Chapter 93: The Last One of the Hunter Class
The next day, the Rose Cruce members Edmund, Riza, Tamie, Tiger, Kokuyo, Nick, Scott, and Nina bade goodbye to Tim, Danielle, and other friends (Nick had a special private goodbye with Diana since the two had gotten quite close during the last weeks), and departed for the seaport. From there, they took a ship and their journey across the ocean began.
The water was calm and the sun was shining in the sky. Seagulls called in the air and descended to the water from time to time to catch some fish.
Twelve days passed serenely, and the ship docked in the New Land port. The friends descended and booked a hotel near sandy shores. That one day they spent at leisure on the exotic beach. Scott, Fireball, Riza, and Nina took chaise-longues to sunbathe. Scott even drank some fine juice Erisa and Goldmund had prepared together. Nick, Edmund, and Tamie played cards, while Tiger and Kokuyo played a ball together with Blizzard, who had turned into a human.
"Pass me the ball!" Blizzard happily cried to Tiger. He caught the ball and prevented Kokuyo from getting a score. "Haha!"
Christo and Astra - Tiger's two cats, who had likewise turned into humans - were spending time together on a terrace of the hotel, drinking milk.
"Such a fine day, Prince Christo!"
Astra referred to the orange-haired cat-boy, whom she admired both as a purebred cat and a fellow Virgo with more experience in battles. Christo returned a faint smile:
"I'd certainly agree, Astra".
The friends were having fun when Nina took her Star-gadget and made a call to her sister. Soon, a strict but benevolent womanly voice called out:
"Nina!"
"Hey, Enya! We are in New Land. We've just arrived today. We stopped at the Exotic Beach Hotel, near the seaport".
"Ah, understood! I will visit you soon, then".
"Please do! We have so much to talk about!"
"So, how was the journey?"
The sisters began chitchatting. In the evening, as promised, Enya visited the friends at the hotel. Everyone except Nina, Nick, and Tamie, who already knew her, was impressed by her bravery and toughness.
Enya was the new Scorpio Celestial Lady. She had earned the titles of the Silver Mars and the Pluto Celestial Lady by defeating the finalists in the Silver Mars and the Pluto Celestial Tournaments respectively (for Scorpios, as they were protected by two planets, it was possible to share two gem necklaces between two people. However, Enya, and Gustav before her, were so strong that they had won both of the necklaces, hence both of the titles).
"She does resemble your mom a lot," Riza and Tiger whispered to Tamie.
"Believe me, she's far stricter".
After warm greetings and introductions, Enya and the friends sat at a table in the hotel and got down to business:
"So, I hear from Nina that you want to find Getsuryuu? Since, as far as I'm aware, Tamie's boyfriend has run away".
"Auntie!"
Enya laughed. The others too chuckled at her half-joke.
"It is, in fact, a bit more complicated than that, Ms. Hrodford," Edmund adjusted his glasses, "But before all, let me give you my thanks for cooperating with us".
"Hmph, I had no intention of that whatsoever, Mr. Jaeger," Enya reclined in her armchair, "You know it's been long since I retired. However, when my sister and her children called for my help, there was just no way that I could decline".
"Still, you are the pursuer of an extinct Class that has only you left as its specialist, and the powers of that Class are essential in this mission".
At Edmund's words, Riza and Tiger grew confused - an extinct Class? What was he talking about? Were there any other classes than the ones they knew? Tamie too was astonished - she never knew Auntie Enya belonged to an extinct Class! What sort of Class was it anyway?
"Yes, I've heard from Nina that you needed my powers. There's one question that arises: why? What are you aiming at, Mr. Jaeger?"
"In ancient times, there was a Class that was too difficult to pursue - the Hunter Class," Edmund began, "Their main purpose was to slay vile creatures which brought harm to people, and that included dragons".
Scott and Fireball widened eyes in fright - dragon hunters?!
"One of the well-known Hunter Class pursuers was Marvin Wagner - the member of the Zodiac Council," Goldmund took up, "but when the Zodiac Council came to a disagreement, Marvin Wagner was discharged and the Hunter Class was deemed violent, thus was banned. Since then, everyone who was the Class pursuer either changed their Class (just like Marvin, who instead became Battler Class) or retired. However, the retired ones were persecuted by Bearers and their powers were taken, according to the Zodiac Council's orders. The only one who was permitted to retain her powers of the Hunter Class was you, Ms. Enya Hrodford, because no Bearer was able to overpower you, due to the extreme mastery of your skill. You were a genius like no other. Now, we need the Hunter Class like never before, since we will be confronting none other but the Dragon Kings".
"I am against slaughtering my spirit kin!" Scott sprang up.
"I won't participate in that either!" Tiger frowned - slay creatures?! She'd never do that in a million years. She was a Tamer, after all!
"I am against such violence too, as a dragon".
Fireball almost blew fire out of his nostrils, so angry he had become. He glared at cold-faced Enya, who had presumably murdered many of his kin. Enya, on her part, furrowed her brow:
"The reason why they didn't apprehend me, Mr. Steinbock, is not that I was too strong and a 'genius', as you've called me (though I'm flattered), but because no matter I had pursued Hunter Class, I have never slain a dragon or any other creature in my life. To be honest, I have no intention of doing that. I pursued Hunter Class only because my father wanted a successor in that Class, and I was the fittest of my siblings. It was not on my whim".
"You are too humble, Ms. Hrodford. The true fact is that you've never needed to slay a creature because you could defeat them without doing it, which was impossible for other Hunters. That is exactly why you are a genius, and also the reason why we need exactly you. We do not intend to hurt dragons who are the brethren of our member," Edmund gave a benevolent smile to Fireball, who had calmed down. "We simply need to defeat them and let them guide us towards the bottom of our problem".
"Oh, if it's so, then I'm in!" Tiger regained her happy attitude.
"Hmm..." Enya still appeared hesitant.
"Please, Enya! We need your help more than ever now," Nina pleaded.
"Well then," Enya smiled after some moments of reflection, "let's seek out the Moon Dragon!"
"Yeah!"
The friends grew happy - the powerful Huntress Enya was on their side.
