into a look of confusion.
"Speaking of which, why would you guys come if you didn't want anything to eat?" She asked, looking at me and Scorpio who was sitting beside Pisces.
Scorpio shrugged. "I didn't have anything else to do."
Aqua nodded and stared at me expectantly.
"I thought that you'd appreciate it if I came." I explained honestly.
Aqua grinned, letting me know I was right in assuming this.
"What about Capricorn?" She asked.
Pisces leaned towards her and whispered, "He probably just wanted to see you."
I barely heard, and slightly frowned at the comment.
Aqua's eyes widened for a moment, but softened while she laughed sheepishly.
"No, he probably just wanted to help out." She muttered, staring at the floor.
"Well, why don't you ask him?" Pisces asked, pointing to the kitchen.
As if on cue Capricorn came out carrying a plate of pancakes, scanning the room for a moment before spotting Aqua and walking towards her.
"Here you go, Aquarius." he said, handing the plate to her.
Aqua grinned and thanked Capricorn while I moved over, gesturing towards the now empty spot between Aqua and I.
Capricorn smiled at me and sat down.
Aqua took a bite of her pancakes and sighed in satisfaction.
Suddenly her eyes lit up, as if she had just remembered something.
"Oh! By the way, Capricorn," Aqua began, "I was wondering why you came since you didn't want pancakes."
Capricorn blinked in surprise and looked towards her, so I was unable to see his expression.
"I came because I thought you might want some help." He explained.
Aqua smiled and nodded.
"Also," Capricorn said hesitantly, "We haven't hung out in a while, so... I wanted to see you. I mean, it is Halloween."
In the background, I noticed Pisces grinning in triumph.
Scorpio's POV
"I ship it!" Pisces whispered excitedly in my ear.
I looked at her in confusion.
"Can't you see the romance?!" she asked, her eyes darting back and forth from me to Aqua and Capricorn quickly. She began to hum Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King.
"That right there is my new OTP!" Pisces squealed quietly while subtly pointing at the two, and I sighed while shaking my head in disbelief.
Girls.
"So, what's everybody doing for Halloween?" Libra asked loudly so that everyone could hear.
Everyone exchanged glances and shrugged.
"We should all hang out," Leo says, "We don't have to do just one thing all night, either. We could all be doing different things with the people that want to join us."
"That sounds pretty fun," Aqua stated, "If everyone else is okay with this, then let's do it!... But what kind of things should we-"
"I JUST GOT THE BEST IDEA EVER." Sagi suddenly shouted while jumping up.
"We should TOILET PAPER A HOUSE!" she exclaimed.
Aries got up and stood in front of Sagi, putting his hands on her shoulders.
"Sagittarius," he said quietly and seriously, "That is the best idea I've ever heard."
Sagi and Aries both grinned and high-fived. They turned to look at everyone.
"WHO'S IN?!"
The room was silent.
"Are you stupid?" Capricorn asked, and Aqua tried not to laugh beside him.
"Nooo, we're just fun." Sagi claimed, sticking her tongue out at Capricorn.
"Cmon guys, live a little!" Aries yelled, "Leo? Gemini? Aqua? Libra? Anyone?!"
"Weeeell..." Gemini trails off.
"If you want to, go right ahead." Libra said.
"But no one here is going to join you." Leo stated.
"Fine." Sagi and Aries grumbled in unison, sitting down and crossing their arms.
"EXCEPT FOR ME!" Leo shouted while jumping up.
"Me too!" Gemini announced.
The four idiots cheered.
"Sooo... what else should we do?" Aqua asked while giving Sagi, Aries, Gemini, and Leo troubled glances.
"We could watch horror movies at the theatre, go to haunted houses, go through corn mazes, and other stuff. We should meet up somewhere at the end of the night, too." Libra suggested.
"Yeah! Let's go to the woods and tell scary stories. That'd be awesome!" Gemini exclaimed.
"That sounds good." Virgo said, and everyone agreed.
"Wait," Gemini began, "We should get COSTUMES!"
"I'd be okay with doing that." Aqua said with a smile.
"Also," Leo added, "It'd be good to have some kind of disguise if we're gonna toilet paper a house."
Aries and Sagi nodded in approval.
Suddenly, Virgo coughed to get everyone's attention.
"I don't mean to.. kill the mood, but how are we supposed to get costumes in time?" She asked.
"Yeah, won't most stores be closed or have nothing good left?" Pisces said.
"And," Taurus added, "What if some of us don't want to participate?"
