Week 3: Review The greatest Showman

Did I say before that I love Musicals? I'm sure I did and if I didn't I do it now. So I will give you another movie review. First some general facts about the movie. It's called The greatest Showman and it's a movie from 2017. The director is Michael Gracey, a unrated director in my opinion, he is so good and he deserves more attention. The main cast is Hugh Jackman, one of my favorite actors, Michelle Williams, Zendaya, my favorite actress, Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson. I would rate it on a scale from 1 up to 10 as a 9. The only thing that bothered me was that they made a too nice and human friendly Barnum. He wasn't a nice man. His characters was complex but you can't call him a nice man. He did also some good things but not many. For example could, Charles, a short man, meet the queen because of him. I think the producers wanted it to be family friendly and it definitely was so cool to watch and I watched it like 10 times so it was really good.

The movie is based on the story of Phineas Taylor Barnum, the American Circus Pioneer. He invented the circus. But it was different then from now. Basically, the circus was a freak show. He found disabled people and people on the edge of the society. And he promised them to be stars and have a better life but he just used them. In the movie they presented it in a lot more positive way. They kind of made a "hero" out of Barnum. He seemed a much nicer guy than he was. You could even like the movie version of him, if you don't know the real character of him. I think it's kinda sad that he couldn't see what he is doing to this people.

I was shocked when I found out that P.Ts circus existed until 2017, because it was known at the worst circus of all time because of human and animal unworthy behaviors. The circus lent the costumes for the movie. The process from the first draft up the the making of the movie took over 17 years. Hugh Jackman really wanted to do the movie but the producers were concerned that outside the USA not many people like the movie, in the US everyone knows the story of P.T Barnum but in other parts of the world no one knows anything about it. But Hugh Jackman didn't gave in and so they managed it to make it happened. But that wasn't the only problem. They trained a year just to show it to the producers but at the final rehearsal in front of everyone Hugh Jackman, the main actor, wasn't allowed to sing because of a cancer operation. The crew for the technology and special effects, accidentally cursed a real fire so they had to evacuated the set. I found the behind the scenes sequences really interesting. It is funny that two of the main characters were fictional.

The songs are absolutely addictive. Benj and Justin are such talented composers. The songs make this musical so good.

I would recommend it to familys, because it's just beautiful to watch and you gonna have a good time. The music is just addictive and you won't stop listen to it. But you have to like musicals to enjoy it.
