~Zodia's POV~

"Princess, are you alright?"

My head snaps up and I see one of the maids enter the library. Sending her a smile, I nod and gesture to my books. "I'm alright. Ignis is just a little late. That's all." The maid smiles at my response and bows to me politely. "I'm glad. Would you like some tea?"

"Could you bring tea and Ebony coffee?"

"Of course, Milady."

I thank her before she leaves the library. Flipping through the pages of the history book Ignis gave me, I was absorbed into an image that depicted the Astrals and a small description underneath.

"Old tales tell of six gods who have stood watch over Eos since antiquity. It is said they now slumber, conserving their strength, waiting to awaken upon the coming of a plague known as the Starscourge."

The Six and the Oracle - I

Knowledge of the Astrals is easily accessible, but some of the books are written in a language that has been lost to time and war. I know Father knows a great deal about them, but I want to read for myself about their presence on Eos during the Astral War. Curiosity consumed my thoughts and I began searching for any books about the Six.

"Ah, found one!" I cheer, pulling out an old, dusty book. Blowing off the cover to free it from the dust, I accidentally inhaled some and began to cough. Because of my illness, it made the coughing more violent and I couldn't breathe. In the midst of my coughing, I dropped the book and crashed to my knees.

Hearing the sound of running footsteps, I recognized the click of the shoes to be Ignis'. He placed a gentle hand on my back and rubbed circles. Once he began to soothe me, the coughing finally ceased and I was able to breathe properly. "T-thank you, Ignis," I said in a shaky voice.

"Are you alright? What happened?" He asked worriedly.

"I'm fine and I inhaled a lot of dust," I reply, picking the book up. Ignis helps me back to my feet and supports me until I'm able to reach a chair. He sets me down gently and kneels down to my height with worry-filled emerald eyes. "You must be careful, Zodia. Your illness hinders much of what you do."

"I know..."

Seeing his worried expression made my heart ache a little. He, along with Noctis and Father, worry too much. Even Gladio and Prompto are worrywarts when it comes to small things. Ignis noticed my crestfallen expression and placed his gloved hands on my cheeks. "Your health is top priority to all of us. His Majesty agonizes over it as he wakes every morning."

"I feel like I'm more of a problem to him and everyone else. I can't do anything without help. The smallest of things like dust cause my illness to arise."

"Zodia, you are not a plight in anyone's eyes."

I stare into his emerald eyes with my blues ones. Hearing those words brought a smile to my face. "Thank you, Ignis. I know you're my teacher, but you were also my first friend in the Citadel. I'm glad that I get to see you everyday." Ignis smiles and brushes a strand of hair behind my ear.

"If you permit, I must confess something," he said with a slight grin. I nod and let him continue. "You, my dear, are an easier case than your brother. That is only one of the reasons why I chose to be your teacher. Noctis does not sit still during lessons and makes my job more arduous. He could learn a thing or two from you."

I couldn't hold in my laughter and bursted at the seams. Ignis' smile began to widen as I carried on laughing. My sides began to hurt from the laughter and I quickly took a deep breath to calm myself.

"Ah-hem..." Hearing a familiar voice, we direct our attention to the entrance of the library. Noctis leaned against the doorframe with a raised eyebrow and crossed arms. "Heard all of that, Specs."

"I only speak the truth," Ignis defends. Noctis came over and sat across from me. "I am not that difficult," he states.

"Actually, you're worse than that," a gruff voice spoke from the hallway. Seeing Gladio, Noctis' shield, I smile and wave at him. He enters the library and returns my smile with his own. Gladio sat down next to me and listed off all the negatives about Noctis.

"Wow, feelin' the love," Noctis groans.

"Aw, that's okay, Noct. I love you no matter how many flaws you have," I said, beaming at my brother. He smiles back and looked at me. "Love you too, Zodia."

The maid came back with what I had requested and dismissed herself. I stood up with help from Ignis and poured a cup of tea for Noctis, myself, and Gladio while I prepared Ignis' favorite coffee, Ebony.

"After all these years, you still have a strong favoritism to Ebony," I giggle, handing him his cup. Ignis thanks me and assists me in passing out the tea. All four of us chatted up a storm until a bubbly voice broke through our thoughts. Lo and behold, Prompto dashed into the library, completely out of breath. "F-finally!" He shouts.

"Well, good afternoon to you, too," I sarcastically state.

"I've been searching for you all for an hour! Oh, and good afternoon," he quickly splutters.

"Why didn't you ask a maid?" Noctis questioned. Prompto went silent and plopped down in the chair next to my brother. "Uh..."

I shook my head and took a sip of my tea. Now that all five of us were together, our chit-chat storm turned into a hurricane. We all laughed as Prompto tried to deliver a joke but ended up confusing himself when he tried to deliver it. Gladio shared a few stories about the Crownsguard and Ignis told us about a few of his kitchen nightmares. Prompto also showed us tons of pictures on his camera which enthralled me. I've never been able to leave the grounds of the Citadel, but his pictures always helped me envision the city outside these walls. Noctis, on the other hand, fell asleep halfway through one of Gladio's stories.

After hours flew by, our happy moment was interrupted by Clarus Amicitia, Father's sworn shield and childhood friend. "His Majesty has summoned the prince and fellow companions for an important meeting." Noctis stood up and glanced at Clarus. "What about Zodia?"

"The princess must stay behind."

"Of course. I'm always left out," I mumble sadly. Not even trying to hide my dampened mood, I stood from my chair and stormed out of the library. I could hear the four calling my name, but I ignored their shouts and headed to my room.

I closed the door behind me and sat on the edge on my bed. Tears streamed down my face, knowing I was being left out once again by Father. My eyes traveled over to the stuffed Chocobo Prompto had given me a few years back for my birthday.