"You don't have to if you don't want to, but I think that if you can you should. It'll be fun!" Aqua answered.
"WAIT," Gemini added with a sinister smirk, "If you don't, you will be punished."
"Punished how?" Pisces squeaked.
"I don't know, I'll think about it later. But YOU WILL BE PUNISHED." Gemini exclaimed evilly.
"Besides, who wants to be the buzzkill without a costume anyways?" Sagi asked.
"Me." Capricorn, Taurus, and I all said in unison.
"Awe, come on you guys! You have to," Pisces encouraged, "It'll be fun! And if you don't.. you'll be punished."
"That's the spirit, Pisces!" Gemini exclaimed.
"Alright, alright! But if I have to, I'm leaving so I can look for stuff. Also, I need to wake up Cancer and tell him what's up." Taurus grumbled while getting up.
Everyone also stood up, agreeing with Taurus and beginning to leave.
"Don't forget to come here at noon, Libra!" Aqua yelled.
"Why's he coming at noon?" Capricorn asked with a frown.
"We're gonna carve some pumpkins," Libra answered, "I'll be there, Aqua!"
Pisces began tugging my arm.
"What?" I asked.
"I think I see a love triangle!" She whispered excitedly.
I rolled my eyes.
Girls.
Cancer's POV
"CANCER!" Someone yelled while banging on the door, the ruckus startling me out of my slumber and making me fall off the bed.
"Who is it?" I grunted in pain.
The doorknob turned and Taurus walked in.
"Jeez, you didn't even lock the door! Sometimes you can be so scatterbrained." she scolded while shaking her head in disappointment.
Ignoring what she said, I pointed at the object in her hand while getting off the floor and sitting in my bed.
"What's that?"
Taurus grinned. "Pancakes."
My eyes widened. I love pancakes.
"Are they for me?" I asked.
"Yup."
I stood up to get the pancakes and began to eat, sitting back down on my bed.
"Thank you!" I exclaimed happily.
"You're welcome." Taurus muttered, smiling lightly while going to sit across from me.
"So," Taurus began, "I met up with everyone else earlier and we've all decided to hang out tonight."
"That sounds fun." I said, putting my empty plate beside me.
"Yeah.." Taurus agreed and then began to cringe, "But we have to wear COSTUMES."
"Oh."
"Yup."
"Will you wear one?"
"Yeah, because Gemini will punish whoever doesn't."
"Punish how?"
"I don't know, but she's got lots of time to plan something and I don't want to risk it."
"Well, it could be fun..."
Taurus looked at me in disbelief. I smiled hopefully, and she rolled her eyes and looked away.
"What's so bad about wearing a costume?" I asked, tilting my head.
"It just seems so... cheesy," Taurus replied, "I thought you might not like it because we're all kinda being forced into it. I know you've got that weird rebellious thing where you're like
'I would've done it, but you told me to so I don't want to do it anymore!'"
I let out a light chuckle. "I might've been like that in a different situation, but I actually want to do this. Also, everyone else is doing it so it's not like it'll be embarrassing. I think it'd be worse if you were the only one not wearing a costume."
"Good point..." Taurus muttered while getting off the bed. She began pacing around the room.
"What is it?" I asked.
"It's just that... the only costume I have is kinda embarrassing...." Taurus complained.
"It'll be fine," I reassured, "I'm sure your costume will be awesome!"
Taurus rolled her eyes and looked at the ground.
"Whatever you say..."
Libra's POV
I had been sitting on my bed for a while, simply staring at the door. I checked my phone again, to see what time it was.
11:58am
I groaned while getting up from my bed and pacing back and forth. I ran my hand through my hair because of how impatient I was but then quickly smoothed it over in case I messed it up. I checked my phone.
11:58am
"For gods sake why can't it just be twelve o'clock!" I grumbled.
I grabbed some Excel gum from my pocket and started chewing a couple of pieces. I don't know if it really helps my breath but I'm not taking any chances. I checked my phone again.
11:58am
I groaned in frustration and collapsed onto my bed. For a few moments I just laid there, thinking. I sat up and looked at my phone.
12:03pm
I cursed under my breath and left my dorm, running through the hall until I got to the
eleventh room, loudly knocking on the door.
"It's open!" Aqua called from the inside.
I opened the door and walked into the room, seeing her grabbing some pumpkins and putting them on a table.
"Where'd you get the table?" I asked.
"There were some just laying around in the school, so I may or may not have stolen one." Aqua responded, "Now, let's begin!"
