Ziva - the missing girl
Five friends had decided to spent a night out in a campfire. It was a chilly cold winter night. They played some games to light up their spirits around the sizzling pops. It was extremely relaxing to just watch the fire and then the conversation changed lanes into mysterious stories.
"Agreed, totally awesome idea!!" Chuckled, Rohan.
This was probably not a good idea as it would give her brain abundant creative material for nightmares for the next two weeks buzzed in the brain of Anika.
"No! This is not a good idea....please don't mention the supernatural things", she beseached.
"Stop whining like an ass and spoil the mood", Vikash said brusquely.
"Then I am leaving",Anika protested instantly.
Nalini swiftly held her arm," Don't worry!! You are safe! "as she gently placed her left arm on her shoulders and just as soon as Anika felt a feeble ray of hope...that this demonic idea would be dropped;
Nalini tenaciously continued, "I'll start with the first story".
Astonished with awe and fear Anika glared at Nalini mutely abandoning all hope.
"Hold on! She's scared" snapped Harsh on realizing the pallor on Anika's face.
Nalini looked at Anika with a warm smile and tender eyes, then said politely, " It's okay to be scared...but we are all together. There are so many unsolved mysteries in the world. It will be fun to talk about them.
When you feel really scared....you scream, then I'll scream and then....we both will run back to the car.okay?"
Anika giggled and said,"okay done!"
"You better never start with your story in the first place", Vikash went on agitatedly " because Anika freaks out with anything moving or creeping".
Anika wistfully murmured," Nalini please ...tell us the story".
Clearing her throat Nalini hesitantly began," A teenaged girl, 13 years old 'Ziva' lived with her parents in a cosmopolitan city. Ziva was a headstrong, optimistic and cheerful girl who always liked to challenge the norms of the society. Being stubborn, she would always do things unexpected of her like being rude with her relatives...though not without good reason, pick up a fight with schoolmates and sometimes even seniors and teachers as she could not tolerate injustice being done to anyone around her. She never bothered about the rules of the society and was adamant about staying out till late night never listening to her parents' pleas of returning home by 6 or 7 p.m. in the evening.
'ZIVA' ....The loud scream of Ziva's mother reverberated in the house. She was smoking on the terrace. She was calm and composed as usual at the furious yell of her mother and gazed lovingly at the evening sunset.
Her mother could sense something was wrong with her, as Ziva was not responding to anything she said - as if she was in some other world. Ziva usually spoke out her mind loud and clear and gave sarcastic comments on being questioned. No matter how her parents made a fuzz - if she declared that she would do something, she definitely would do it.
Ziva raced down the stairs passing her mother without even bothering to spare a look at her. She stormed straight into her room, changed her clothes - into a red T- shirt and black jeans, took her college bag and phone and was already walking towards the main door of the house when her mother darted behind her demanding," where are you going?"
She turned to her mother with palpable irritation in her features and sighed, " I'll be back by 9" and left instantly before her mother could make anymore queries.
Ziva's mother's anxiety increased manifild when Ziva did not return by 10 O'clock and even her phone was switched off.
Is that child suffering from depression? Why has she taken up to smoking? Yes, she always wanted to live her life her own way but she has never been so reckless. She told that she will be back by 9 - the line of thoughts of Ziva's mother was disturbed by the doorbell and immediately assuming that it was Ziva she quickly opened the door only to find her husband return home.
In a panic she realized that it was 10.30 p.m. already. She started to call up all friends of Ziva randomly in a frenzy, feeling desperate to somehow know WHERE WAS THIS GIRL?
As time passed on slowly in a snail's pace, they reported a missing dairy. Numerous questions bombarded her.
Why did she let her go??
Why could she never be stern with her daughter??
Was her child going through something??
Could she have been blackmailed by someone - was her daughter kidnapped??
After two days the police reported that they had found a dead body of a girl...in a red T- shirt and black jeans near a highway.
Ziva's parents were shell shocked but they could identify their child. She was murdered very visciously...she was beaten up badly.
BUT WHY??
WHO DID THIS TO HER??
The postmoterm report said she was asphyxiated.
After this monologous episode by Nalini, Anika queried concerndly," what came up in the investigation?"
Nalini ruefully continued, " After thorough investigation the police confirmed that she was murdered but the culprits and their motive behind was still blurry.
Two weeks later, one of Ziva's close friends Arman had to be hospitalized, though he was alive - he was incapacitated, his nose and jaw bone had been crushed into a pulp. With all those bandages, he looked like a mummy and definitely was unable to speak.
Three days post Arman's hospitalization, three more people - Ziva's seniors Abhijit, Sunil, Pratyush were thrashed in a barbaric manner and were left to crawl. They claimed that it was ZIVA who thrashed them.
They confessed that they along with Arman made up the plan to beat up Ziva and threaten her just to teach her a lesson, as she had once slapped Sunil for misbehaving with a girl. It wasn't easy to make Arman join their team until one day when Ziva heard Arman speak really bad and mean things about her.
Arman was used as a scrapegoat two days later...to call up Ziva and it was all well planned. She was called up to a place bustling with people and from there Arman had escorted her to the lonelier alley stating that it was a surprise for her as he wanted to ask for forgiveness.
They had actually intended to only threaten her and leave her alone but Ziva refused to shut the trap on her mouth and threatened to expose all of them. Instead of being scared she was furious, and insulted and abused them for being four against one as COWARDS.
In the heated outrage, Abhijit and Sunil had beaten her up furiously and knocked her unconscious.
Though Arman tried his best to stop Sunil, but he ended up strangulating her putting an arm around her throat.
They did all they could to cover up the matter. When police would start interrogation, Abhijit, Sunil and Pratyush would be on a safer side not being directly related to Ziva in any way but Arman...was forced to leave the city immediately. He had taken admission in a new school.
They were all arrested after these confessions and we're declared 'INSANE' on mentioning that they were thrashed and beaten up by Ziva during each interrogation.
Arman was in a very bad shape and took a lot of time even to be able to be seated on a wheel chair but when he could finally speak, he too confessed and asserted that he was knocked- off by Ziva. He too was fortunate enough to be declared insane.
Rohan interrupted, " Arman was in..another city when he was beaten up. Wasn't he??"
" Yes" mumbled Nalini.
" There is a greater Univeral force consistently working on us. One always has to pay for his sins unmistakably", Vikash said with a treacherous calm.
