C A S S I A
"Wake up," I heard Lucy yell.
I moaned. It felt like we were back in the old days when we'd have our once in a blue moon sleepovers.
"What, Luc?" I mumbled.
I heard her gasp.
"Oh my God, Cassia?" she cried.
I heard her drop down and before I knew it, I felt myself being tugged into an embrace. Which was surprising because Lucy hated hugs. Somebody probably died.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I don't know," she whispered. "That's what's wrong."
I got up and reached to turn on my lamp and then I realized I was't in my own bed or my own house.
"Luc... where are we?" I asked.
"I don't know... Max thinks we're in a satanic cult but I'm not sure," she reported.
I groaned and Lucy helped me out of the bed.
"Max is here?" I mumbled.
Everything was pitch black so I didn't see if she nodded or not.
"Yeah," she answered. "HEY MAX!"
Lucy never yells unless she's with someone she's comfortable around. I guess I always qualified as one same with Al and Max.
"SHIUT UP! I'M TRYING TO WAKE SOMEONE UP!" he screamed.
His scream is iconic.
"WHAT THE FUCK?" some body yelled. "YOU'RE FUCKING WITH ME, RIGHT NOW. WHERE THE FUCK AM I!? BRING ME BACK TO MY HOME!"
I sighed and tried to stick by Lucy because she seemed like she was handling it, calmly.
"Last person," Max muttered. "And look, it's Al."
Lucy drew a sharp breath in. Okay, I just need to say something. I don't care what Al or Lucy say, but there is no way that their feelings for each other, ends at platonic. There is always this special energy between them that's so unique. Lucy and I have similar things but it's a stronger energy around Al.
"Alistair?" Lucy cried and left me, which was fine because he was laying only a bed away from me.
I heard Al get out of his bed so fast, it was scary.
"Lucy?" he cried. "Where are we?"
I heard Max walk in.
"Like I said to the others. I believe we're in a satanic-"
A voice cleared their throat and all the sudden all the lights turned on and it was blinding. It took a couple of minutes for me to get used to the lighting.
We all looked around, nervously and studied everything. Our surroundings which looked like a huge storage basement for a huge warehouse. The people. Lucy, Al, Max and I stood together but others looked terrified and lonely. There was a girl with vibrant pink hair and vibrant blue hair, colored straight down the middle from the parting. A pale girl who looked evil with her whole all-black-clothing get up. A guy with vibrant red hair and a tattoo sleeve. And to my surprise... Ella... Alistair's ex girlfriend. I looked away because I didn't want to get her attention after all the drama that was caused between Al and Lucy. Ella almost wrecked their friendship.
But anyways there were twelve of us in all, our beds circled just like a satanic cult, zodiacs unscripted on the ground at the end of the cots. I woke up on the taurus bed... which was my zodiac.
Oh my God. I turned to my friends.
"Guys... Do you know your zodiacs?" I asked.
Al being Al, shook his head but Luc and Max nodded.
"I'm a leo," Lucy exclaimed.
"Sagittarius," Max cried.
I nodded and tried to ignore the spinning wheels in my head.
"Do you know what beds you were in?" I asked.
They all shook their heads, except for Al who was standing by his bed. His zodiac above his bed said Aries.
"When's your birthday?" I asked Al.
"April first."
Lucy looked up to me. She knew a lot of stuff when it came to zodiacs, and I think she was catching onto what I was thinking.
"Aries."
I opened my mouth but then there was a loud noise and a screen slowly emerged itself from the ceiling. We all turned and looked at it as visuals popped on it. There was a 'WELCOME!' in a big text.
"What? To your satanic cult?" Max commented.
Some people laughed.
"To the black parade?" a guy asked.
A bunch of people all looked at him with knowing smiles, identifying all emos in the room. Lucy was one of them, of course. But then the screens shifted and our easy going attitudes changed, dramatically.
"Outside, the universe has separated human kind into twelve groups: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn and Pisces," therefore confirming my thoughts, before ,"and killing one another just due to overpopulation and the stars. You 12 are the last of the sane and are destined to end all this madness. You must fight against every force you can... And before you think this is fake, here are some videos to show what the outside world looks like now..."
The voice stops and the screen shifts towards a video montage of chaos. People fighting in the streets. Fathers killing their families. Mothers killing their own helpless children. It had to be fake but we all knew it wasn't. Our world was doomed.
"Alistair, Cassia, Dylan, Jack, Lucy, Faye, Levi, Mercedes, Max, Ella, Peter and Adam," it cried and I flinched at my name. "You need each other to defeat this. The twelve of you need to become one mind to end the start of a new era full of hatred. I'll leave you to explore the headquarters. I am no in particular and don't expect me to come rushing to your help at any time. Because this is reality and you're all on you're own."
The voice echoed off the walls and the TV slowly submerged itself back into the ceiling. We stood there in silence for a bit. What was happening? Was this all just a bad nightmare? But we could've pinched our skin 'til it bled. We knew it was real.
"There has to be a way to fucking get out of here," a guy cried, rushing from the rest of us, looking for a way to escape.
Then the multi-colored hair girl began to cry, loud. Then the rest of us resorted to ur panic modes. Lucy went stiff. Al got frustrated. Max started to talk to himself. I began to complain with Max.
Whatever it was that was happening.
We wanted our lives back.