Aqua grabbed two pumpkins and placed them on the table while I went into the kitchen to grab some knives and spoons that seemed suitable for pumpkin carving. After giving Aqua one of each she thanked me and began to cut a hole out of the top of her pumpkin while grinning excitedly.
"I just had an idea, Libra." she said while picking up her spoon.
"Do tell.." I muttered while concentrating on cutting a hole out of my pumpkin.
"Remember when Sagi said she didn't like pumpkin guts?"
"Yeah, why?"
Aquarius smirked evilly and grabbed a Ziplock bag, scooping out some pumpkin guts and dropping them in there.
"I think it's time we help her conquer her fears."
"Oh God," I laughed, "Don't come to me when she tries to get revenge."
"Trust me, I will come to you when she tries to counter-attack," Aquarius said, putting more pumpkin guts in the bag. "I need you to protect me, after all."
I tried to ignore the heat creeping up to my cheeks and decided the best way to go with this was to joke around.
"I shall guard you with my life, milady." I announced while bowing.
"Oh thank you, my dear.. would you rather be a prince or a knight?"
"I don't mind either way, you pick."
"Fine, then.. my brave knight!"
We went back to scooping the slimy pumpkin guts out of our pumpkins silently. After a minute or two, I decided to try and spike up some conversation.
"Soo Aqua,"
"Soo Libra,"
"Why did you decide to make me a knight instead of a prince?"
Aqua looked at me with a brow raised.
"That's an odd question."
"It's an odd question I'd like an answer to." I countered, and Aqua smiled.
"I feel like they deserve more credit," she explained, "To me, the prince is usually the one who gets more attention, the dreamboat that gets all the love from everyone. But nobody seems to notice the courageous knights and guards, protecting the things that everyone loves. Without a knight, there wouldn't be a prince for very long. They're much more.. intriguing. They're strong and passionate about what they do and yet no one acknowledges them as individuals. Also, I feel like most princes would be a bit spoiled."
I hummed in response, thinking about her answer.
"Wait," I spoke, "I think I'd rather be a prince."
"Hm?" Aquarius questioned, "Why is that?"
"Well, you did make some good points. The knight is the mysterious, brave man in the shadows protecting the kingdom from danger. But without a prince, an heir to the throne, there would be no kingdom to protect. When the prince becomes king he chooses who is worthy of not only protecting him, but his entire kingdom and that takes lots of responsibility. There's a reason the knight isn't given as much credit. The knight is a follower, the prince is a leader who made the knight a brave loyal man worthy of protecting the kingdom. The prince is a beacon of light and hope, and the knights are simply helping get his rays across the land."
This time, it was Aqua who hummed in response. Ha. I sure got her stumped.
"Fine then," she began, "I'll let you be a prince. Just don't become a spoiled brat and I'll protect your kingdom as the brave knight."
"I see you more as the beautiful princess of another kingdom." I said without thinking. My eyes widened at what I just said and I looked at Aqua, who simply blinked.
She laughed a bit while rubbing the back of her neck and then pointed at me with a determined look on her face.
"In that case... Handsome Prince Libra, I declare war on your kingdom!" Aqua exclaimed.
I looked at her in surprise and then smiled mischievously.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you..."
Aqua rose a brow at me and smirked while crossing her arms.
"Yeah? Why shouldn't I?"
"Because we just got a new secret weapon."
"Ooh, I'm so scared.... what kind of weapon?"
I grinned, and quickly yanked some guts out of the pumpkin and chucked them at Aqua, getting them all over her shirt.
"Apparently, pumpkins are extremely useful in combat!" I exclaimed while laughing loudly.
However, I stopped laughing when I saw Aqua's sad expression.
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked.
Aqua sniffled a bit and I froze. I did not just make her cry. Oh god. Oh no. I wouldn't ever forgive myself.
I panicked.
"Crap I'm sorry I didn't know that would upset you I was being stupid this is all my fault I thought it'd be funny but I was being insensitive and I'm sorry and I'll never do it again just don't cry I'm so sorry!" I rambled.
Aqua rubbed her eyes and sniffled again.
"It's alright," she muttered sadly, "I don't know why I got so upset.. it's stupid that I am, I'm sorry."
"N-no, it's not stupid!" I stammered.
I began walking towards her. She was rubbing her eyes and sniffling much more frequently now, and I tried to comfort her by putting my hand on her shoulder. Jeez, I felt horrible.
Aqua turned to me and gave me a hug, and I froze in shock.
