Review The Fabelmans
I've been to the cinema this weekend to watch the new movie "The Fabelmans". It came out in 2022 and the last weekend was the premiere in english cinemas. It is starring Michelle Williams, Paul Dano and Gabriel LaBelle and it was directed by Steven Spielberg. I was fascinated by this movie and I really had to think about what I just saw. I would give it a 8 out of 10.
It is about a boy called Sam. He discovered his passion of making movies at his first cinema visit. His dream was being a professional director since then. But things became complicated when his father wanted him to make a movie for his mother. And he did it but whilst he was doing it he discovered a terrible truth about his mother. She cheated on his father with his best friends. This was the start of a broken family. It was up to Sam to save this family. What is the right thing to do?
First some interesting facts. I was amazed about the short period of time that the scriptwriter wrote the whole script. He wrote three days a week four hours and he needed needed just to month. I honestly don't know how fast this person can write. I'd love to write that fast. The scriptwriter said this was the fastest he ever did a job. Steven Spielberg wanted to do this movie since 1999. That's 23 years, a lot of time. Spielbergs parents were very passionate about "The Fabelmans". Unfortunately, they passed away before the out coming of the movie. Michelle Williams move "Blue Valentine" opened her the door to play the role of Mitzi Fabelman. The Fabelmans is basically Spielbergs story. The story how he became one of the most talented movie directors of all times. Spielberg selected most of the music by himself. The atmosphere on set was really emotional. Sometimes Steven Spielberg actually had to cry on set because this movie meant so much to him. There war a funny easter egg in the movie. The movie Sam was watching with his parents at the beginning was a version of The greatest Showman and Michelle Williams played the part of Charity Barnum in The greatest Showman.
It was just an amazing movie to watch. I even forgot to eat my popcorn because I was so riveted by the story. The time just flied by. I would definitely watch it again if it is on Netflix or Disney +.
I would recommend this movie to everyone. Even if you not especially into Family-Drama movies. This story will move you, because you can feel how much effort is put in it and and it is just a different feeling if you know it's a true story. And this movie abducts you in a world beyond all possibilities and trough the camera lens you experience wonders. So you have to see it. It's a heartbreaking but also you have to cry of joy. It's a pleasure for you mind and I ponder long about it.
