Ned's Ears and Staying in Auradon

"That was stupid, Ziniba! Very stupid!" Genevieve yelled as she let the Rebel Vks into our room.

I was shaking badly.

"I know. It just felt... good."

"We really don't care how good it felt," Genevieve snapped "We may have just given up our chance to get the wand. Harry's gonna tell them everything!"

Ned shook his head.

"Harry isn't a traitor, just a playboy."

"You're right," I sighed "I suppose we'll let him stay with the Rebel Vks. That's if he doesn't tell. Gil, would you tell him?"

Gil, of course, wasn't paying attention. Instead at that moment as we turned our attention to him, he was quietly asking Ned a question that we all heard quite clearly.

"Ned, do you have hyena ears?"

Ned started with surprise than started trembling.

"H-how did you know?"

"When you bit Harry the top of your beanie went backward and the bite was shaped like a dog bite."

We all stared at Ned. He shrunk under our gaze then slowly pulled his beanie and trench coat off.

On the top of his head were two large roundish ears with coarse fur. Out of the small of his back, a tail about two feet long grew.

"Ned!" I whispered, "What did you do?"

I grew faint and fell backward. Tony caught me. I was breathing heavily. Nightmares flashed before my eyes.

Cages. Growls. Guns.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Ned cried as he quickly knelt by me "It was an accident! A side effect of the potion! I'm sure it'll wear off!"

I opened my eyes.

"I hope it does and it doesn't get worst." I lifted my hand and stroked his ears gently. "They are cute though."

Ned smiled.

"They'll go away," he promised.

"I hope so."

He helped me to my feet.

"We need to establish some sort of connection here in Auradon that will keep us here long enough to get our hands on the wand," I said.

We thought about it for a moment then Genevieve's face grew darker and she giggled evilly.

"Sinbad," she said.

"I don't think Sinbad will help us," I said, "No matter how much he wants me to sing at Mal's birthday party."

"Maybe not. But he would use it as an excuse!" Genevieve's fingers played with the tips of her hair like she would when she was thinking.

"But why would he help us?" Ned asked her.

"Because he's going to fall in love with Ziniba."

We looked at her like she was crazy.

"That's a small chance," I said.

"We can make it larger." Genevieve was beginning to look like her mom.

"How?"

"Same way Mal made Ben like her."

"But the recipe is in her spell book which is in the museum," I pointed out, "Besides I'm not gonna have a brainless, half-fish male drooling over me."

"It's the only way," Genevieve said, "And besides I know enough magic to tie him over until we can get it."

"No, there is no way I'm going to do that."

**

"Hey, Sinbad, how's it going."

I can't believe they convinced me.

Sinbad was in the forest sitting at the foot of a tree reading a book.

He looked up from his book. "Oh, hello. Everythings going fine."

I sat down beside him and tilted my head.

"I've decided to sing at Mal's birthday."

He smiled.

"Really! That's great!"

"But I have one condition."

"What's that?"

"I get to wear what I want to wear. That means no recital dresses or something like that."Sinbad nodded.

"Just as long as your clothes aren't too revealing you can wear whatever you want."

I smiled.

"Deal."

I extended my hand and he shook it. The magic that had been fizzing around my hand zapped up his arm and covered his body. His eyes widened in shock but he didn't release my hand.

Instead, when the magic disappeared as quickly as it came, his deep ocean eyes connected with my green ones. He leaned forward. His lips were about to touch mine. I couldn't stop him. It was like I was under a spell. Then he released my hand and I suddenly leaned back and stood.

We looked at each other dazedly.

"I'm sorry," he murmured, "I don't know what came over me."

I smiled.

"It's fine."

I took his hand and helped him up. Electricity seemed to shoot through me at our touch even though I knew the magic had already done its work.

What is happening? Snap out of it!

I let go of his hand.

Suddenly remembering why I was there I looked at the ground.

"Sinbad, there's one problem."

"Yes?"

I looked up into his eyes that seemed to be calling to me to come closer.

"I, ere, kinda did something that may get me and my friends sent back to the Isle."

Sinbad's blinked than looked defiant.

"Not if I have anything to do with it."

His gaze then softened.

"Ziniba, would you go on a date with me?"

I blinked. Date? He was probably like Chad, just rushing into thing to get something. Then again he was under my thumb not the other way around.

"Alright."

"Sinbad! Sinbad!"

Someone was trying to find Sinbad. They probably were getting him for a council for what they were going to do to the Rebel Vks.

"I have to go!" I said suddenly then bounded away.

When I was far enough away I slowed then sighed.

What is happening? What was that spell?

"How'd it go?" Ned asked when I got back.

"Okay," I sighed again and rubbed my face.

"He's hot, isn't he?" Genevieve asked.

I studied her face, wondering what she was getting at then it suddenly dawned on me.

"What was that spell, Genevieve?!"

"A love spell." She smirked.

"What does it do?"

Her smile wavered.

"Binds two souls in undying love."

"Undying love! You mean that spell has messed with my emotions as well as his?!"

"Yep."

"Genevieve! How could you!" I yelled, "Why? Why, would you make me fall in love with a half-fish, goody-two-shoes, Male?"

"Oh, he's not so bad," Genevieve said, then added, "Of course you don't see him so bad yourself."

"Undo the spell. Now!" I growled.

Genevieve shook her head. "They'll know we spelled him if you don't share the love."

"I can pretend."

"Ziniba, you're a horrible actor. Besides, I can't break the spell now or it will break one or both of your souls."

"How would it break them?"

"It would shatter them so bad that you would be unable to feel any emotions."

I raised my eyebrow. "I could live with that."

She shook her head. "No. Like you are unable to make up your mind because you don't have emotions to guide your actions. It would be awful."

"You mean I have to be drooling over that fish brained scum forever?" I growled.

"No. The way I would break it would be too rough and create damage but there are gentler ways of breaking it."

"How?"

She shook her head.

"I don't know but I know there is a way and that's written down in Mal's spell book."

I folded my arms and considered this.

"Fine," I finally said. "But as soon as we have the wand then we "gently" break the spell."

"Really I don't think it's magic," Ned said, twitching one ear thoughtfully, "I think it just creates a strong chemical reaction to the brain that releases strong emotions, so-."

"Shh." I put my finger to his lips. I needed to think and not listen to his smart babbling.