Oh my god, she's hugging me. She has her arms wrapped around my torso. I am so happy.
Idiot! She's hugging you because you hurt her feelings and you're the only one here. You should be showing some sympathy!
OH MY GOD IT'S LIKE WE'RE CUDDLING WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!
SHUT UP AND HUG HER BACK TO MAKE HER FEEL BETTER. SHE'S SAD, REMEMBER?
Great idea, as the man I should hold her in my arms so she feels safe.
.... stupid.
I snapped out of my trance and hugged Aqua back.
Hey look, I'm hugging her now! My arms are now wrapped around her. I am the luckiest man alive!
This is ridiculous.
And then...
I felt something slimy being slapped on the top of my head.
Aqua and I broke our hug, and I saw her grinning evilly. I reached up to touch my hair, and when I looked at my hand it was covered in disgusting pumpkin guts.
Oh. So that's how it's gonna be.
DEMOLISH HER.
I ran over to my pumpkin and grabbed more ammo, looking over at Aqua with a malicious look in my eye. Aqua took that as her cue to leave and bolted away into her bathroom. I smirked.
This isn't over yet!
After covering the smooth tile floor in front of the bathroom with pumpkin guts I made loud steps to the door, opening it and closing it so Aqua would think I left her dorm.
"Libra?" Aqua called, "Did you go?"
I stayed quiet. Suddenly, I heard Aqua slam the bathroom door open and I assume she ran out of the room (or attempted to, at least).
"Nooooo Libra come ba- AAAAACK!"
I heard a loud bang, and when I turned the corner to see what happened I found Aqua laying in a pool of pumpkin guts. I burst out laughing and took a picture.
"Libra!" Aqua shrieked while sitting up, "YOU ARE CLEANING THIS WHEN WE'RE DONE."
I still continued to laugh hysterically.
"Truce?" I managed to sputter between chortles while holding out my hand.
"Fine." Aqua grumbled, reaching her hand out to grab mine.
But as soon as she got a hold of it, she yanked me downwards and moved out of the way so I could land face first in the mess.
She was the one laughing now.
"There, now we're even." Aqua said while smiling widely.
I nodded while wiping some of the goop off my face.
"Let's get back to work."
Leo's POV
"And then she told me that she needed ME to protect her from Sagi!" Libra shouted excitedly.
Yup. A while ago Libra and Aqua were hanging out carving pumpkins and apparently Libra was having the time of his life. When they finished, they put their jack-o-lanterns outside of their dorms and Libra was so happy about what had happened he needed to share the whole story with someone.
That brings us here. Libra is rambling away on every little detail that happened while I just sat there bored out of my mind listening to him and watching him pace around my room. Well, somewhat listening. I couldn't help but space out.
"Leo? Leeeeeooooo... LEO!" Libra yelled to get my attention, "Listen to me!"
I looked up at him. Is this what it's like to listen to me talk all the time? I thought.
Nah! I'm way more interesting.
Libra continued with his story.
"Anyways... then I threw pumpkin guts at her."
"Whoa, what!?"
I exclaimed while shooting up.
"Dude, if that's how you try and make girls like you it's no wonder you're single!"
"Yeah? Well apparently it works because Aqua was hugging me a few moments later!"
"WHAAAAAT!? How the hell did that work?!"
"I mean, it only happened because she was pretending to be upset and needed me to get closer so she could put pumpkin guts on my head."
"Well, you deserved it for throwing guts at the girl you like!"
"Hey! They were only pumpkin guts! But... I also kinda made her slip and fall in pumpkin guts too."
I closed my eyes and shook my head in disappointment.
"Why do we even try setting you guys up..." I groaned.
"Hey! She likes to take things slow, alright?"
Libra said back.
"Is throwing the insides of a pumpkin what you consider taking it slow?!"
"No!.. Yes. Maybe?... I don't know! It's all just part of the process of getting to know each other better!"
"Well, get to know each other faster!"
"Hey, you wouldn't get it! You don't like anybody so you don't understand how I feel about this!"
"You don't know if I do or not! You're acting like I've never liked anybody before!"
"Well I assumed that was the case, because you seem to be too busy falling in love with yourself!"
"SHUT UP!"
"YOU SHUT UP!"
"NO, YOU-"
Then somebody stared banging at the door. Very loudly.
"STOP ACTING LIKE IDIOTS AND BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP BEFORE I KICK THIS DOOR DOWN AND BEAT YOUR ASSES!" Someone yelled. I'm very certain it was Sagi.