Feeling the urge, I pick up the soft Chocobo and plopped onto my bed with it in my arms. Exhaustion from crying took over and my eyes slowly began to close. Before long, I had fallen asleep.

<-----<<<<

Slowly, my eyes fluttered open when I felt someone stroking my hair. Knowing this feeling, I spoke the first name that came to mind. "Ignis." He continued to stroke my hair gently in silence. My vision clears from the sleepy haze and I see the expression on his face. It seemed whatever Father had said made him worried and sad. I slowly sit-up and tilt my head in confusion. "What did Father say that made you look so sad?" Ignis took a deep breath and sighed. "Tomorrow morning, I shall be departing with Noctis."

"W-what? Why?"

"He is to be wed to Lady Lunafreya in the coming weeks."

"And... I'm being left alone, aren't I?" At the sound of my own words, I could feel the tears staring to pool in my eyes. Ignis' expression turned even more melancholy, confirming I am right. "I'm terribly sorry, Zodia." He stopped stroking my hair and pulled me into a hug. At his actions, tears spilled from the corner of my eyes. I cried on his shoulder until I was stable enough to form a proper question. "How long?"

"Only a couple of weeks."

"That's gonna be two years in my world."

Ignis hugged me tighter when he heard what I said. "We all will return safely. That, I promise." Feeling as if something bad was going to happen, I decided to keep the forebodingness to myself. "Just promise me one thing," I whisper.

"Anything, Zodia."

"Promise to at least call or text me so I know you're all safe."

Ignis nods and breaks the hug. He wiped away a few stray tears with his thumbs. "In return, I expect to receive notifications as well." I giggle and nod to confirm our mutual promise. "We depart early morning. I... hope to see you before we cast off," he said with a tinge of hope.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world. Goodnight, Iggy."

Ignis smiles once more and also wishes me a "goodnight". I watch as he leaves my room and wait for him to close the door before I prepare myself for bed. Preparing for the warm embrace of my bed, the moon shone through my window eerily. The bad omen I felt grew and grew as I managed to fall into the dream world.

-Next Morning-

Dashing out of my room, I reach the steps of the Citadel. When I saw Father talking to Noctis, I froze in my steps and listened in. "I ask not that you guide my wayward son, nearly that you remain at his side."

Hearing the vows of Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto pulled at my heart. I know it is only for a couple of weeks, but it will feel like an eternity to me. The feeling of melancholy was rushing forward in my chest and I would soon fall prey to it. Another feeling rose in my chest when I heard Father call my name. I looked up to see he had extended a hand out to me with a warm smile on his face.

"Zodia, my beloved daughter, step forward," he beckoned. I slowly made my way down the steps and accepted his hand. Father held my hand tightly and steadied me as I stood next to him. "I must apologize for leaving you out on such important information. If only I could cure you with my own two hands, I'd let you out of this cage to spread your wings. Seeing you suffer as you have has caused me great heartache. In hopes of their safe arrival in Altissia, I shall allow you to attend the wedding."

My eyes lit up in joy at the news. "Y-you would allow me to attend Noctis' wedding?" Father nods with his brilliant smile, making me even more happy. I thank him profusely and kiss him on the cheek. "May I ask one more favor, Father?"

"What is that, my angel?"

"Would it be alright if I walked with them to the car and see them off?"

"Of course, Zodia."

I thank him and he hands me over to Ignis. He gently took my hand in his gloved one and guided me down the steps safely. Cor stood by the car, waiting for the four of them to depart. Noctis turned to face me with a somewhat sad look. "So, I guess... the next time we'll see you will be in Altissia for the wedding."

"Why do you look so sad? You're going to marry Luna!" I smile at him.

"It's not that I'm sad about the wedding, but it will be kinda boring without you around, sis."

Gladio came over and ruffled Noctis' hair. The bodyguard then looked at me. "Don't worry about a thing, princess. We'll keep his ass in line."

"I know you all will. I'll miss you all while you're gone. Please, do be careful. I know the world outside of the city is dangerous."

"No worries, Zodia! I'll make sure to send you tons of pics of things we see on our journey," Prompto chimes in. I thank him with a giggle and then turn to give Ignis my full attention. He still held my hand tightly and seemed as if he wasn't going to let go anytime soon.

"I'll be looking forward to that first call, Iggy." Finally getting his attention, our eyes meet. "I shall uphold to my promise, my dear." Feeling a sudden urge in my chest, I jumped up and kissed him on the cheek. His emerald eyes widened at my sudden affection and I giggled. "Stay safe," I whisper.

Breaking free from his hand, I step back and watch Noctis, Prompto, and Gladio get in the Regalia. For some reason, Ignis was frozen in the spot I had left him in. Worried, I walk over and place a hand on his back. "Are you alright?" I ask. Without warning, he turns and gives me a quick peck on the cheek.

"Dude, I totally wanna see their wedding!" Prompto cheers as he points to us. My cheeks ignite with a red hue and try to hide them in my hands. "Well, they've been together for twelve years. It's about damn time they got together," Noctis said.

"Now, I will see you in Altissia soon," Ignis said, ignoring everyone's comments.

"Yes, I look forward to it," I meekly respond.

"As do I, Zodia." He gives me one last kiss on the cheek and gets behind the wheel. Once the car was out of view, Father chuckled warmly. "It seems we will have another wedding to look forward to after my son's." Spinning around, I stumble over my words to him. "F-Father!" He chuckles more and smiles at my reaction. "Ignis is a marvelous man. I have no quandary of leaving you in his care."

Happiness bubbles inside me hearing him say that. I walk over and give him another kiss on the cheek. "Thank you, Father."