Libra and I both went silent.
"Sorry." He sighed, "I didn't mean it."
"Same here." I grumbled.
Libra slightly smiled.
"I actually think things are going pretty well for you and Aqua." I said, "Just keep doing what you're doing and things will get steamy pretty quick."
Libra laughed and punched my arm.
"Thanks, man."
"Just don't throw any more guts at her!"
"I'm not promising anything."
Capricorn's POV
Thinking.
That's all I was doing. And I was getting extremely bored of that because I was running out of things to think about.
I glanced at my books. Nope. I've read all of those. I sighed and looked at my desk. I need a break from working. It's Halloween, after all. I groaned and looked at my computer. I could watch some Netflix... maybe I should invite someone over to watch it with me...
.....
No, not for Netflix and chill.
Shut up.
I heard a knock on my door and immediately stood up and walked to it. Thank god, I needed some company to escape my thoughts.
I opened the door and saw Virgo standing there.
"Oh hey, Virgo." I greeted, and she gave me a smile which I returned.
After a short moment of silence, she spoke up.
"I, uh.. came to return these."
She held out a pair of earbuds that I had let her borrow the other day because she couldn't find hers.
"Thanks for letting me borrow them." she said as I took them.
"It's no problem." I replied.
Virgo turned around and began to walk away.
"Virgo wait!" I called which made her look back at me with a curious expression on her face.
"Do you wanna come in..?" I asked hesitantly.
"Huh?!" she gasped.
"Just to hang out," I explained, "I'm really, really bored."
Virgo smiled and looked away for a moment.
"Well... okay." she said, and went into my dorm.
It was a little awkward at first, but soon Virgo and I were watching Netflix and having a nice time.
I suddenly felt my phone vibrate, and saw that I got a text from Aquarius. I opened our chat to find a meme. I rolled my eyes at her humour, but I couldn't stop a smile from creeping onto my face.
"What're you so smiley about?" Virgo asked with a smirk.
"Nothing, I just got a text from Aquarius." I responded, putting my phone back down.
Virgo went silent and began to avoid eye contact with me.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked.
"Capricorn," Virgo began and finally looked me in the eye with a slight frown on her face, "Do you... do you like Aqua?"
I froze, my eyes widening. I could feel my heart beginning to pound. I started thinking of all the times we hung out and I felt my chest... tighten? I can't explain it.
"I.. don't know." I muttered, looking down. I could feel my face heat up.
I never really thought about liking her. Did I? Well, if I did it's not like I'd admit it anyways.
Virgo smiled softly, looking down as well. Her hair fell in front of her face, so I couldn't see her expression when I glanced up at her.
"Well I think you do," she said softly, almost like she was unable to speak any louder.
"You should tell her, Capricorn."
"What?!"
Virgo got up and began to walk to the door. She looked back at me and smiled sadly.
"Ask her out! Don't be afraid. The worst thing she could say is no...
"She'd be crazy if she turned a guy like you down, though."
And after Virgo said that, she was gone. Leaving me super confused.
What just happened? Why'd she leave? Why do I feel so bad? I don't remember doing anything cruel, so...
Why do I feel like I'm the reason that Virgo might be crying?
Sagittarius' POV
Okay. Let me just put this out there right now. I'm only going to say this once, and you better not repeat it.
I feel lonely. It seems like everybody has somebody they can rely on, someone that cares about them. Someone that will be there for them through anything so no one has to go through anything alone. Everybody's got a best friend.
Aqua has Gemini. Leo, Aries, and Libra have each other. Pisces has Scorpio. Virgo's got Capricorn. Taurus has Cancer. Some of these people even have admirers or admire someone else. And I've got nobody.
Yes I've got friends, but I don't have that certain special person, you know what I mean? I didn't have a best friend. I wish I did but I didn't.
Well, whatever. I don't need a person like that. I can get through anything by myself if that's what I have to do. I'm strong.
Suddenly, I heard a loud banging on my door.
"SAGI!" Aries yelled from the other side, bursting in through the door.
This completely surprised me so I didn't have enough time to compose myself (aka make myself look like I wasn't actually super sad a couple of seconds ago).
Aries was grinning, until he saw my expression.
"Uh... are you alright?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I answered.
"C'mon Sagi, you're obviously not," Aries stated, "You look really, uh, gloomy. Soo um.. what's up?"
I smiled.
"You're not very good at this, are you? You're being very awkward."
"I'm just not used to it, alright? Now shut up and tell me what's wrong."
I lied down on my bed, staring up at the ceiling.
"Why should I?"
"Because I said so."
"And..?"
"Because I want you to."
"That's, like, the same thing."
"I don't care. Just tell me."
"I'm not supposed to."
"Why not?"
"Because you're not the one that's supposed to help me! You're supposed to help Leo and Libra with their problems and they're supposed to help you with yours."
"Uh, no. Leo and Libra help each other like that, but I'm not a part of it. And if that's how it's supposed to work, what about you? Who helps you?"
"Nobody."
Aries was silent. I felt the urge to continue, so I did (even though it ruins the whole best friend system).
"Everyone has someone to lean on except for me. It really, really sucks. Everyone has a best friend, a special person in their life that they can really rely on. I don't. I'm alone. Why am I alone? Where's my person to lean on?!"
Aries stayed quiet for a while, with an unreadable expression on his face. Then, after a while he smiled at me.
"You dumbass," he said with a big toothy grin,
"I'm right here."
Gemini's POV
Finally.
It was FINALLY TIME TO START GETTING READY FOR THE AWESOME TIME I WAS GOING TO HAVE WITH ALL MY FRIENDS FOR HALLOWEEN.
I.
Was.
STOKED.
And I am not stoked very easily. Well, yes I am. But that's not the point. Wait, maybe it was the point. WHATEVER I WAS JUST REALLY STOKED.
I blasted on the music. It was time. TIME TO PREPARE MY COSTUME. I (surprisingly) didn't tell anyone what I was going to be. Probably because I haven't seen anyone since this morning. But anyways. Preparing my costume.
I had already gotten the clothes ready. I would put them on later.
I was about to put on the makeup for the costume but I heard my phone chime. I looked at my phone and saw a text from Leo.
Leo: hey
Me: hi
Leo: can I come to your room?
Me: for what?
Leo: I need to borrow some makeup :P
Me: uh.. okay
Leo: k
Immediately after Leo sent that text, I heard a loud knock on my door. When I opened it, I found Leo standing there grinning.
"Were you there the whole time?" I asked.
"Yup." he said before walking in.
After Leo showed me what he wanted to do, I gave him the makeup he needed and we both sat in front of a mirror doing our makeup.
"Soo.. did you hear about how Libra and Aqua's pumpkin carving 'date' went?" Leo asked.
"Nope," I answered, "Did you?"
Leo nodded.
"Libra came to my dorm and told me everything. It was suuuper boring until him and I kinda got into an argument because he threw pumpkin guts at her. I overreacted and-"
"Wait, he threw pUMPKIN GUTS AT AQUA?! NO WONDER I HAVEN'T HEARD FROM HER, SHE PROBABLY NEEDED TO WASH ALL THE GUNK OFF! JEEZ, I'VE BEEN SO BORED AMD LONELY ALL BECAUSE AQUA WASN'T HERE BECAUSE LIBRA HAD THE URGE TO THROW THE INSIDES OF A SQUASH!"
"Yeah, I reacted a little bit like that.." Leo said while rolling his eyes.
I chuckled nervously.
"Sorry." I apologized while rubbing the back of my neck.
"Don't worry about it!" Leo said and added, "By the way, I bet you're not bored now that I'm here."
Was that flirtatious or just cocky? Goddammit Leo why are you so complicated! Should I just try and flirt? ABSOLUTELY. I've got nothing to lose!
"I don't think I could ever be bored while you're around." I responded with a playful wink.
Leo stared at me for a second, and then laughed.
He laughed.
HE. LAUGHED.
Alright, maybe there was something to lose;
all of my pride and courage :'(
"Of course you couldn't, Gemini! Nobody can be bored when I'M in the room!"
Leo's boasts took me out of my trance and I noticed he was standing on his chair.
I sighed.
I guess he's just really dense.
Alright, some pride and courage restored.
"Well, let's get back to getting ready." I ordered.
"Yes, ma'm." Leo muttered and sat back down.
After we finished doing our makeup, we changed into our costumes and did our hair.
"How do I look?" Leo asked when he was all done, striking a pose.
"Surprisingly good," I answered, "What about me?"
"Unsurprisingly gorgeous." Leo said.
I smiled.
Pride and courage fully restored!
"Well, what time is it now?" I thought out loud and we both looked at our phones.
Leo grinned.
"It's time to go!" he said.
I was ecstatic. I was SO READY FOR THIS.
I.
WAS.
STOKED.
I slammed my door open and ran out.
"LET'S PARTY!"
